I know this died long ago, but I've been there myself, about a year now, and yes, is a desperate place to be, I did inspected the Emperor's Clothes, and I'll be honest, those clothes are magnificent, white as snow, shining as the Sun, and they cast no shadow, but it'll take all of you to find them, that's what Francis is talking about. My best advice: cry out to Him, even as you are doubting who you are crying out to, and don't give up, He rewards those who earnestly, diligently seek after Him.
GOD HAS CHANGED MY LIFE THROUGH THIS MESSAGE
Just saying, I'm fairly certain Francis is about getting his picture taken while he is praying. I will bet money it's discouraging and frustrating. He doesn't want to be, or be treated, like a rock star. He just wants to be a disciple of Christ and a teacher.
Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
I am concerned that this message could make people not want to go to God in their sin. Jesus is so ready to forgive us beyond anything we do. There is now no condemnation in Christ Jesus. Don’t let sin keep you from running to the Lord. But I love his heart to give his all and always appreciate his sermons.
"Are you sure your relationship with God is your own relationship with God?" - for real... It took so long for me to realise I have to be there faithfully for this relationship to take course 🙏

I understand how you friend falling away from what is right and falling away from the Lord can cause doubt. But it is so important for you to have a relationship of your own with Jesus. The Lord's presence is so real in times of anguish and distress. I couldn't count the times when he wiped away every tear and he still does. He couldn't be any closer than in solitude. I affirm and strongly believe that He is a way maker and the God of miracles! So let us rejoice in trials and persecutions because God always manifests his glory and his abounding grace to those who's refuge and stregth is He.
