    Meisterhaft. More than an enjoyable improvisation, a fascinating one. I almost thought you were going to play both parts of a fugue in the pedal. Long unheard in the Catholic church, in the 1970s, I played it as a recessional at a Catholic wedding mass. No one seemed to recognize it, and a parishioner asked later if the tune had words. I said, "probably." 😇

    Wonderful and brilliant performance. I do have a question. In the early performances, as a younger musician,you were more physically animated and expressive. What was the lesson that you have learned and who was instrumental in teaching you to present yourself in a less physically demonstrable manner. Was this self taught by observation? Maturity as a musician? Less energy expended physically but more refined technique and expressive now, especially with your creative improvisation.

    • @missasinenomine
      @missasinenomine 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Originally (before TH-cam!) you couldn't see the organist, so really your question is superfluous. A pianist or a violinist may be an expressive contortionist. But not an organist!

      @@missasinenomine why not?

    • @missasinenomine
      @missasinenomine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@classicaldeb Because it's unnecessary. You can't see the organist. A concert instrumentalist is center stage in front of a large audience, so they put on much more of a show of body language.

    • @missasinenomine
      @missasinenomine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoshuaSobel Hmm, I don't think so. The question is, who, or what, caused you to be less physically animated when playing the organ. Correct? My answer is, because it's pointless. Nobody can see it! (except on YT). Why is a conductor so animated when on the podium? Because the whole auditorium is watching him/her! In rehearsals, they are not so demonstrative. In fact Sergiou Celibadache used to conduct in a sitting position. A lot of it is all show. The audience wants this. They think it's great. An organist is more of an introvert. He/she doesn't need all this freaking out nonsense.

      He added a 1/3 stop to one variation, though it doesn't say it on the screen. It adds a sound that you would normally only hear as a harmonic overtone as a played note. It's a little distracting at times, even to someone who has listened to a lot of organ music (me), but does add color.

At least here, you said "Ein feste Burg," so you have memorized part of it even though you didn't have the entire thing worked out.
