As for the latter question, if you're asking about the train ride from Padang Besar --> Hatyai, the ride was around ~1 hour. :D
Yes sir To go Hatyai - We went to the train station - bought a ticket to go from Sungai Petani --> Padang Besar (RM 9.30/ adult) - then bought a ticket from Padang Besar --> Hatyai (RM 8) (earliest train departs at 9.55am) To return from Hatyai - We called a van to send us directly to the border (Padang Besar Train Station) (~200baht/ person) - you'll have to go through Hatyai Immigration (They'll check your bags & passport) - then you'll go through the Malaysian Immigration (They'll check again) - then bought a ticket to go from Padang Besar --> Sungai Petani (also RM 9.30/adult), (latest train departs at 9.30pm)

Helluh! It was 156 baht for 10 people! ( 1 person 15.6 baht, ~ RM 2) We called Grab! :D
