not sure if you have kids, or grandchildren, brothers, sisters, but let them hit you or try and take your life or that of another and see if you stand by them, you will ! you will want them to get help, but not prison, even if they're grown adults the likelihood of you not standing by them is very small, most cases like this there will always be parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, that will stand the closest to the family member who killed another family member. some ppl can't forgive in these cases, but its rare.
Probably because they had never seen her do anything insanely violent until the Lexapro levels built up in her system. Certainly NOT a coincidence. And yes, such drugs can militate against you're empathy and your sense of what are imaginary events vs real events.
I agree. A mentally unstable angry teen. I don't think she was insane tho. I think she knew what she was doing but forgot life isn't a movie and this isn't short lived, it's a life sentence.
@@joeking433a rational human being would never murder someone because, unless you have parents that teach you morals (what is right and what is wrong), a child would know murdering someone is wrong. Once a child has grown a bit and has a better understanding of the law, then they learn that murdering someone will lead to prison and in some cases, they may end up executed. I’ve been punished before growing up and never in my mind did I ever thought about murdering my parents. Unfortunate that this girl did not get a grip on herself and just deal with whatever punishment her mom would have given her. No phone without a month sure beats the hell out of prison for life.
Carly reminds me of my older sister. She always wanted her image to be a "sweet person" to everyone around her. She had the nickname "sunshine" at work, except she would say horrible things about her coworkers, neighbors, family members and strangers behind their backs. Yet she wouldn't let it go that she wasn't a "sweet person". None of those people would believe the truth about her if I told them, they would think I was lying. She hid it so well. I can see why Carly's family refuses to see the truth about her, she put on a great performance of being a "sweet person".
@@wolke1955 No, my life ended when she took her life 9/22/23. Her last words to me were "you better kill me before I kill myself, just you wait you'll be sorry." I wish she took me with her that day. We had just bought a home together 7 weeks before. We did everything together, I can't leave the house anymore. Our entire family is destroyed forever and we just want her back.
Trying to dodge a murder case with an insanity plea is always their go to… She plotted, planned, and bragged about it. She knew and was well aware of everything.
She and her mother got into an argument on the drive home. The spoiled, narcissistic little princess got ticked off about it & decided to kill her mother. That's it, period.
There are thousands of kids out there that fit that description and who fight with their parents, but she’s the only one blowing her Mother’s brains out. Plus, she had no prior history of violence or cruelty. So, I don’t think this case is as cut and dry as it appears to be.
Trying to make herself look even more childlike. One of the outfits she wore was screaming “little school girl”, with the light colored shirt and dark jumper.
@@aliciagwrjrnfj that poor man lost everything. Unfortunately, the girl is probably the closest tie he has to his late wife 💔. He’s probably still in shock and denial, and processing his grief. Regardless of how unhealthy it seems from the outside, I’m sure he’ll move on when he’s able.
She just seem very very stupid enough to be manipulated. And she seems like a stray dog wanting to be petted by "anyone". I just say police should dig into the relationship between stepfather and daughter.
@@AnneDC_2532 You do know that that is always investigated and of course there was no evidence of that, don't you? And even if so no one would be stupid even to have themselves get shot. But there are plenty of fools like you with a wild imagination.
🚩 Surveillance cameras in the kitchen?! The parents must have known she was not well, not trusted, but she was calculated and diabolical - her poor mother
Many questions. Has her stepdad been investigated? Why would a wife keep a loaded gun in a cubby under her side of the bed with her protector husband beside her in their bed? Did he load it and put it back? How did the daughter know it was there and went directly to retrieve it from that location? How did she shoot her mom three times and not miss but from close range only hit her stepdad with a clean through and through? Has he been investigated to see if he was involved? How could he scream bloody murder at the scene but on the witness stand he acts so weirdly accepting of the stepdaughter now? Were they in it together? Did he tell her to use her Mom's phone to send him a text? No accusations here, just many questions based on his behavior in court.
I agree there's a few strange things there that don't add up I didn't like the vibes of the stepfather or it could just be He's just weird I don't know Something seems off
While I have some of the same questions, I can answer 2. I'm a wife with 2 guns on my side of the bed whole my husband has none. He simply does not like guns. And most teens knows about and where everything is in the house.
She killed her mother in cold blood. The reason she acted the way she did with her stepfather was because her first shot crazed him, and he was able to grab the gun, stopping her from killing him. She was freaking out because she didn't kill him, and she knew she couldn't cover up her actions.
