I'm a 40 y/o American and I used to watch this with my Grandfather around 30 years ago. It popped up on my feed and I've been watching a few episodes a day. Me and my grandpop watched it again, today. What a great and timeless show. I was thinking that re-booting the show would be a good idea, but this cast is too good and I'd rather just watch the old shows. Brilliant.
Too bad these folks are all gone now. A show that's hard to beat and expertly crafted. Always a blast to watch them. Things aren't done like that anymore.
This one show I will never get tired of . Been watching this show since 1985 when I was a young boy. Now 35 years later still watching it and it never gets old. The best comedy show of all time in the 🇺🇸 or 🇬🇧.

Funny when we are watching them perform, the thought of them being deceased doesn't seem to cross Ur mind at the time... it's when the program ends then it hits you, oh dear me... they're all dead! I watch them everyday, Thank you

I liked Mr. Goldberg initially when he was interviewed and "humbled" the arrogant Corporal, I mean Captain Peacock! Afterwards, Mr. Grace put Goldberg in his place when Goldberg tried to compare his years to Mr. Grace. Grace commented that there was a difference between him and Goldberg. Mr. Goldberg, "What's that?" Mr. Grace, " I own the place, you don't!"
Well his relatives own it all now. When this aired i was maybe 20 and didnt know a thing about his 'family'. Now i do. This was deliberately made to reference that. Something that cannot be made today, as they own everything.
Oh, good and noble Mr Rumbold. Knowing fully well the frail and aged mind of his employer, Mr Grace, the authority of decision-making invariably falls to him. Almost any other person would then seek to be manipulative of him. But not Mr Rumbold.
It's even better that he wasn't even "out" then, and everyone just assumed he was straight (they might have been a little more observant in the UK, but no one in the US had a clue).

I add the point that people in the UK might have been keen because there's a clip of a call-in show Elton was on where a girl was asking him how his marriage was going, and if he had any "habits" that upset his wife.

prior to the popularity of RUBS, Bass was a hugely bigger actor than any of them, appearing in many films and TV shows in the 50s and 60s. But it seems he got overtaken in the end.

Mr. Goldberg is sly one. That's why he was quickly promoted to senior salesperson in the beginning when hired. On another note, I have watched these wonderful funny shows so many times here and on PBS. So sad none of actors are with us anymore.
Never cared much for Mr. Goldberg. He just seemed kinda sneaky and sly. But everyone else I just loved for years. And ain't nobody like Mr. Humphries. Mrs. Slocome's different hair colors were forty years too soon. Mr. Grace was older than water but still enjoying life. Sometimes I thought Mr. Grace would fake sleep just so he wouldn't have to answer their questions or deal with their foolery. That old man wasn't that far gone. He was there mentally when he wanted to be there. We need these series now a days. Badly!!!
Honestly, I’m pretty sure Mr. Goldberg was supposed to be the stereotypical “Sneaky Jew”. Back then it was played up for laughs, cause nobody cared. But if you tried to have such a character on a show these days...oh dear. You would cause a riot lol. That being said, I COULD be wrong about all this but the name Goldberg kinda gives it away.
I just love these episodes and feel sad that so many are deceased who did such creative acting. What an amazing bunch of writers to do weekly episodes. Many people think it is slap stick I think it is brilliant. I love love love the double meanings and all the common things turned into mush.
This show still holds up today despite stereotypes and innuendos because the acting and writing are superb. The humor is good natured and not mean spirited.
Love this. Reminds me of days long gone at my grandmas house. Watching this on PBS and both of us laughing at Mr Humphries and the rest. Lovely memories.

I remember watching AYBS on PBS as a kid. Even before Mr. Lucas made the comment, the first thing I thought of was how much that machine sounded like a Dalek.
NasbySZ Brown I know... I’ve heard them all! Giraffe fur, the explanation Mr Lucas gave in Cold Store episode about the red hand warmers he was wearing on his feet... Mr Humpheries telling the man he should’ve watched his socks in lukewarm water when one had shrunk.. the guy says, “I can’t see that” , referring to the label...Mr Humpheries then says,”’of course it’s shrunk!” Then Goldberg gives him his money back ... on one sock!
3:48 to 4:21 Jeffery Segal provides one of the most hilarious 2 minutes of the series. During that time he is trying very hard not to break out in laughter.
Love this show. They used to show this on Public Television Channel 9 but haven't seen this in a long time. The other British Comedy I also watched was "Keeping Up Appearances" with Mrs. Bucket.

Mr. Harmon always sings the exact same song, the exact same phrase, and nothing else, every time he comes onto the floor.
There was one episode where he was singing A Foggy Day, but only one. I've always wondered about that as well, why always the same song.

This show still holds up today despite stereotypes and innuendos because the acting and writing are superb. The humor is good natured and not mean spirited.

Mr Humpheries telling the man he should’ve watched his socks in lukewarm water when one had shrunk.. the guy says, “I can’t see that” , referring to the label...Mr Humpheries then says,”’of course it’s shrunk!” Then Goldberg gives him his money back ... on one sock!
