Is it a coincidence that Zelda's tear activating a unique power in terako is how information and abilities are transfered to the sheikah slate from towers?
Nintendo in 2017: We wanted to create a single timeline to subvert people's expectations for Breath of the Wild Nintendo in 2020: We wanted to create a second timeline to subvert people's expectations for Age of Calamity
@@aidankeys8534 I mean, the timelines are actually quite consistent (except for Four Swords Adventures). All the timelines perfectly represent a proper continuity. (Downfall timeline presents the slow decay and eventual collapse of Hyrule and the Royal Family | Child Timeline finishes the story of the Hero of Time and presents us a proper continuity in which Ganondorf is either dead, or in a psuedo near death state [unironically the best setup for BoTW/BoTW2 in the timeline] | and the Adult Timeline presents the exodus of Ancient Hyrule and the establishment of New Hyrule) The primary issues with continuity come from developing technology and new lore (Goddess Statues are a good example). Things that are as simple to explain as "old tech and new lore" which is something that happens all the time.
@@auravaury Technically, at least in languages based off C/CSS/C#/JS and such, (which all use semicolons) The if statements would have parentheses on that line, and only the statements inside would have semicolons along with after the closing parentheses. This could change depending on the language you are using though, but semicolons are used to tell the end of a statement, which the opening of an if statement technically is not. Still a very funny comment though
Honestly, I really doubt she accomplished this. It took a genius like Robbie 100 years to program Cherry's simple AI, I don't think the Queen was *that* intelligent.
Personally, from how Sidon describes the time travel, I think that the new champions were summoned to this new world because they were the only ones willing to listen and act upon a cry for help.
@BountyHunterAquxDP actually, I willingly did the Mipha recruiting mission again once I unlocked Sidon to see what would happen, since the entire mission leads up to baby Sidon fighting a Lynel whoops
The fact that Terrako, unlike all other non-corrupted Sheikah tech, exhibits characteristics of _sentience_ makes me wonder if there's something a bit deeper going on with this little guardian than "programming".
I didn't want to go as far as to say that he actually inherited her soul, since some people might feel that to be too much (what is conciousness?!). but... I mean... the screw that holds his "programming" is litterally called a "Blessed Screw". Blessed by the goddess? *wink wink*
@@MonsterMaze Souls do hold a big role in the Zelda series and possession is no stranger either. Perhaps the queen put some of her own life into the screw, which would explain why she passed so suddenly!!
The tear could act like distillation of sheikah info so in extention sheikah tech is powered by the sacred power (but this can also be kind of like the theory of sheikah tech can be purified malice: power(malice) - courage(green substance) = wisdom(sheikah tech) sacred power = courage + wisdom + power malice = courage + wisdom so the sacred power would be the pure triforce)
But that would mean malice lacks the one component that actually corresponds to Ganon as the holder of the Triforce of Power. I'm inclined to think that the sealing power is an extension of the Triforce of Wisdom, similar to you the Master Sword pertain to Link, and therefore the Triforce of Courage. If Zelda had had the complete Triforce, she would have been able to seal Ganon instantly just by wishing for it.
Sheika tech is the successful artificial creations of the power from the triforce of wisdom, malice is the consequence from trying to do the same with ganons triforce while he was sealed underground by the triforce of courage (which is what link will get down there)
It has probably been said already, but if Zelda's mother knew everything that was about to happen (her death, the calamity, and so on) she most likely DID put a piece of herself in Terreco. That's why when they see the shooting star on the night her mother died, Terreco plays the lullaby, saying don't fret I'm right here.
It's simple, Terrako uses Time Travel according to Zelda's wishes First time Zelda says "I have to protect everyone" so Terrako goes back in time so Zelda can more effectively protect everyone Second time she says "Everything I've done has been for naught" so Terrako brings proof that even in the worst case escenario her actions were not meaningless and created a new generation of Champions
After all Hylia is the goddess of Time, so it makes sense that Zelda's wishes can bring the power to control time. Such as Majora's mask when the Song of Time could temporarily alter time thanks to her, when it originally had no such power.
@@auravaury oh that just made me think that maybe Zelda's tear added or gave Terrako the power he needed to bring all those people there just my thought
for Terrako to know about the "champions" of the future, theres 2 possible ways for him to know: 1:he perhaps has access to the data of the divine beasts from the future, knowing his time traveling abilities, its not too much of a stretch to assume he may have info regarding the beasts and its successors 2:perhaps Terrako's call was as open as "the successors of the champions", so it just landed on Teba, Riju, Sidon and Yunobo simply because they were the succesors, that or they were nearby the beasts themselves and Terrako pulled anyone close to the beasts from any time given (without causing a paradox with Link)
And perhaps they were near the Divine Beasts and it's just a big coincidence. It's literally a deus ex machina (or goddess ex machina?), so don't think too much about it
@@auravaury to be fair it is Zelda so putting a lil bit of thought doesn't hurt, specially if you just give it the benefit of the doubt and fill in the gaps with a reasonable assuption
@@becodeku I also take into account that it's Nintendo and they care more about fun than narrative. And seeing them come back in time to the rescue was incredibly fun!
@@auravaury this is very much a story for the people who didn't like the bittersweet ending and honestly im neck deep into it because i just want to see these characters happy
It's a stretch, but I like to imagine all the time travel being guided by the goddess of time. While Zelda's mother may not be able to see enough of the future, a divine being certainly could and would design a balanced system. Zelda's mother may have programmed Terrako to activate time travel and then prayed for the goddess for that function to help her daughter. Edit: Also, just finished watching the video and... beautiful. >w
Oh yeah, and that same goddess could be the one responsible for breath of the wild's incapabilty of being placed in one of the 3 old timelines, as if she made the blend possible
Holy shit... this theory is amazing. What a wonderful thought, that the queen is basically Terrako. Wow. Never thought of it but it all makes sense. I asked myself too. "Why did the explosion from Terrako make Ganon vulnerable?" Now I know. And the part where Terrako is trying to protect Zelda from a potential heartbreak and trying to "talk" sense into the king just like a mom would do... man you even got me a bit emotional there ngl. :')
Terrako is the biggest hero of the story, he deserved the least to "die" in the fight. I can't wait to repair him, I have now 60% of the necessary parts to bring him back to life.
That is such a sweet theory. I'm not sure how much of it was intended and how much of it is just serendipitous coincidences, but I think it adds so much to Age of Calamity's story to imagine that Zelda's mom imbued at least some of her essence into Terrako. Terrako being a product of divine magic would explain why it is sentient, why it is so much more powerful than the other Sheikah technologies, and why it reacts every time it is exposed to that magic. I also really like what user Aura Vaury said about Terrako using his time travel powers to answer Zelda's spoken wishes. I mean, granted, it mostly is an excuse to add playable characters to the roster, but I like that it's at least slightly more thought out than just that. Also, there is a precedent in BOTW for the royal bloodline recieving prophetic visions and dreams : in her journal, Zelda describes a dream she had about a godly-looking woman warning her that there wasn't much time left, likely a divine message. If she was able to receive a divine message even though her power hadn't been unlocked yet, is it that unlikely to imagine that the queen, who had unlocked her power, would receive such prophetic dreams as well? Maybe she dreamed of her upcoming death and that's what led her to imbue some of her power into Terrako. [EDIT] This made me want to pick up AOC again, so I did, and I checked Terrako's "arsenal". In French, its weapon isn't called "blessed screw" like several people have pointed out, however, its description reads "a special screw that holds an energy of GREAT PURITY" which does sounds very divine-poweresque!
