His voice is incredible - there is no other band in this world that can take you back to the 80's with a performance like this and yet still feel timeless in 2022.
There's something about 'Faith' album that transcends everything, even other Cure albums before or since- the production, sound, songwriting, etc. It would be underwhelming to say that it is just a good album. It is an experience that would haunt you time after time. 'Drowning Man' is one of the examples. This is a splendid live performance. May God bless this band with good health and everlasting happiness.
I'd say it's true for the three albums of that period (17 senconds; Faith and Pornography). I doscovered The Cure in the early 80's and was just blown away by their sound back then. I will probably get into trouble saying this, but i find that Disintegration, which is undoubtedly a brilliant album both musically and lyrically, suffered from the David M. Allen's production and overpresence of synths that make it sound rather dated to my ears today, compared to other three.
@@fredoc2602 Actually, I completely agree with you. I have always felt the same way. 'Disintegration' is an overrated album compared to the original trilogy you mentioned. I am not a big fan of the production on that album although I love reverbs, echoes, etc. It was overdone by Dave M. Allen. The highlight of 'Disintegration' was due to the hit songs on it that were extremely good and timeless (in fact few of my all time favourite songs are on it). Whereas during '17 Seconds' and especially later with 'Faith' and 'Pornography', what they were doing was totally against anything even remotely commercial or hit sounding. They sounded as if they exorcising personal demons and making some statements against what they were surrounded by. '17 Seconds' and 'Faith' were mainly produced by Mike Hedges, 'Pornography' by Phil Thornalley (although I'd argue it was more of Robert Smith's sonic vision than Phil's input) and by the time 'Disintegration' came out, The Cure was obviously a different and a bigger band in many ways. However, it is interesting to note that Robert wanted to go back to his 'Faith' days during the making of 'Disintegration' and evoke some of the sentiments on it. I love 'Disintegration' but the raw crusade of the original trilogy when The Cure was more of a cult band is something else altogether.
@@fredoc2602 totally agree with you about the 3 albums from this period, but there's nothing wrong with Disintegration. I have high hopes for the new album
U will see the cure in Amsterdam??me and my wife see them next thuesday,.in berlin,.hope they gonna play a lot from pornography,.minimum a short term effect
Doesn't get enough credit, especially Pornography. Saw them at the Elephant Fayre, and the sound check blew me away, it felt like Andy Anderson played Cold and the Figurehead all afternoon, those drums rolling around the gentle Cornish halls, haunts me to this d
Thank you so much for this video. ❤️ I could listen to this song everyday of my life and always thinking "Wow, The Cure is and will always be. How could they make such a perfect and deep song." It's gold for ears went they play it live.
Thanks! No, I'll just do 2 or 3 videos per show since I want to take in the shows and not just watch it behind a phone screen. So this night I had decided randomly to shoot the third song (which turned out to be Burn) and then The Hanging Garden and The Drowning Man I just had to do. I would have done The Figurehead too but I got this brain freeze in the beginning of it thinking it was Cold and once my brain was functioning again and I realized it was The Figurehead I just thought it was too late to film.
ahora me quedo tranquilo...
The years go by but that voice never changes.
His voice sounds better than the last years. He's in shape!

15 years ago I wouldn't have believed that I would be listening to this song "live" on TH-cam today. Amazing! The Cure never die
Would have loved to be present : figurehead, drowning man, strange day, waow !
That bass-line, OMG! So happy they includes this treasure in the setlist this tour..

That was the setlist I wished for for Hamburg. Wow, Bob, wow.
Meine frau und ich sehen the cure nächsten dienstag in berlin,..hoffe viel von pornography kommt,.minimum a short term effect
Tolhurst's drums from back then will never be replicated. It was a different atmosphere

Robert, sei unico
Assolutamente vero!!!

Amazing, never had the chance to see this great song performed live.
How I wished he had played it in Munich too!!!! ♥
Enjoy neighbors across the pond. 👋 thanks for posting for the USA. 🙂
The Cure 🔝 Band 👏👏👏
Thank you very much, I appreciate that every setlist is so different. I can't wait til Sunday. ;-)

Oh. My. God!
amazing!
I need to hear this song live in Madrid.
Thank you
Amazing
Your videos are so amazing. Did you manage to capture The Figurehead or A Strange Day.

Great!!!
"For you shhhh..." = Fushia
sólo cabe rendirse a sus pies.
Really LOVE this song!!!
And surely he's not the best guy to tell Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry how not to drown... Lol
🖤
3 guitars?!
One year ago....
What's frustrating is that they're mixing up the setlists but each time they remove other great songs but keep ones that really shouldn't be there....
It's good that there is such variety. Just hoping that they will bring them all together for the one I attend.
To be fair is kind of subjective no?
ahora me quedo tranquilo...
Sorry the tempo is too slow.
