Oh I'm in love with that phaser! They have come up with the perfect names for there pedals, paying homage or making reference to what made the original's famous. Brilliant 👍
You are correct about the Elastic Mattress, it is a fantastic pedal. For the price and the sound quality, it is very tough to beat. I like it is an 18v pedal too, sorry Leon 😃 Also, PastFx Customer Service is first class.
Verlie has established herself as THE queen of enhanced vintage, analog goodness. Long may she reign. As per usual, an excellent demo from the connoisseur of fine gear. Nice one Leon!
Watching your vids turned me onto PASTFX. I ponied up for a Hot For Flanger and Rotary Phaser. I think the Hot for Flanger is way better than the MXR reissues. It kinda makes me want to try all of the PASTFX flangers!
I’m with you on the Mattress. They all sounded great… but every single time my ears really perked up and I went “Whoa!!” it was inevitably the Mattress. The 65 was probably my 2nd choice. I apparently like a very subtle chorus. I tend to gravitate to those that are less in your face.
Some really great flavors in here. I was late to the flanger, once I saw how Adrian Belew used it in front of fuzz that convinced me to give it another look. Flanger is way more versatile than it first appears. Cheers man!
Every Past FX pedal sounds glorious! The Sanctimonious faces of MN300_! Nailed these and made them better. Hard to only have one; the New Division calls to me in my sleep. It has a sound that is like making out for the first time in a dark room with a lava lamp lighting the way. Liquid and gooey for shoegaze. I have a feeling the Elastic Mattress would be equally great with a slightly different personality.
I don't know what it is that makes me think of food metaphors when I hear these, but I can't help it. Fluffy meringue to creamy caramel to dense rich chocolate syrup. All delicious. I'm like you though: I'd have to go with the Electric Mattress.
Flanger is my favorite modulation effect. I have an old Boss made in Japan BF2, a Foxrox Paradox TZF, an old t.c. electronic SCF made in Denmark, an MXR 117 with Reticon delay IC, a Thorpy Camolflange flanger, a PastFX Reticon Flanger, and a PastFX Elastic Mattress. I won't mention the many digital flangers I own - no digital flanger exceeds the sounds analog flangers can produce.. There are so many sounds different flangers can create. For me, I love the Boss BF-2 Very forward with 80s analog character and squawk. The TC electronic SCF is smooth and high fi. Great for EJ tones. The Foxrox TZF is really cool (Through Zero Flanging was a revelation), but it is too noisy for me, unless I put a fuzz face in front of it! Flangers love being fed a signal with white noise in it. Thorpy Camoflange approaches the bright crystalline tones an Electric Mistress is known for. Very versatile and low noise. PastFX - Reticon Flanger vs Elastic Mattress. For me, the Elastic Mattress sounds better to my ears.Really cool pedal. I need to go back and try to learn how to setup the PastFX Reticon. My 4 faves: MXR117, TC SCF, Camoflange, and Elastic Mattress. Thanks Todd for this awesome video!
I'm with you there regarding analog flangers funnily enough - I've fooled myself with A/B comparisons between amp modelling and real amps, as well as delays but there's still that elusive SOMETHING between my favourite digital flangers and the EM.
Definitely going to have to pick up an Elastic Mattress at some point. Not normally a flanger person, but that pedal sounds awesome both clean and with high gain. Quick Question: Were you running these pedals before distortion?
DOD FX-65 was my very first effects pedal, got it 30-something years ago and it's been my one and only chorus all these years. Surprised to see it's been cloned. The CE and EM really sound great to me too.
What one of these pedals would you reach for first?
Chorus obviously.🥰

Making Australia proud!

Absolutely. Best in class and the prices she's offering then up at make them so much more accessible than the vintage equivalents.

Awesome to hear that! Yeah the HFF is in a class all it's own IMO

Chorus Ensemble post preamp and the Elastic Matress before the amp both on for that Grace Under Pressure tone!
YESSSSS
Definitely need to hear that EM->CE stack!

Good call! Adrian is a genius
Elastic Mattress sounded very Lifeson like

Am gonna love this all pedal candy phase tonight mate.

Absolutely! Finely folding sound back on itself is a great analogy

Yeah this was all pre-gain in mono. The Em totally changed my mind about flangers and now I love them!
Those things are fanfreakingtastic!
Love the Chorus Ensemble .. sounds huge!! And the 80/A is killer too!!!

I wish you would've tested their BK Butler tube driver pedal, nonetheless great video
I've got a sperate video with that one!
Cant wait til Verlie hits us with that DM-2 with modulation. Gottahaveit!
OMG YES!!!
when is the Rockman X100 coming out???
I am KEEN for that whenever it comes
Does it RUSH!? What a great idea!
This is an excellent end to the day.
I have both the elastic mattress and the 80/A MN3007. The mattress is awesome but I keep coming back to my 80/A MN3007.
Nothing else captures what the 80/A does hey - a very unique flanger circuit
@LeonTodd I feel like there are also a lot of sounds you can get out of the 80/A if you're willing to sit down and work with it.
Oi! Leon! How about some compressor and overdrive love?😌
I've got a whole board for that!
@@LeonTodd A 5 minute guide to getting that Scorpions tone would be welcomed as well.😇
Tried a Boss RT-20?
I owned one a few years ago.