There is a reason why calamity ganon is almost invulnerable, I think it's to do with what he needed to become whole again, Calamity Ganon tried to regenerate a physical body in botw right? It failed because it wasn't complete but aster's body was what sped the process to completion, and ancient energy in it's purest state was thrown at the creature since it was partly ancient energy which does MASSIVE damage against itself as normal weapons don't have the same effect.
Yeah Terrako provides the ancient shiekah tech machinery and energy and Astor provided calamity Ganon with a body but it's still not enough to fully restore Ganon to anything more than just a body made of malice
I think it is because they are all Zelda, reincarnations of Hyiia, and the Title and Journey have to be passed. Basically, it sets the Heroine's Journey.
It's possible that every queen of Hyrule knows how to use Hylia's power, and therefore would know how to seal Ganon. It would be a pretty lame plot if the queen could light beam any enemy to death from the start of the game.
@@BlaxeFrost-X I think Zelda's Lullaby is used to awaken the incarnation Sealing Power. In Ocarina she heard it constantly so she had no problems with it, while in BoTW she almost never heard it so she struggled to awake them
I think another thing we should consider is the fact that her sacred power is shown many times to be the Triforce. While the queen building Terrako is possible, it’s also possible that it is being activated and gains power to travel through time because of a wish Zelda placed in the Triforce.
I disagree with your idea that Terrako was made by the queen but it was still a great video! 👏 Even if the queen was interrested by ancient technology, do you really think she could have made Terrako? Terrako is the most powerfull piece of Sheikah technology, able to amplify the slate's abilities, it has a mind of its own, it can time travel, etc... Even with all the knowledge about the Sheikah tech in BotW or at the end of AoC they wouldn't be able to create something like Terrako, so it's hard to imagine that the queen made it 100 years ago, alone, and with little knowledge of the technology. I'm going to take Cherry as a comparison: it took Robbie (the greatest expert in Guardians) decades to make... I think that if the queen really made Terrako it would be a big plot hole, bigger than Zelda and her father seemingly forgeting about its existance.
I agree with you there. It would be a pretty massive stretch for Zelda's mother to manage all that. I could see Terrako mostly being intact when Zelda and her mother found it. Maybe fixing it was a project they were doing. Being protective of Zelda could just be natural programming. The ancient guardians were made to face the Calamity and in connection to that likely had programming to protect the royal family. Zelda's lullaby is an ancient song as well so it could have been programmed in there from the start.
It’s more likely that Terrako’s power comes from the queen, specifically his time traveling powers since the screw that allows him to do it is literally called the "blessed screw".
@@star_toast I don't think it comes from the Queen, I think it comes from Zelda since it's likely the thing that Shines in the beginning. Kinda like a "she saved herself" story
Great video! While I was disappointed with the direction AoC's story took, I am glad we got to see more of Zelda's mother. A little theory I had is that the blue screw that powers Terrako is made of timeshift stones. It would make sense since the screw is what powers Terrako (along with the sealing power), and gives him the power to time travel.
But wasn't it backwards? Team ganon was in the position of Team Humanity/Connor trying to keep the future from changing, reprograming terrako to be ganon
I personally think that the reason that terrako can time travel is that he/it was once a sheika experiment with time travel, to try and replicate the effects of the ocarina of time, since that exists in all 3 branches of the time line. This is probably why he's equipped with the tiny axes we see in his boss battle, and why he has the option to self destruct in ganon's face, with such valuable and dangerous technology, his original creators would want him to be able to defend himself against thieves and be able to destroy himself to keep time travel out of the hands of the royal family's enemies.
15:15 This is also proven by an info about "Harbinger Ganon" in the loading screen. I quote: "Besessenheit Ganon - Ganons Zorn folgt dem Wächter, der die Zeit überwindet, und ergreift Besitz vom Wächter dieser Zeitlinie, der sich in Zeldas Labor befindet" (this is German so I try to translate) "Harbinger Ganon - Ganons Malice followed the Guardian, who overcomes Time, and posesses the Guardian of this Timeline, who is in Zeldas Laboratory"
I don't think Zelda forgot about Terrako, I think it was repressed due to trauma -- her Mom dies, likely soon after Terrako was made, then her only friend is taken from her, while she was still grieving :(. Trauma is very, very potent -- especially its effect of memory. Thats just my two cents though. Great video my man! High quality as always :)
Y'know, it's really cool. Out of game, Link to the Past was our first time hearing Zelda's Lullaby, and was the first to note the complete triforce being such a divine power (Zelda 1 and 2, if I'm not mistaken, didn't go as in detail to how powerful the triforce was, and even then it was split). In universe, the first time we hear Zelda's Lullaby is in Skyward Sword; where Zelda's connection to the triforce would be revealed for the very first time.
Literally balled my eyes out! 😭 I'm a Zelda veteran and have played these games since I was a little girl! I can't thank you enough for bringing this all to life, every video you make makes my heart happy! Thank you so much! 💗
I said it on Twitter and I'll say it again: Your thumbnails (and videos too) are on point! Love all the effort you put into your editing, it makes your videos stand out and I always look forward to your new uploads. Keep up the great work! 😊
Tears are actually a really important feature in Zelda. The Shiekah Symbol is not a tear in vain. In a tear emotion, force is capsulated. Since its zelda's tear this means that a drop of a goddess got on the little guardian. Maybe Terrako was programmed to open a massive time portal if zelda cries as a last effort option. I mean, the teardrop of zelda on Terrako is like the process when Link gets a new shiekah module. I think it makes sense
This theory was made _before_ Tears of the Kingdom, however, I would like to mention that Zelda is confirmed to have both Light AND Time magic, because of her blood connection to Sonia and Rauru... This means that Zelda's mom _also_ probably had these powers. Perhaps she imbued Terrako with some of her power, hence why he's able to time travel?
I’m still pretty sure terrako was able to time travel because Zelda has the full triforce and her wish was that everyone had to be protected. The only way this could happen would be time travel
I mean, the wish could've just stopped the calamity at the moment she wished for it, kinda defeats the purpose of the wish that zelda still fails to save her people but saved another reality
The Zelda's Lullaby part really caught my attention. Music carries the emotions of times past, unblemished, while supposed facts are reshaped to suit the person telling them. Fi warned us about that in Skyward Sword. It's a message to players they've been trying to make for a while now about how to interpret the Zelda canon - I.E. not literally but symbolically. This fits far better when you consider it as a psychological metaphor (as Rebecca Tripp frequently points to), because the Anima (aka The Goddess) is genuinely capable of predicting the future of the collective unconscious. Think of it as a forecast of people's behavior. Think about the 8 Champions. Cautious Sister and Headstrong Brother. Soothing Mother and Energetic Daughter. Arrogant Teacher and Humble Student. Strong Stalwart and Weak Coward. They are symbolic opposites that nevertheless must fulfill the same roles, a consequence of Hyrule's paradigm shift.
Beautifully done video. You did an excellent job filling in the blanks in the lore that Nintendo left and adding depth to the story. I don’t know that Nintendo intended for this interpretation, but it’s a good one and is now part of my head canon.
