I went to Railfest once when I was about 9. I didn’t see 1983 (apparently it had caught fire and was being repaired elsewhere) and I don’t recall 2010, 7400 or 7964 there either. However I did see all the other heritage units as well as Sd70ace #8444. I wish I could’ve seen all of these but at least I got to visit here. Bailey Yard is an amazing place.
This is an amazing video.So many goodies rolling along. Union Pacific has always been my favorite road. Maybe because I have a passion for the BIG BOYS including 4014. One thing though, the engine wash cycle must be broken. I have never seen so many dirty locos. I know during service repairs they include a wash. I have heard UP likes keeping a positive look and they should. These locos look like race horses...run hard and put up wet. I want to see a clean American flag when the best rolls by. Great color scheme.

my family and i were just at Golden Spike Tower this last in weekend in North Platte nebraska and it was amazing seeing all these trains...thank you for sharing
just seeing so many diesel engines at one place at one time make me think of something hideous yet beautiful. Such a wonderfully target rich environment. No steam engine collateral damage.
Many years ago, in the bad old days, I was taken on a tour of Bailey Yards at about 2 a.m. Three of us (then ranch hands on a place north of Hershey) had gone to the big city for Saturday night. The owner of the car had been left with some woman he'd met, and the other guy decided I needed to see the yards. He drove straight across the tracks, in an AMC Javelin of all things, until we finally got hung up on one set of tracks. We sat there for I don't know how long, as cars coming down the hump ghosted by on adjacent tracks. None came down our track, or I wouldn't be writing this. I have no idea how we got off. Needless to say, alcohol was involved.
***** There is quite a bit of UP run- through action on the NS tracks here in my area, and at one point there was an abundance of SP, SSW, CNW, and DRGW power on these trains. And at 4:40, I see you caught one of the steam locomotives; I couldn't tell which one it is. Wicked Sky Thanks. UP won't be producing anymore heritage units. Since the SSW was owned by the SP since 1932, the SP unit is good enough. The existing ones will be repainted into the normal UP scheme sometime in the future.

Yes. I use a Velbon DV-7000 tripod (since discontinued). Very steady, even in high winds!
