I like that the senator made it clear that ASL is not a "foreign language" in the United States. Only that it would meet the foreign language requirement. In my school district, they use the acronym "LOTE" which means "language other than English."
In my school district, computer programming meets the requirement for a math credit. Computer programming is not math, but it meets the requirement.
I definitely want all states to allow ASL courses to meet the foreign language requirement in the US. Hearing people learning ASL increases accessibility for Deaf people in the community. Even if they only take 1-2 years of the ASL courses.

On the second deaf news, im hearing learning ASL. I think ASL should be an elective course, cause it as the work American in it, therefore, should not be a foreign language.

I believe should be in foreign language due to funding issues according to language policies and other
      government agencies

Should NOT use “foreign languages” so should use American Sign Language (ASL) The foreign languages are that people want to take in class for German, Japanese, French. Not ASL! ASL is our primary language and of course our second language is English.