It seem like Ocarina of Time's Zelda remembers the Adult timeline on some level remembers that timeline as a Child, subconsciously. I wonder if Zelda's mother in Breath of the Wild has that power, too.
It kinda reminds me of the ending of Ocarina of Time, it isn't really explained why zelda was able to use the ocarina to create another reality in the past where link, turned back to a child again, could stop ganon from taking the triforce... at least it is consistent and very similar... Breath of the Wild is like Adult Timeline for Ocarina of Time and Age of Calamity it's the Child Timeline
If you think about it, everyone in the original timeline died because the King confiscated the best egg boy. No egg, no towers, no advantage against the calamity.
i think the queen knew she was going to die so she used her powers to create terrako (not the guardian itself, i think she found that somewhere, but his AI or sentience or whatever it is) to train zelda, only it didn’t really work out the way she planned.
If one can be possessed by Ganon's Malice then it is possible that one could be possessed by Zelda's mothers love. Also, the explosion by Terraco at the end would be him coming into contact with himself (the harbinger form)
Great Video! Watching you Zeltik and the commonwealth realms theories and discussions have really started to bring me around to the story of this game. I hate to be that guy though, in the beginning you said that 'Zeldas lullaby' debuted in Ocarina of time, when in truth it is present first in A Link to the Past. I think it is called 'Zeldas rescue' or something in the song list. It didn't become her Lullaby until OoT. Sorry just had to point it out. Thanks for the quality content! Correction: I watched that bit again and you said it 'debuted as a story element in OoT.' Ignore this post Lol
Oh yeah no worries man! I'd rather you be "that guy", because it sparks conversation. I purposely used the wording "story element" when I referred to the songs' debut. It does indeed play in AlttP as well. But background music is something that exsists outside the realm of existance of the characters of course. The song didn't have story implications in that game ^^
I have a theory that Age of Calamity could be connected to BOTW 2, based on Zelda and Link exploring the castle and finding Terrako, and seeing it as the key to saving Hyrule's past, and current Present. So, with the help of the Champions of BOTW, Purah, and Robbie, they figure a way to the past, using Terrako, or a new version of Terrako. I guess this could explain how Teba, Riju, Sidon, and Yunobo all mention fighting alongside Link before during AOC. Though there are a few cracks in this....It's just a theory.
It’s highly unlikely that Link and Zelda will find Terrako in the castle. He jumped into the time portal and never returned to Breath of the Wild’s timeline.
Excellent video, had me at a tear knowing that terrako was basically an essence of the queen, had my own suspect theory since he was always acting like parent to Zelda.
Not exactly, the queen of hyrule could have married in, but if thats the case then the theory is dead so i guess in the case for the theory the queen would be Zelda
Yes, according to Zelda II lore. All women born into the royal bloodline are to be named Zelda. This has the unusual consequence that the bloodline is matriarchal whereas the royal lineage appears to be patriarchal (since the King outranks the Princess after the death of the Queen). I don't think there's ever been confirmation that Link marries into the royal family in any game but it is easy to speculate that this happens. SS lore suggests this is part of Demise's Curse and is a recurring happening.
Ok yeah- people are forgetting that Torikko only travels a couple of weeks in the past at the beginning. He has NO IDEA how the events in BOTW would would unfold- how the hell would he pull The descendants of the champions from 100 YEARS IN THE FUTURE OF A TOTALLY DIFFERENT TIMELINE???
About the future champions, there are 3 importants details that explain why they were chosens in the time travel to help: 1- They are from BOTW timeline, same as Terrako. So it's make sense that he opens a portal to that timeline. The portal for the time travel isn't for the same year because... 2- They are the "champions" at the time that Calamity Ganon was defeated by Link in BOTW, so they are the best "champions" to defeat Calamity Ganon on AoC. 3- They are conect to the future Divine Beasts. They didn't control the machines on the future, but they helped Link to free the Divine Beasts from Ganon's malice. Sum this with the fact that Zelda was thinking about the champions trapped and the future "champhions" being teleport dirrectely inside the Divine Beasts (even before Terrako opened them to people beyond the champions) and you have enough reasons to why they were choosen. (It's a complex subject and my english isn't perfect, but I hope that everything turns out understandable)
@@zakzerak7191 buuuuuuuuut it's what Zelda said In her memory about her grandmother being the one that could hear the voices and her mother couldn't. Not exactly solid confirmation but pretty darn close
@@kevinjr6650 She says different things in different languages. Which makes it hard to say exactly what she means. But she says something along the line of: Grandmother could hear the voices from the spirit realm, and that her mothers' power would also awaken in her (or something like that). I dunno man... it's hard xD. I wish nintendo would be a bit more clear about certain things, haha
The part of Zelda activating the time traveling mechanism from terrako via a teardrop, reminds me of updating your sheikah slate via runes. There’s also that whole, Zelda = triforce of wisdom = the color blue & sheikah tech also bearing blue & sheikahs being appointed to be followers of hylia forever. Tons of LoZ theorists covered and went into full depth about it but there’s the rundown. So to me, I don’t think it’s really -that- weird that a tear was able to activate some weirdo time traveling powers. Even if she didn’t awaken her powers she still has the goddess blood within her. And all that stuff
Isn't it way more plausible that Terrako is simply a guardian built by the ancient Sheikah specifically for the Royal family? Perhaps even specifically to protect the Royal family's children, like some sort of robotic egg nanny? And it was just lost to time (no pun intended) until Zelda and her mother happened upon it? That would explain the lullaby, it's connection to the Hyrule's divine powers, and it's more compact and cutesy design if it was meant to be "kid friendly". This theory just feels a little far-fetched to me imo. Love your videos though, especially the graphics and design, that stuff is top-notch!
We should note that the devotion to Zelda can be noted as a "this is the first person I see after being made, so this must be the one who created me" type of thing. As for the guardian's powers, we have to remember that these pieces have all technically existed for at least 10,000 years, so this time travel ability and all of the parts associated with it would come from those pieces, after all even when BotW hit and there was far more research done, the most they could do is lightly improve runes and replicate already existing technology. The one thing that could have been newly made in BotW is the Ancient Armor, but that wouldn't really be as advanced to make as a full automaton like Terrako. Also of note: the time travel abilities (and possibly the very power source that activates and runs Terrako) would reside within that little screw we see baby Zelda put in Terrako in the memory, as when our hard-boiled friend is destroyed we see Zelda take that same screw, and it glows when the 4 future champions have to go back to their time. As for the fact that it knows Zelda's lullaby, that's easily something that could've been taught to Terrako by the Queen, and any sass and personality it has could very well be a byproduct of either Sassy Queen or Sassy Sheikah Tech parts. P.S. To everyone who questions why 6-year old Zelda would create a lullaby machine that also has death lasers, swords, spears, and axes at its disposal, why wouldn't she? I don't know a single child who wouldn't want a cool badass death-bot that also does the nice things for them, if only they had the ability to make it.
Personally, I think terrako's desire (or programming) to protect zelda was what brought Sidon and the others to aid her I don't think it completely depends on what he queen did.
