I do gotta say, as someone who has played through this trilogy like... 4 times, I love hearing your thoughts and analysis as you're going through the game for the first time. I feel like most people just kinda sit and let the story happen to them and default to paragon without too much thought. I'm actually floored (in a good way) to see someone ignore certain dialogue prompts and just walk away on a first run of the game (refusing to say "you're cocky" to Miranda)
I was late to the game, didn't play until... I'm sUre it was later than 2015. But I have played through 14 or 15 times, and you're right: seeing people play it for the first time is a real blessing.
"...what if Archangel is someone we know?" Insert _"nobody's gonna know" "they're gonna know." "how would they know?"_ 😋 Good job going for the renegade interrupt with Cathka and the gun ship; lots of people are too scared to go for it and it helps a lot in the fight! You don't ever lose paragon points for renegade interrupts, so a lot of the time the "abrupt" method of the prompts is worth it.
I was scared to do it in my first playthrough but when going through my second where I discovered I can Sabotage the Eclipse Mech (I didn’t even bother exploring the base in my first playthrough) a lightbulb went off in my head on what that renegade interrupt meant now I do it all the time
The reason you can change Miranda's outfit, but not Jacob's or Zaeed's, is because her alternative outfit was a DLC item. A few other squad mates also have DLC outfits, but not everyone. Later in the game you can unlock one alternative outfit for each squad mate, but only the DLC outfits will be available from the outset.
they are part of that "loyal" thing you need to do a loyality story mission with each main character if you want their ultimate ability unlocked (and alternative outfit) there is even more, but I don't want to spoiler
@@Daralyndk I'm pretty sure the original post was worded the way it was to specifically avoid spoilers like that. I know I often word my comments that way for that reason.
@@GuerillaBunny I didn't think it was a spoiler at all There are companions in this game and there are missions in this game, some companions evidently was not "loyal" which is openly said in the skill screen So you will eventually have to do someting for them to like you more I see no spoiler in that
I was so looking forward to this episode. Keep it up, you're doing great! Quick gameplay tip if you want, but ME 2 is heavy in Normandy crew dialogue. Meaning everyone (mostly squad and joker) has something new to say. Usually after story missions and recruitments, so be sure to go talk to everyone after them. Now there comes a point where they will basically send Shep away when there's nothing new. But after a certain point in the game, they will talk about new things again. These new ones will come to a stop again, besides the romance options who are a bit longer lol, so keep on talking to em afterwards. I hope this is helpful if you read it!
Hahaha. I love watching people get taken out by that flamethrower because it too me like 5 tries myself. It also took my like 20 minutes to figure out I could vault over those walls. It's a bit of bad game desugn that turned into a bit of a meme because it was in a great game.
Something to consider going forward, the gameplay changes most drastically from 1 to 2. 1 was a straight forward RPG while 2 and 3 are more cover based shooters with RPG elements. If you're wondering why Shepard seems to be made of tissue paper when out in the open, that's the main reason. ✌️
loved this episode, also it was really hilarious to see you figure out the hacking LOL. oh and don't worry you can choose to either get an assault rifle or sniper rifle around the halfway point of the game but i think you can only choose one of them to be able to use so be smart what you choose bcs the other will be blocked out (i think) edit:another lil tip warp is good against armor/barrier opponents, the concussive shot that zaeed has is good against just regular health stuff and overload is only ever good for shields and synthetic/robot enemies another edit lmfaoo: u can buy fuel and probes at the fuel station
Watching you go through the game for the first time has been a blast keep up the good work I like how your loyal to your friends and fuck the rest you'll deal with it when it comes
48:59 It's even simpler when you realize that the circuit background image actually shows you what dots need to be connected. Took me a long time before I even noticed that.
Do not forget to use the trilogy save editor to fix the Conrad bug. a bug that they failed to patch out, so when you meet Conrad he will always say you choose renegade option on him in ME 1, even if you did not. Very easy to use, just find your ME 2 file, then c lick the Plot tab, then Mass Effect 1 tab, then Missions tab, then Citadel, then untick [The Fan] Go away and make sure [The Fan] Met Conrad Verner and [The Fan] Convinced him is ticked.....if you did that, then just save the file and load in game, done, easy
4:40 So, she is actually 36 😅The game never mentions it (maybe somewhere in the codex her year of birth is mentioned but it’s never brought up) but she is indeed 36 years old, the assumption is because of all the gene mods she looks younger than she actually is. Or maybe in this universe people look younger in general because the average life expectancy is like 150 and not 70.
It’s okay to say things to your squad mates as long as it might progress the conversation (like Miranda and saying she’s cocky) But I also like how you just walk away. Others didn’t do that I don’t remember exactly what her response is though lol
Your reactions have been a blast! I'll hold off on any specific advice or fun trivia, since you said you've already recorded multiple videos already. The basic "Paragon is the top dialogue, Renegade is the bottom dialogue, always exhaust the left options, especially the investigate" are all you need for a blind playthrough like yours. If you ever do want some guidance outside of us in the comments, either now or when you revisit the trilogy in the future, i recommend the channel Big Dan Gaming, he has multiple videos about any secret, mission, characters, or particular interaction in the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games.
