One of my favorite tunes, and you mentioned the very two artists I listened to for inspiration on the song: McCoy and Nancy. An this lesson (I've always used the D7#9) further enhanced my grasp; thank you sir.

REQUEST: Kathy's Waltz I know it's probably a bit of an advanced piece compared to some but it's a pretty song that's not heard much. Always appreciate you, Tony! Thanks!

@@TonyWinston I learnt this one many years ago, The sheet music I got from my local library seemed very accurate. Has a lovely run up the keyboard at the crescendo. G, C D E, G ie: quite easy to play fast.

Great breakdown. Useful remarks on the Barry Harris notion on the III7, avoiding its 9th, being a b5 in the tonic.
I wonder if McCoy Tyner style quartals really could be used. It's a kind of oldie-worldie cheesy song. Sweet, but not punchy and cool.

Ok, greedy choice of requests - ‘Girl talk’, or ‘You must remember spring’? However, nearly 100k enjoy whatever you put out 😉

Thank you so much for this tutorial. Been using Kenny Rankin’s vocal/ guitar rendition to help learn the chords which have taken a lot of work. Have you seen his version? It’s Prob the best jazzy, heavy “mental” version of this song of all recordings of this song. The Beatles said that Kenny Ranking sang their Blackbird song better than theirs. His improvised vocal of both songs show that he was an under rated musicians. Thank you!

Keep doing what you’ve been doing, I think the 100k will come in no time. Been a faithful subscriber since the beginning when you used to wear the priest collar 😳 Maybe 2017 or so??? Anyway, thanks for all the great and informative content.

Request: Would love you to do some analysis on Dudley Moore, "Just in time" is amazing, "all the things you are" Bossa nova style (Dudley Moore trio with Marian Montgomery 1971 13.08) or anything other Dudley Moore stuff. He used to do some amazing blues scale gap fillers in his playing. Every time I tune a piano for a customer, I recommend students check out Kent Hewitt and Tony Winston. I hope everyone who likes this channel will help get you to the 100k.

REQUEST; Tony, thank you for another wonderful tutorial.
Where I get stuck with is when I’ve to change from Solo piano to playing in a band, e.g. Trio with bass. I find it hard to swap between playing rhythm and roots in Solo piano and to easily change to fills with rootless voicings in a band situation. It feels like two different worlds to me which makes it hard and time consuming to work on both at the same time. Is there a way to make it easier??
I‘d be grateful if you‘ve got some ideas on the topic.
All the best from Germany, Steffen

REQUEST: Do a few dedicated videos on improv. for solo piano (and a version if you had a bass player) using a few different standards. Assume we can play the tune -- just need help on improv. Play lines both slow and fast. Slowly break down how you come up with what to play; give a few alternatives. You spend time in many videos with improv., but it usually very quick and doesn't explain very much about what you're doing. Also, maybe use a metronome?