I think it's equally possible that the ability to time travel was a feature designed by the ancient sheikahs in preparation for the great calamity, specifically that they designed the screw like bit that actual as Terakko's central processing unit. It's entirely possible as we know the Sheikah possess a ludicrous amount of foresight due to the enlightenment they gained worshiping the Goddess, as they literally programmed the Sheikah towers and slate to only activate after link fell and likely created the shrine of resurrection knowing the hero would one day need to use it along with all the trials to restore his strength and skill afterwards. If they saw all of that it's equally possible that they felt the need to create a timeline that avoids this dark future and created Terrako's CPU knowing that the queen of hyrule from the future and Zelda would find an assemble it, it's also possible that that's why there are parts scattered around hyrule specifically meant to repair Terakko. This would also explain why Terakko possesses the ability to activate the towers and grant use of the runes to more than one person, after all Zelda and her mother shouldn't have even know about these abilities or how they work as the full potential of the slate wasn't unlocked until thousands of years later in the original timeline. The final piece of evidence supporting the idea that the Ancient Monk's had something to do with Terakko and awareness of an alternate timeline is the fact that Monk Maz Koshia awoke early in this timeline and assisted the hero and their companions in this timeline. Likely reacting to the activation of the towers or the arrival of Terakko seing it fit that he joins the effort knowing that there was a chance of success in this timeline (though admittedly, i'm not entirely sure as to the canonicity of his inclusion). I have no doubt that Zelda's mom could have contributed to his programming, I'm just not entirely sold that she had that level of awareness of sheikah technology necessary to enable him to to be compatible with both the slate and the towers when they hadn't even been discovered yet. Side note I heard a theory pre release from someone on twitter that the reason Terakko activated in response to Zelda's sealing power was due to that sealing power being the full Triforce. The full Triforce can grant wishes so it's possible that by saying "she must protect everyone" she subconsciously made a wish and the triforce awoke Terakko to achieve that goal. (not sure the validity to that but it's another possible perspective).
The sheer quality of your videos bamboozles me every time. Amazing work! I‘m always looking forward to a new video from you :) As someone who studies programming, I would love to see how guardians & co. are programmed. I bet it would be quite fascinating!
Here's the thing I realized as I watched the video. The little guardian's origin in Breath of the Wild is unknown, since all we learn from Terrako is information from the Age of Calamity timeline, that is different from Botw timeline before he even arrived.
For Dragon Ball fans, think of it kind of like Trunks coming back in time to prevent the future in which the artificial humans killed all the heroes. He came back to prevent, in a new timeline, the calamity that had befallen his own.
Zelda's Lullaby was first shown to us in A Link to the Past. Anytime Zelda or the 7 maidens (ala Sages. Mind you this was the game right before OoT so Nintendo was still kind of figuring things out. OoT kind of set their visions in stone, but ALttP was the start of these ideas) are shown in A Link to the Past, Zelda's Lullaby plays in the background. Same goes for Ganondorf's iconic theme song and the iconic theme song for Kakkariko Village.
The fact that the potential new DB Champions were sent to rescue their respective predecessors is so freaking awesome! I had to hold in my happy squealing so I didn’t disturb my entire city.
I have an odd feeling terrako was an extra ancient, like original guardian, but then found and modified by zeldas mother. She might have not known of all the time travel, but honestly this is an all around great video. I agree with a lot. Any what sucks is how much we don’t know 😅
I think part of the Queen's spirit is inside Terrako since Sidon said "I could faintly hear a voice calling to me" maybe that's the voice/whisper of Zelda's mother calling Sidon and the other 3 to help in the battle.
@@meking1808 well if it helps, Aonuma is a fan of Fumito Ueda's games and have taken inspiration from each other. In fact they're actually friends, and Ueda gave him a copy of The Last Guardian to play.
Wow, a reference to the terminator to tell the difference between timelines? That is very interesting. Terrako is a great character for a little Guardian. Very adorable too.
I had interpreted the scene of Terrako yelling and pointing at Link as a sort of “It’s him! He’s the Chosen One!” Rather than trying to end a moment between him and Zelda, but I can see how it could be viewed that way. Now I’m not sure which one it’s supposed to be ^^’
God I started bawling when you explained Terrako's purpose. It doesn't help that it's my little sister's birthday today(I haven't spent it with her since we were little) and I'm as protective of her as Terrako is of Zelda...
A retroactive explanation for the time traveling defendants is that they’re sages that would awaken in totk. Yukon followed Teba, so in reality the portal was calling Tulin instead of Teba to come
I can appreciate what your well constructed video does in attempting to giving some logic to Terrako. Good job as always BTW. I however; cannot bring myself to find any fondness for the egg guardian. Terrako ultimately becomes far to convenient of a solve everything plot device mysteriously fixing all of the hero's problems through poorly explained deus ex machina techno magic given the context of the game. It takes far to large of a lead faith for me to believe any of the actions Terrako accomplishes should ever be possible, and even accepting the possibility that it possesses these abilities having to ignore all the logical implications that such abilities would be able to accomplish takes away all interest I had for the outcome of a story that's trying to present itself in a serious manner. I can understand why some people like Terrako, but for me he takes away any stakes or consequences that the heroes might have had to face, and leaves us with a blander milk toast version of the ending we already got from BOTW.
You may have all these negative viewpoints....but we all know you'd like to own the plushie. :) (As much as I enjoy the story in _Age of Calamity_ personally, I don't think it would have held up as well if certain characters hadn't been rendered so damned _cute._ Terrako and Baby Sidon, for example, have a high squee factor. I didn't consider that as the selling point until I heard at least one or two other yt-ers who didn't like the egg, say that it was still very cute.) Edited to add: It is strange to say, but the biggest emotional impact the story had on me was with Sidon. That poor guy never processed his sister's death properly, and Mr. Winning Smile carries some dark pain on that level. Reuniting with his sister again....well, watch their interactions closely and you can see the impact it had. He even chokes on a breath a final time before answering her when she says goodbye to him. Brokenhearted all over again. I think I valued small stuff like these moment more than the adventure that leads up to such moments. And Revali: Someone please go kick that bird in the butt, because it was very clear he does not care one bit about how others think of him, even if he does care about his home and is nicer to those he really respects (such as Urbosa and Teba).
Aside from the notes of Zelda's Lullaby being present in the Sanctum, a portion of Zelda's Lullaby actually is played briefly on the Hyrule Castle Indoors theme song in BOTW.
Something I thought of is that the queen of high all knew that a high rule was going to get destroyed at some point and so she knew that if if she were to get defeated then, and then she made a special feature inside terror that her spirit couldn’t have it and therefore use Terry as a sort of Mech if you will
A thought about Terrako: If Terrako is connected to the Sheikah technology, it's possible that he knew of the future champions because their spirits are connected to the divine beasts. Then, there's more time line splitting: If Queen didn't make Terrako; if Link didn't get the sword at a young age; if Link's sacrifice for Zelda didn't awaken her power.
I think Zelda's mother put some of her own power into Terrako. That's why it could control time to a degree. Also why Ganon was stronger, when he had some of the divine power under his control with his control of the other "Dark Terrako". Which is why Zelda's version of Terrako attacked CG it was destroying both versions of itself. Thus cancelling out CG power boost.
Is it a coincidence that Zelda's tear activating a unique power in terako is how information and abilities are transfered to the sheikah slate from towers?
Suddenly the tear drop on the Sheikah logo makes sense