The part of the mission to get Garrus where you have to shut those shutters, that part is soooooooo hard on insanity. I refuse to do that mission without inferno ammo. The regen on vorcha are just crazy.
That is the first real difficulty spike in the trilogy. I breeze through the first game on insanity, but this mission is the first time I got just slapped in the face.
Love watching this, I keep screaming at the screen " Get a better gun ! Pick the Renegade option, you'll need these people later " Use the hotkey system !! Normal TV series don't get me this excited . Well done KA .
One thing i noticed that was a little annoying was that during a conversation or dialogue with characters, they frequently turn around and walk around and show their back to the player, disconnecting eye to eye contact. I found it weird since it seemed to keep happening and some of those people are super paranoid and would never turn their back on Shepherd. Also your thoughts on Miranda putting up a mask that reflects what is expected of her and how shepherd does that also was pretty insightful and i agree with your thoughts. I hadn't thought about that before. Good job love the comments!
One pretty big change of notice is that they made the combat much more dynamic. Power cooldowns are much faster, and are almost spammable in cases. You can even be a semi-caster now, and pretty much a full caster in ME3 :)
It looks like you're already running a mod to shrink the notifications. There's one to turn off the hacking and bypassing minigames, because they do get kind of old after awhile lol
Garrus is the best friend, the most trusted ally... and if you're playing a female Shepard, the best romance in the trilogy. Probably my favorite companion in any game ever, in any genre. And I played a game with a floating, talking, smartass skull!
I know you're not playing on a hard difficulty, but I'd suggest ignoring the med-kits when you have full Unity already. 100 credits is nothing, but you might wanna grab them later during or after a battle if you need to heal your squad or yourself.
1:27:30 For some context, in conversations, you get some renegade points each time you say something that sound like defending or justifying or going along with Cerberus, as they are considered "the bad guys", and if you align with them, that gives you renegade points. Same thing in your first meeting with the Illusive Man, the game gave you some renegade points because you saw his points and went along with it, without saying anything indicating you still distrust them, even though willing to work with them for a greater cause. I really like the nuanced moral perspective.
lol. You are making me want to play this game again. “Come on, Shepard… we are out of retirement!” I am boring though. I always play Femshep Infiltrator and Kaiden, my Bae, always makes it out of Virmire. 😊 Maybe I should try bro Shepard for my next playthrough and give Ash a chance at promotion.
Fun Fact: There is a pretty popular fan theory that Wrex was once hired to kill Aria before she took over Omega. In ME1, Wrex retells the story of how he was hired to kill an asari commando named Aleena. He found her in a mining station that was filled with the dregs of society. After three days of constant fighting, the station’s reactor went critical. Wrex made it out and didn’t see anyone leave but on his way back to turn in the contract, Aleena messaged him “better luck next time” We don’t know much about Aria’s life before Omega other than she was a commando
You’re not using all your kit efficiently… might want to take a close look at ability descriptions again. Also, I think this mission is super difficult on insanity, because it’s so early in the game, you don’t have full abilities yet and the enemies are super aggressive and numerous. Also, welcome to being staggered. 😂
Just wanted to add to some of what others have been saying about how you’re playing through this. Seeing someone just take their time and stopping to share thoughts about things is great. Also I’m right there with you on NOT picking every single dialogue option. Some just don’t make sense sometimes especially depending on what kind of character building the player is getting from/putting in to Shephard. People will complain about it here and there but it’s your playthrough at the end of the day. Besides part of the beauty of these games is playing through multiple times. I always recommend running through as the female Shepard at least once because Jennifer Hale does a ridiculously amazing job voice acting femshep.
Finally!) But, there's one thing. Could you kick up a notch with your pace a little bit?) Have 2 missions in one episode, instead of one? Because there are dozens of cool games out there, I'd like you to walk them through till I turn 50 :) (I'm 30 yo tho)
Making choices to just stay paragon or renegade meh. Renegade is different this game and different in the last game. Some renegade actions don't require you to kill entire races but are just more aggressive actions. Making your choices off of the given information at the point is the way I like to play this game.
@@KingdomAce yeah manual scanning is pain in the ass... especially if you want to be completionist. It was not really thought trough mechanic ME3 did it better, tough still sometimes annoying
You need to flirt with Kelly. No one knows her backstory who played the game so I will tell you. She likes flirting with powerful men but never sleeps with them because she thinks they will lose respect for her. That's her story with the Illusive Man. Research the rest for yourself. Anyway, you need to keep flirting with her to save the fish.
@@quitwastinmytime Good advice! A good rule of thumb to get her to show up in ME 3 without locking in a romance is to flirt with her until you trigger a scene where she visits your quarters, then stop when the next opportunity arises. (And, of course, make sure she survives the final mission)