Her mother found out she was on drugs . Carly did not want her mother to punish her and keep her off drugs. She seemed so calculated. The only other possibility is the drugs made her paranoid. Except for the cutting ,most teenagers go through very similar behaviour but never ever kill.
I really don't think she was insane at the time of the crime. She has issues, for sure. Legally insane? Absolutely not. I've seen legally insane. It looked nothing like Carly Gregg. She's very scary. Very intelligent and not quite right in the head.
The defense attorney is trying to get a not guilty verdict by reason of insanity. She's a psychopath. A cold blooded killer who should never be free in society
During the entire trial, this “teenager” sits there barely batting an eyelid and showing no emotion. She even puts her chin in her hand like she is observing something really interesting. I wonder if the jury is taking all this in. She’s a full blown psychopath, but what do I know?
The defence expert withess saying she didn't know right from wrong when she put the camera in the fridge, shot her mother, hid the gun was just laughable
I am so sick of the mental health or trauma from childhood card being played when their caught for taking someones life. It is over played by people like her and there are a lot of them. This is exactly why people who really do have these mental heath issue are dismissed and judged and its not ok! These murders need to take responsibility for their actions and stop playing the victim..Shame on the defense team for being allowed to use mental heath as a defense when they clearly know its all crap.
I think mental health can help maybe soften it from first degree to second degree for example, but she also took a life and broke the law and needs to be held accountable.
@@glee_again2594it shouldn't. Second degree is specifically "an intentional killing without premeditation" That is reserved for cases like, you intended to punch someone but your punch killed them, or you were robbing a bank and the teller shoots at you but kills a bystander, or you intended to cause great bodily harm but not death and death occurred as a result. None of the examples of cases that are classified as second degree would work for her. She shot her mom in the face. That intended. She meant to kill, not just cause bodily harm. Her mental state doesn't change any of the qualifications for second degree.
Science/Medicine doesn’t recognize Evil. They always want to blame something other than true Evil exists in this world. A book from the 70’s by Dr Scott Peck was the first time I read of this…he was chastised by his colleagues…it’s called “People of the Lie”. Includes his personal case studies of some of his patients. A great read!
@@judymurray191 🤣 It was back in the day when I read the Road Less Traveled… and Romance novels by Kathleen Woodwiss …The Wolf and the Dove comes to mind 🤣
:33 She had a presence of mind to hide the gun behind her back both before she shot her mom and then again after as she goes into the kitchen and sits on the stool. She made sure the home surveillance camera didn't show her with the gun. Then she ran after shooting the step dad. Both show she knew what she was doing was wrong and she didn't want any evidence to prove she'd done it. Nope, not insane, just another evil kid.
What`s wrong was the drugs they put her on. Instead of dealing with the problem they thought they could just medicate like it was some virus. Her father being bi-polar and having other problems that never received treatment. Self medication is a big problem in this country. They warned her about using drugs while taking the drugs they put her on. Those drugs alter a persons personality. They have a very serious side effect when you stop taking them ,like she did. I had two tenants that rented from me. Both bi-polar and schizophrenic. The drugs make them feel odd. As soon as they start feeling normal and taking the drugs regularly they begin to think they don`t need them. When they stop taking them they go off like a bomb. Both became violent and self destructive. They totally destroyed the inside of the apartment. Both ended up in a mental hospital for the next year until they got their meds back under control. Many times the drugs just stop working all together. Lets not forget that during the trial she was heavily medicated. And she had a year worth of treatment in a controlled environment. But you could tell she was still, off. Kinda like a doll for the most part.
Why are those attorneys all touchy feely with a client? Compassion, maybe. Infantilising her? But it's just inappropriate, imo. to play with the child's hair in court.
That’s how psychopaths manipulate people. They play a role and it’s easy to fall for it. Watch her eyes when it’s the doctor against her evil looks squinting and side eye caus she wasn’t fooling him
I love how the defense asks the Psychologist how many children he has evaluated in situations like this. Um... None, because (thankfully) if the child is sane or mentally insane, this doesn't happen often!
Yippee, she goes bye bye now! The jury got this one absolutely right! This is pure evil, and I can't believe the people at court tv, were willing to let her get a pass! SHAME!!! Their thoughts would be different, if it were one of their loved ones!
She knew exactly what she was doing. She planned it methodically. The Lexapro was explained by the other dr. Her dosage was half of the beginning dose and it would take about 2 weeks of meds to be in her system. She was on it three days i think.