@@aidankeys8534 I mean, the timelines are actually quite consistent (except for Four Swords Adventures). All the timelines perfectly represent a proper continuity. The primary issues with continuity come from developing technology and new lore (Goddess Statues are a good example). Things that are as simple to explain as "old tech and new lore" which is something that happens all the time.

The fact that Terrako, unlike all other non-corrupted Sheikah tech, exhibits characteristics of _sentience_ makes me wonder if there's something a bit deeper going on with this little guardian than "programming".
Yeah I'm pretty confident that Terrako is a vessel for zelda's mother herself
I didn't want to go as far as to say that he actually inherited her soul, since some people might feel that to be too much (what is conciousness?!). but... I mean... the screw that holds his "programming" is litterally called a "Blessed Screw". Blessed by the goddess? *wink wink*

Well, the divine beasts seem to be sentient too
The tear could act like distillation of sheikah info so in extention sheikah tech is powered by the sacred power (but this can also be kind of like the theory of sheikah tech can be purified malice: power(malice) - courage(green substance) = wisdom(sheikah tech)
sacred power = courage + wisdom + power
malice = courage + wisdom
so the sacred power would be the pure triforce)
Just like when a new Rune or map info is added to the Slate in BotW! And, of course, the Sheikah Symbol is a an eye with a tear.
@@amanofnoreputation2164 I was not implying that these are the triforce but a by-product of their concept
Sheika tech is the successful artificial creations of the power from the triforce of wisdom, malice is the consequence from trying to do the same with ganons triforce while he was sealed underground by the triforce of courage (which is what link will get down there)

