      Kyla Jones I disagree. It's not so much a matter of religion but money. The slave business was always very profitable and still is today in the case of human trafficking. it makes me wonder how much we've changed as a species.

      you have a lot to learn kyla 1st of all nothing spiritual ever came out of europe your fake chrsitianity is just a spin of off ancient nile valley african stories and concepts that were based off of astrology and other things that we learned through trial and error as we partake as life forms on this planet so since we charted the stars i find it ironic that white people always bring up slavery in movies when they try to tell black people history as if we started off as slaves the trans atlantic slave trade was the 1600s but the white supremacist world that we live in will never teach you the truth white people were civilized by africans the first white people to come on the scene as a corporate entity were the greeks here is the problem ancient kemet is dated at 3500 bce but the greeks dont appear in history until 331 bce and everything they know were taught to them by kemetic africans thats why till this day white people claim to be the ancient egyptions LOL but you guys tell us to go back to africa LOL a frenchman was gazing at the sphinx and he said just think "that this race of Black men, today our slave and the object of our scorn, is the very race to which we owe our arts, sciences, and even the use of speech !"

      it had nothing to with religion it always has been about protecting yourselfs genetically white people have the weakest gene out of all black people have the strongest so in order to prevent genetic annihilation you enslaved us i can go deep into all of this but thats just to sum it upbut thats the real reason why white people hate and murdered and enslaved us but thats rather late in history if you do research look up a group of black people that went by the name moors they also educated white people infact europe was ran by moors im not lying either study about the moors in spain o yeah it will blow your mind you white people didnt even have soap thats right black people introduced white people to soap and i will leave it at that

The indigenous Africans knew the difference, but to the outside observer they were the same. When you really think about it they, the Africans, wouldn't have sold their own people off. Keep in my mind that what took place on that ship is not even the worse of what was about to happen to my people. For the next 400 years they would see more pain and destruction than any of us could bare to face. Now what happens to a person who suffers such traumatic experiences such as the ones we see in this 2:42 scene and how does that not only effect the psyche of a person but the psyche of a culture. BLACK PEOPLE NEVER GOT THERAPY FOR THE CENTURIES OF VIOLENCE WE ENDURED. And you'll be stupid to think that generations of this kind of treatment does not effect us today, then think about how does it effect the decedents of those who kept blacks in bondage.

      I speak for my people when I say... It was a different time. Little was known about aboriginal people of Africa. They were viewed as animalistic, wild humans, untamed. Born in the jungle like an animal. And so sofisticated, intelligent, civilized Europeans came along and used them as free labor. But the more time Eueopeans spent around them, the more Europeans saw they were not wild animals, they had emotions, feelings, formed families, and developed their own customs. This led to them eventually being freed. It was more ignorance & not understanding that Africans were more civilized than originally thought. The world was a complete different place 300 years ago.

    Believe you me, I have never wept so hard over a movie in my entire life than I did when I first watched this entire scene. My wife is African American and my son bares the blood of both sides of the American story. Including the native story, her blood is 25% creek, while an entire swath of my family name was murdered in Missouri by a war party.
    It is the story of our nation, while at times brutal and wrong, beauty prevails and life goes on.

    • @The_Book_of_Obadiah
      @The_Book_of_Obadiah 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seán Quinn Most of the time when the Bible speaks about slavery it is talking about an employer/employee relationship. Unless you are self employed, when you go to work you are working for your master...hence, you are the slave. Slavery, as conducted in the west by Europeans is different. It is called chattel slavery where human being are reduced to the level of live stock and their humanity is never recognized. Very different from how the rest of the world conducted their respective forms of slavery.

    • @MrMagee78
      @MrMagee78 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      wasn't just the color of skin Africans own people sold them. all people can be cruel, life is cruel people still need to evolve..and any god that punishes is no god I want any part of.

    • @The_Book_of_Obadiah
      @The_Book_of_Obadiah 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrMagee78 They weren't selling their own people. They were selling competing or alien tribes. Prior to the Atlantic Slave Trade, slavery was not conducted the way Europeans had done it. Slaves were the people who were conquered in wars or had debts to pay off and they could eventually integrate within the larger community. That is a far cry from how slavery was conducted in the US. Beyond that, I doubt very seriously that if the leaders of those African nations had known the treatment and abuse that millions of people would have suffered at the hands of the Europeans, that they would have participated in the trade.

      ***** i know that the slavery in the Bible was mostly voluntary, when did i say it isn't?people that use slavery related verses to criticise the Bible are ridiculous.the slavery of ancient israel was totally different from the one involving africans in the america.the other slaves that the israelites held were captured prisoners of war, but even those had to be treated kindly.i said rubbish because i feel that the guy either tries to justify slavery with those verses or he tries to paint the Bible in a bad light, supposedly by showing that it supports slavery, but actually i'm not really sure of why he posted the verses. :) take care,man

      john cobain doing a project and this white dude named Lewis tappan. Not all whites are bad. That's when some of us black folk fail to realize and discriminate whites when we are doing any better

    • @hagamapama

      Don't be. Not all whites supported this, in fact remember this -- hundreds of thousands of white men died to put a final end to this problem as far as America is concerned. British soldiers and sailors risked their lives to scour the ocean for ships like the Tecora and the Amistad. We had a problem, realized we had a problem, and did what we could to fix it.
      Many cultures refuse to self-examine in this way and fix their own problems. The Romans chose to die rather than evolve. We passed that test. We evolved.
      For the centuries before the 19th century, slavery was just seen as the way the world was. It was the whites that looked at the way the world was, and said "** this we're fixing it!*
      And we did. We evolved and grew as a people. We made the same mistakes everyone else made. We just learned from them. It took us blood and centuries, but we passed the test. Few other conquering peoples performed as well as human beings as the white race did.
