You may have heard the term “perioperative nursing” - this encompasses the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of the patient’s surgical experience. This video will focus on the postoperative phase which begins with the patient’s admission to the postanesthesia care unit (PACU) and ends once the anesthesia has worn off enough for the patient to be safely transferred to the appropriate nursing unit.

I just been to an interview for a recovery nurse post and I got the job thanks to this amazing video. Thank you so much!
How’s it been?
Perioperative nursing refers to the nurses that work in the operating room. These nurses follow perioperative guidelines by AORN. Preop, and recovery room nurses, Phase I and II are referred to as perianesthesia nurses and follow the ASPAN guidelines.
I work in the PACU and this video helps me organize my tasks with more critical thinking involvement! Thank you!

Sorry! The captions appear to work now; does that help?

There was no slide for the Fluid Interventions after the Hyperthermia. She just sits there and talks but in the meantime I'm awaiting a slide with the stepsto read it. Please review this. Thanks!
Cat, you're totally right! That's a major goof, and I'm so embarrassed. I'll get someone on that right away. Perhaps we'll make a special infographic or something to help make sense of that section! Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Cat, we mocked up a little slide that hopefully helps for now, until we can get this video redone! www.mometrix.com/academy/nclex-exam/postoperative-nursing/
