6 years ago, there was a Turkish guy whose name is Burak Guven passed away sadly from brain tumor. He was the biggest MGS fan probably in whole world. He loved MGS so much, as his last wish, he wanted his wife to write his tombstone SOLID SNAKE under his name. Many people made fun of his wife and himself even after his death which made his wife to delete his post. As a Turkish fan, we would like Konami to add something to new game to make him unforgettable. Hopefully our wish would be heard from Konami. We may put his wife's and his little child's face some smile

Burak Güven was the biggest fan and even a representative of MGS brand in the Turkish fans' eyes. Sadly we lost him due to cancer and he even wanted "Solid Snake" to be carved in his tombstone as his last will. As it can be seen from the comment section, Turkish fanbase of this brand , we, are trying to honor this man with everything we can which may be accomplished by adding a small, minor detail of him in MGS brand. When I saw this live, I didn't even know what game it was until Big Boss appeared at the end. And there was no game company logo at the top right, so they had to really make it a surprise.

I don't know how old you are, but I don't feel that way. And I perfectly remember the times of the premiere of this game on PS2, then the Subsistance version. Yes, there was excitement, but let's not compare it to what happened with RDR 1, for example.
MGS as a whole made serious impact in the gaming industry, and rdr didn't lol.
It may not be the most detailed visually anymore these days, but all the small gameplay details and little interactions are still mindblowing and very few games managed to even be on the same level. Like how you can throw a grenade into a crocodile's open mouth and it will swallow the nade and explode in its stomach, how you can spin snake around in the character menu screen and he will throw up, or just the camo system in general

I can't believe it's almost been 20 years. That's like 1/3 of a lifetime. I still remember it like yesterday... getting MGS3 as a birthday gift, getting my friend hooked, borrowing it to him, and not seeing him again for a week or so. Then getting stuck at "The Sorrow" and figuring it out together. Those were the days. Of course highly subjective with great games like Gran Turismo 4, GTA's and so on, but this is the best PS2 game there is and will ever be, IMO.
Can't believe i'll experience it once again on another console. I really didn't believe it would happen.

I played it in 2015 on pc with PCSX2 emulator few days before 5 release. It was agood game but graphics were very bad .Now that they remake it for pc we will play it with 1000 times better graphics!! cant wait!

I don't know what is more anxiety inducing and terrifying here....the fact that they either aren't telling us who is developing this, or the idea that Konami could actually be trying to do this internally. I'm all for remaking these games, but when you're dealing with masterpieces, you had better have a team up to the task of handling them with the care and respect they deserve. Still crossing my fingers that we get a surprise announcement that it's actually Bluepoint working on this.
Edit: Looks like this is going to be multiplatform, which rules out Bluepoint as a studio working on this due to them being under Sony now. Other recent news and statements from Konami just refer to "the development team", with no mention of a director, lead artist, producer, or any other staff. As far as I am aware, the only full development teams still active under Konami are the Bemani teams, with possibly a few others working with outside help on titles such a YuGiOh, so until we hear otherwise, I would assume this is primarily outsourced with perhaps some internal oversight.
They did announce the original cast would be "returning", but did not specify if this would mean new recordings by the original cast or simply reusing the original audio. Not exactly the most trust inspiring developments so far, but we'll see where this goes.
Konami is developing this internally, Bluepoint is a Sony studio exclusively.

With how much technology has progressed, I'm interested in how much more they could push some of the mechanics present in the original. There was a codec call in which Major Zero told Snake that he must leave nothing behind: waste, sweat, footprints; they could have enemy soldier pick up on these traces like shell casings and footprints to track you down, or enter caution/alert phase.
Judging by how the maps look the same design with better graphics I’d say nothing changed

MGS holds a special place in my heart, not just because the series is fantastic but because i played all the games alongside my dad. Hearing snake eater play gave me waves of nostalgia and made be sad knowing i will never be able to play it alongside him again. No matter how much i dislike Konami, i hope they do the game justice and deliver a proper remake so that the next generation can enjoy the game just as much as we all did.

I have a feeling this is going to be a test run for future remakes. Them renaming it could be a clear sign of them starting at the earliest point in the series and will work their way up through the most relevant titles to the franchise via remakes. I don't think this will be a direct remake of the original, but somewhat of a reimaging while using the original game as a blueprint.

it's not a new metal gear. it's a remake. without kojima. take this with a massive grain of salt. if *all* they do is remake MGS3 with the Fox Engine it should be great.

I would like to suggest a heartfelt tribute to our late friend, Burak Güven. Adding a subtle homage to Burak in the Metal Gear world would not only preserve his legacy but also demonstrate the power of gaming communities to come together in times of loss. It could be something as simple as an in-game memorial or a hidden easter egg, but it would carry immense sentimental value
I'm hoping for a MGS1 remake! It has so much potential, and I remembered the chills I felt in MGS4. When Solid Snake returns to Shadow Moses.
