An Interview with Chris Lewis (Chris Walks the UK)

- In 2017, Chris decided he was going to walk the entire UK coastline to raise money for a charity very close to his heart, SSAFA (The Armed Forces Charity). He set out with £10 to his name, in an effort to raise £100,000 which at the time seemed impossible.
6 years and £500,000 later, he crossed the finish line having gained a new best friend & travel companion, a Fiancé and a son! In addition, Chris walked the majority of the UK coastline in a Welsh Lewis tartan Cilt 🏴
Since returning, Chris has been very busy having written a gripping book and appearing in countless interviews and talks. He was kind enough to give us some of his time recently to talk about the travel experience that changed his life, and more specifically, his experience walking the UK coastline in a Welsh Cilt! 💪

It was Richard and Iris Bruce that contacted the Welsh Tartan Company and did a lot work to secure sponsorship of a cilt for Chris. They presented it to him on 27th October 2018 at Dalmally where Chris had been staying for a week with Team NI. He kept the cilt with him and didn’t wear it until he got to Lewis and Harris. Richard was also instrumental in getting Chris his second cilt. Don’t know how Chris didn’t remember this as these people supported him all the way up the west coast of Scotland to Shetland with kit, new tents, money for food and accommodation to mobile phones