That's why when they see the shooting star on the night her mother died, Terreco plays the lullaby, saying don't fret I'm right here.
I said it before, if the magic that powers sheika tech is spirit energy, the spirit powering terriko is the queen.
Exactly,Terrako plays the lullaby, the same song that Zelda used to send the hero of Time seven years back in time,so it explains the timeline split
Hello there. Also great video, Donny!
First Nintendo Black Crisis and now you.
General Commonwealth Realm you are a bold one.
Same to you good sir!
Hello good sir! I loved your theory today, pls keep it up!
General Kenobi?
It's simple, Terrako uses Time Travel according to Zelda's wishes
First time Zelda says "I have to protect everyone" so Terrako goes back in time so Zelda can more effectively protect everyone
Second time she says "Everything I've done has been for naught" so Terrako brings proof that even in the worst case escenario her actions were not meaningless and created a new generation of Champions
After all Hylia is the goddess of Time, so it makes sense that Zelda's wishes can bring the power to control time. Such as Majora's mask when the Song of Time could temporarily alter time thanks to her, when it originally had no such power.
@@auravaury oh that just made me think that maybe Zelda's tear added or gave Terrako the power he needed to bring all those people there just my thought
for Terrako to know about the "champions" of the future, theres 2 possible ways for him to know:
1:he perhaps has access to the data of the divine beasts from the future, knowing his time traveling abilities, its not too much of a stretch to assume he may have info regarding the beasts and its successors
2:perhaps Terrako's call was as open as "the successors of the champions", so it just landed on Teba, Riju, Sidon and Yunobo simply because they were the succesors, that or they were nearby the beasts themselves and Terrako pulled anyone close to the beasts from any time given (without causing a paradox with Link)
And perhaps they were near the Divine Beasts and it's just a big coincidence. It's literally a deus ex machina (or goddess ex machina?), so don't think too much about it

