    This is part of the marginalization we from the easy are crying out for.

      You're Just showcasing your ignorance, the rail is already existing and was built as narrow gauge, there is also a Lagos to Kano Narrow gauge which is also being rehabilitated. There is nothing like marginalisation here. Its simply not a new line and that is why its narrow gauge

      Why all the narrow gauge in the West are replace with standard gauge?
      It's unfair maltreatment to Eastern part when 70% of the revenue to repay back all the loans used to fund the projects across Nigeria came from the Eastern part.
      every country are already abandoning arrow gauge to Standard gauge.
      I think Nigeria government need to adapt to modern development for the benefit of Nigerians to enjoy conducive train system.

    Which type of railway gauge is using every where of this state. If that type of guage of railway is doveloping is immediately using everywhere on the place for common economic purpose.
    Narrow gauge is converting to heritage
    site for tourist destination in parallel.
    However congratulations for good future of Nigerian railway network.

    So what I want to understand is does this then mean that a passenger train ride from Lagos to Portharcourt is not feasible?

    Who are the people shouting the loudest against foreign/Chinese loans? That's the difference between spending $3b against $14b for standard gauge in the eastern line

      I assure you. The price for SGR to do it in the east would not be 14billion. that is a political lie.

    The decision to Build a narrow gauge train line system in this day and age when countries are already using fast train track,not just standard gauge is just awful and ridiculous, absolute waste of money.

    Itakpe - Warri with a link to Abuja is a standard gauge line that is operational now except for the Abuja connection is in south south Nigeria. How many people are actually traveling from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri, that corridor is more of cargo rail than passenger train, passenger rail transportation is more viable for high population area, if the road is good, especially if the Portharcourt to Enugu express road is completed the journey should not take that long to move between the eastern states. The southeast needs the cargo train to start running instead of waiting for standard gauge which they don't have the money for now.

    • @Monaug5kid
      @Monaug5kid 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But what about the future Ben? When Nigerias population is 300m- 350m and the faster trains are needed? This is a lack of vision and balls from the buhari government.

    • @benakor8575
      @benakor8575 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Monaug5kidIf other govt in the past has vision, all these infrastructures should have been constructed several years ago, this government is constructing second niger bridge, the bridge cost as much as the train been constructed in other parts of the country, southeast is getting a fair share, no one govt can build it all, if we have incremental development, it is just a matter of time, all the rail line in the country will be constructed.

    • @Monaug5kid
      @Monaug5kid 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benakor8575 It will be constructed but won't match up. Even Japan with the most narrow gauge line is trying to build convertible trains to run narrow and standard. CANNOT DO IT! It is foolish to not standardise the whole thing in one go. The south south to north east line does not need to be built until the start of 2023 under a new government. In that time they can plan and raise funds. The diaspora can cover most of the cost over a 4 year period.

      @@Monaug5kid The rail line that should be a clamour for in the east is the coastal rail line from Lagos to Calabar, this train route run across many west, east and south-south cities, this is where we have population growth and movement of people within the south not from PH to maiduguri

    The narrow gage is the slowest train line, it takes 3 days to travel from Enugu to Sokoto, all the countries are modernising to electric format, Buhari is a very tribalistic man, he was building the slowest train lines in the eastern region, I am so happy he is no longer in office.

    For heavn sakes, if this is going to become an issue used to promote division, let us make the Eastern Rail line Standard gauge. Let us go the extra mile for the sake of unity. Some may argue that you shouldn’t pander to sentiment over practicality and economic values, whatever those may be, but I’d say that Nations have to make compromises for the sake of National cohesion especially nations like Nigeria that are hugely divers.

      They think that they are doing it for Igbos not knowing that it's for the benefit of all Nigerians.
      It's not about doing it for Igbo it's for the benefit of Nigeria development and economic revenue.

    • @charlesuzozie5747

      @@Southernview3k And that is why they should make it a standard Railway. The ability for a a Passenger/Cargo to travel from Port-Harcourt to Lagos without switching trains would be beneficial for the Economy in the long term. The current Narrow Gauge Railway that the East runs on is going to be fazed out in the coming years anyway so why not just upgrade the line to the national standard now instead of wasting money refurbishing the outdated tracks?