For her Mother , it was the end of the world. She isn’t mad , she was angry and she new exactly what she was doing. She looks evil. She is one dangerous kid.
I graduated 2yrs early. But I was so badly abused I was 11 when I wanted to kill my stepfather. They had a picture on the refrigerator of me and it said the enemy. That picture stayed there no one took it off. I was beaten for years. At 5yrs old I was beaten so badly my mother told me she thought he killed me. Because it was 1975 no one did anything. The blunt force trama was so bad it caused seizures until I was 16. I was the 2nd child in the state to have had seizures due to blunt force trama. I grew up at uconn med center. So u just don't know what happens in the home. And my parents had great jobs. You have to ask ur self, what was going on in the home we don't know about.
The stepfather is mistaken. She didn't look like she had seen a demon, she IS the demon. Her scream as she shot him was a tactic used in martial arts to startle your opponent and put them off balance.
I was on the fence until the State's doctor got up. Everything was so badly explained and vague on the criteria for insanity. I wanted clinical answers that fit that video before making a decision. I wanted Dr Clarke to explain how Carly could function and do calculating things in such a dissociative state. He never didn't. The State's doctor was comprehensive and made so much sense on determining insanity; - Carly's spacial awareness, (where the gun and camera was/peeping around the corner) - Executive skills and motor functioning (the ability to hit a target twice in the same place, unlocking the phone, finding intended target and typing a deceptive message) - Knowing what she did was wrong (trying to calm the dogs by saying "it's ok") With all of that, AND her disturbing journal, I've no doubt the jury are going to convict her. As a last ditch effort, she should have taken the stand and tried to gain some sympathy because right now she's toast.
I've been with family who are in full-blown psychosis and dissociation - one or two of those points may still be possible, but adding up so many individual moments of cognitive skillfulness makes a psychotic break entirely unlikely
@@gisellemagraibhaigh8342Agreed. Take DID for example. With a theoretical DID diagnosis (which might actually have been a better insanity defense), an alter could do most of those things independently, and for longer periods of time. Alters are also usually destructive and self harming. Sociopaths don't tend to cut themselves. But then again, borderliners do, so cluster B is a possibility. I go back and forth with this particular case. I'm concerned about the lack of an established and logical motive, and also the manner in which she gave herself up. I think a motive would be apparent with BPD. Something with a little more meat and bones. I'm torn because I don't think she's a well bunny. Whether she fits the criteria for a break or not, I don't know.
I have the same credentials as her Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with 11 years of experience . I agreed with her PHMNP and this Psychiatrist. I worked in the biggest Psychiatric Emergency room in NY, we see first hand psychosis and someone who isn’t psychotic .

not sure if you have kids, or grandchildren, brothers, sisters, but let them hit you or try and take your life or that of another and see if you stand by them, you will ! you will want them to get help, but not prison, even if they're grown adults the likelihood of you not standing by them is very small, most cases like this there will always be parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, that will stand the closest to the family member who killed another family member. some ppl can't forgive in these cases, but its rare.

I think mental health can help maybe soften it from first degree to second degree for example, but she also took a life and broke the law and needs to be held accountable.
@@glee_again2594it shouldn't. Second degree is specifically "an intentional killing without premeditation"
That is reserved for cases like, you intended to punch someone but your punch killed them, or you were robbing a bank and the teller shoots at you but kills a bystander, or you intended to cause great bodily harm but not death and death occurred as a result. None of the examples of cases that are classified as second degree would work for her. She shot her mom in the face. That intended. She meant to kill, not just cause bodily harm. @@LauralovesJesus1 agree
Something is wrong with her, but she knows what she did
Yeah, evil, some people are just that, plain evil.

Yeah. The way she stares into the camera is unnerving.

Carly is dangerous she’s a psychopath
I was on the fence until the State's doctor got up. Everything was so badly explained and vague on the criteria for insanity. I wanted clinical answers that fit that video before making a decision. I wanted Dr Clarke to explain how Carly could function and do calculating things in such a dissociative state. He never didn't. The State's doctor was comprehensive and made so much sense on determining insanity;
- Carly's spacial awareness, (where the gun and camera was/peeping around the corner)
- Executive skills and motor functioning (the ability to hit a target twice in the same place,
unlocking the phone, finding intended target and typing a deceptive message)
- Knowing what she did was wrong (trying to calm the dogs by saying "it's ok")
With all of that, AND her disturbing journal, I've no doubt the jury are going to convict her.
