- I recently posted a question on social media asking what inspired everyone to ride motorcycles. The comments were fantastic and included fun and interesting stories.
Mixed in with the stories was a question from @PurpleOnThree. She wanted to know my story since I hadn't jumped in yet. This is my story - I hope you enjoy it.
Don't forget to share in the comments what Inspired you to start riding.

LOL, your story reminds me of my story, except my MIL already had her license, and so did my wife when we were dating - she followed me home from the mechanic shop on my Vulcan 800 since I had a learner's and she had her license and in MD you need a licensed rider near you when you have a learner's permit... but my dad got me into it posthumously. The bike bug showed up soon after he passed away, and has never really gone away - if anything, it's become MY thing, since my dad gave it up when I was young.
I think it's so cool you took the MSF course with your mother in law....some folks may think that is funny, but I love it!
I took a long break took after my last crash. If it wasn't for the 3 wheelers, I probably wouldn't be riding ever again. I always loved bikes and the speed, so much fun :)
🤗🤗💜💜
I remember thinking with your other questions, "hmmm, I'll have to think about this and come back and answer" and then of course, I forgot to come back!!
Interesting story about your in-laws. I'm surprised the incident with their friend didn't scare them away from riding. Things happen for a reason, and you took a break, but here you are now!
You're lucky you had so many riders, and experienced ones around you when you started riding Walt. I didn't know anyone and everyone in my family was against it. Such an uphill battle
Nice ride and story 😎👍
Great story 👏
Cool story Walt. Question for you. Do you have any interest in those bigger touring models like your father in-law?
Kinda disappointed we didn't get to see the 360 footage coming through the covered bridge.
Well I know the ridge when I see it. If that's local to you we are neighbors lol
Great story! Nothing unusual about going to the MSF with your future mother in law!!! I got out of riding for about a decade myself when I first got married and had a child. Has your wife ever showed any interest in riding either with you or by herself?
Enjoyed video. New Sub.
It's ok to take a break...I took a 20 year break!
Walt! You are to young to forget like I do, lol