Edit: Also, just finished watching the video and... beautiful. >w
Oh yeah, the goddess of time ^^. That is definitely a possibility. They would probably have the knowledge of time itself.

TimeCop Law #1: never touch your doppelganger.

Astor's body could have sped up the process, but maybe it was Harbringer Ganon ? Or both ?
@@julianjulian8806 It gave the Dark King of Evil a proper body.
Yeah Terrako provides the ancient shiekah tech machinery and energy and Astor provided calamity Ganon with a body but it's still not enough to fully restore Ganon to anything more than just a body made of malice
This a general question about all the Zelda games but why is the queen of hyrule always dead?
A character less to develop
Simple, the Hylian Royal family has a bad case of Disney Mom syndrome
I think it is because they are all Zelda, reincarnations of Hyiia, and the Title and Journey have to be passed. Basically, it sets the Heroine's Journey.
It's possible that every queen of Hyrule knows how to use Hylia's power, and therefore would know how to seal Ganon. It would be a pretty lame plot if the queen could light beam any enemy to death from the start of the game.
Because it’ll make the princess (Zelda) useless since there’s already a stronger Zelda (the mom) who already has the sealing power

I almost didn't watch this, but I'm so glad I did! Your comment on Terrako judging link as a suitor just like a mother would made me smile
Zelda lullaby is most likely passed down by the skyward sword Zelda since she had the ballad of the goddess, the reversed zelda's lullaby.
Is it posible that, although lost by the passage of time, the song still has the same meaning and/or power?
@@BlaxeFrost-X I think Zelda's Lullaby is used to awaken the incarnation Sealing Power. In Ocarina she heard it constantly so she had no problems with it, while in BoTW she almost never heard it so she struggled to awake them
Coincidentally, the version Terrako sings to Zelda is in the same key as Ballad Of The Goddess!
I think another thing we should consider is the fact that her sacred power is shown many times to be the Triforce. While the queen building Terrako is possible, it’s also possible that it is being activated and gains power to travel through time because of a wish Zelda placed in the Triforce.
4:14 Zelda's Lullaby actually made its debut in a Link to the Past

When Terrako played Zelda's lullaby for the first time, *I cried*
I disagree with your idea that Terrako was made by the queen but it was still a great video! 👏
Even if the queen was interrested by ancient technology, do you really think she could have made Terrako?
Isn't worse that in the flashback we see zelda make it? Terrako even has weapons and she didn't know about the ancient shield
But wasn't it backwards? Team ganon was in the position of Team Humanity/Connor trying to keep the future from changing, reprograming terrako to be ganon
@@BlaxeFrost-X Kind of. But it's still incredibly similar.

