    What a remarkable woman. Virtually alone in the world as a young person, she developed powerful courage on her own. Now decades later, she is as self aware, modest, and graceful as someone can be.

    I agree with her point around risk and true freedom as something that has been in many respects lost, we live in world obsessed by the need to document and share every aspect of our pretty unremarkable lives, obsessed by jobs we dislike, aspiring to perfect bodies and perfect lives. I really appreciate her story, her daring and character, it is especially remarkable in this day and age where most adventures seem so terribly dull and repetitive, digested to feature on blogs, and social media and devoid of any life, imperfection and true meaning. Bless the searchers, the crazy ones, and the true adventurers out there that resist the tide.

    Please tell Roybn Davidson, I'm a BC Canadian who just learned of your story today, it's brilliant! I had rented a juicy Van a few years back and I road from Sydney to Darwin by myself, I guess in a way I was following your footsteps without realizing it, I am privileged to learn that you're journey has taken your life in magical wonderful ways, thank you for your journey's ahead of me.
    Best regards, Cheryl Sibson

    Read Robin Davidson travelogue in Australian desert " Tracks": A 1700 miles journey in 2019 on the Kindle. And now seeing her talk about her self is enlightening. Thank you for the upload. I am from India and also a subscriber of National Geography till 2017. As she says found tracks mystical.

    Robyn's aim was to understand Aboriginal culture. She had enormous success without thinking of fame & fortune.

    I've just seen the film Tracks which basic simplicity of her trek I enjoyed. Robyn is apparently running a lucrative travel business in India. But what is she doing for the aborigines back home?

    Having read Tracks, I never was convinced Robyn was interested in "aboriginal culture." She was out to "find herself,' as many westerners are when they undertake Journeys. The aboriginals are as marginalized and misunderstood as ever. Nothing has changed because Robyn needed a Grand Adventure to Find Herself. And this is what This Trip has been to the rest of the World. We Finding Ourselves. Nothing about the Aboriginal peoples of Australia at all. I wish Davidson would acknowledge the fact and act accordingly.

    Harry: yes, it's always about US... us having experiences trying to figure out why we are so fckedup... Us doing the adventure thing. Writing about it, making a movie about it, making $$ from it. Every unique experience is turned into Dollars (doesn't matter what type as long as it's MONEY...). As for the desert, the native people, they are just Backdrop, part of the scenery. It is all phoney, shiite.

      Hansi Stein I remember stories of the aborigines. She was folk lore of the ancient type.
      Her truth is what it is.

    "...I hardly recognize that young woman. I mean, who was she?..." A pity. With her posh British accent in tow now, the young, thoughtful, idealistic person with nothing who fought not to "sell out" is now as much ensconced in Establishment as anyone she might have had distaste for then.

    I have watched a few interviews with her now and her New York boyfriend/National Geographic photographer and at no point EVER do they talk about the land she travelled over. Not about the flora, fauna or geology of the area. Not the astronomical features if the desert sky, the reputed spooky interior or geographical oddities she came across, what maps she used, how she navigated her way, things that happened to her or even how she fed herself. 100% of both their accounts are draped in new agey vague waffling about 'mythical' elements bla blah blah. Everything they talk about is frothy crap about themselves (me me me arent I amazing),their relationship, their various conversations aaaargh. FFS I dont give a toss if she gave him a hard time at beginning or whatever, I want some hard facts, details, accounts, observations of the ancient unseen unmapped and never mentioned interior but fat chance from this airhead. She is either the most self-involved narcissist ever, or she flat out lied

      Harry Percy Wow pretty harsh! Why don't you cross the desert and tell us about it then.

    • @zoe9632
      @zoe9632 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Harry Percy but why does it matter why she chose to do the trip. Ultimately, it was her trip, her experiences. She wasn't doing it for anyone else, except the sponsers.
