Hey! Game developer here. You should maybe for the cutout instead of using a Box Collider, use a Mesh Collider. That would make it so it doesn't just stay flying a small bit up above the ground.

true, plus the hitbox would be much more accurate. With a box collider you might hit it before your hand actually touches it.