This is also proven by an info about "Harbinger Ganon" in the loading screen. I quote: "Besessenheit Ganon - Ganons Zorn folgt dem Wächter, der die Zeit überwindet, und ergreift Besitz vom Wächter dieser Zeitlinie, der sich in Zeldas Labor befindet" (this is German so I try to translate)
"Harbinger Ganon - Ganons Malice followed the Guardian, who overcomes Time, and posesses the Guardian of this Timeline, who is in Zeldas Laboratory"
Great theory! I like the idea that the Triforce acts as a Force controller, rather than being powerful in itself.
I was just reading the post when I got a notification, perfect timing!
That is so sad :'(
Wild Zelda went through to much, she more than deserves the happy ending she gets with Link and the new sages in Totk

Idek what to think of this but I like it
I think the biggest/BEST twist in this game was the reveal of how the King survived lol

Thank you! im glad you liked it. Hopefully more will be explained in either the DLC, or Botw2 ^^

I hate to be that guy though, in the beginning you said that 'Zeldas lullaby' debuted in Ocarina of time, when in truth it is present first in A Link to the Past.

Every time I hear Terrako’s lullaby my heart hurts a little more. That made me cry on the last level. Absolute agony.
About the future champions, there are 3 importants details that explain why they were chosens in the time travel to help:
1- They are from BOTW timeline, same as Terrako.

I still think Terrako was only awakened via a wish Zelda made upon the Triforce when she unlocked her powers
I‘m always looking forward to a new video from you :)
As someone who studies programming, I would love to see how guardians & co. are programmed. I bet it would be quite fascinating!
Here's the thing I realized as I watched the video. The little guardian's origin in Breath of the Wild is unknown, since all we learn from Terrako is information from the Age of Calamity timeline, that is different from Botw timeline before he even arrived.
I noticed the part about Zelda's lullaby was said to debuted in OOT but it is in LTTP when you first meet Zelda.
I love the video!!
For Dragon Ball fans, think of it kind of like Trunks coming back in time to prevent the future in which the artificial humans killed all the heroes. He came back to prevent, in a new timeline, the calamity that had befallen his own.
My favourite thing about Terrako is that really suspenseful and important cutscenes end with him going "Whoa..."
4:54 I’m fairly certain that it’s actually one of the songs the five Rito children sing after the Warbler’s Nest quest is completed
The name Terrako sounds oddly like Trico, the bird lion creature in the game 'The Last Guardian'
Coincidence?
I THINK NOT
Or maybe it comes from the word 'Terracota'.
@@samuelromerosoto3497 Maybe!
Terrako means wisdom.
Which Triforce piece is related to Zelda?
@@Mari_Izu Oh wow I never knew that! I guess my theory (if you can even call it that lol) was wrong but I'm glad I know this now
@@meking1808 well if it helps, Aonuma is a fan of Fumito Ueda's games and have taken inspiration from each other. In fact they're actually friends, and Ueda gave him a copy of The Last Guardian to play.
First of congratulations on 30k. Im proud of you bro
Also great video my friend, the editing and voiceovers are a lot better than when I last came by
I rate this theory as highly plausible! Nice work.
I finally finished AoC today and was able to watch this video (at long last) and it was great :D
I would love the idea of the queen programming Terakos behavior according to her own...making Terako a kind of unconcious reincarnation of herself
This is soooooo good. Dude you are the best! Keep up the good work.

I just want to talk about how much i love these edits
A retroactive explanation for the time traveling defendants is that they’re sages that would awaken in totk. Yukon followed Teba, so in reality the portal was calling Tulin instead of Teba to come
This is the best explaining of the legend of Zelda I’ve ever seen!
I love your theories and videos🤗
(As much as I enjoy the story in _Age of Calamity_ personally, I don't think it would have held up as well if certain characters hadn't been rendered so damned _cute._ Terrako and Baby Sidon, for example, have a high squee factor. I didn't consider that as the selling point until I heard at least one or two other yt-ers who didn't like the egg, say that it was still very cute.)
Edited to add: It is strange to say, but the biggest emotional impact the story had on me was with Sidon.
The Queen of Hyrule planned for all outcomes. A true mastermind.
Aside from the notes of Zelda's Lullaby being present in the Sanctum, a portion of Zelda's Lullaby actually is played briefly on the Hyrule Castle Indoors theme song in BOTW.
sidan showing up to protect mipha had me in tears, those two are just to cute ^^
