Fishing Jigs on Stumps for Pre Spawn Bass

- Fishing the jig is my favorite technique for bass fishing. In this vlog, I am going kayak fishing on a lake where the bass are in all stages of spawning. These largemouth bass are located on stumps that are on spawning flats and points leading into spawning flats. The base of the stamps are full of big roots that the laremouth bass like to spawn in and also hunt for crawfish and bluegill. I'm trying to target the biggest stumps pr the biggeest clusters of stumps to go for big bass. Big bass find a jig very appealing because of the big profile it puts out when the skirt is relaxed. The water temperatures on this lake today were in the mid sixities and it was filmed during a near full moon. I am Jackson Wakeland, a young Angler at 12 years old and you have inspired more and more each day to go for my goal, a professional angler or a charter guide. Your videos are very educational and funny and inspirational like I said earlier in this comment> I have learned so much from these videos that you post. Whats funny is that most of the time when you post like this video i am usually in the first 500 views. I am trying to upgrade my arsenal of one spinning and one bait casting set up, also tackle. My family is all about getting me whats important but fishing is expensive so that limits my tackle options. All in all I just wanted to say keep doing what your doing. PS. Tell ocean spoon girl i said hello.
Hey Jackson, you and me are pretty similar. I am only two years older than you (14), and we have the same interest and goal/dream of become a professional angler.
A few tips on upgrading you tackle:
- Try and get a neighborhood job like cutting grass or something like that. I did that this past summer, and my tackle and hunting equipment exploded.
- Buy the cheaper equipment. I use Abu Garcia Black Max combo (one piece rod) for my baitcasting setup, and it is only $60. (I have bought 5 of these in the past few years and love them. No complaints.) For my spinning set up, I use the Abu Garcia Cardinal Z combo (also a one piece rod), which is only $37. (I have two of these I bought from Walmart last year, and so far they have been great.)
- Tight lines and big bass wishes bro!

J Wakeland i went to academy and they had all there rods half price, maybe go check cause there were 5 dollar baitcasting rods, and we also bought reels a couple months ago for 15 dollars

I could watch these kinds of videos all day, I like the relaxed feeling and just one on one not to much yelling and playing around with to many people. I mean those vids are good in moderation but I prefer mostly these.
that's what kayak bass fishing is all about. the waves make for some crazy moments, but awesome getting into the timber

Definitely liking the hat cam. You can see the pace in which u reel and it helps to know what pace to fish each bait! And the struggle of manning a kayak by yourself lol.

Was just out on this lake yesterday. Wish I would have seen this first! Looks like we hit a lot of the same spots you did though. Actually had a ton of luck on a spinnerbait around the stumps and bringing it real slow. Hopefully I can get a video of it posted soon. Great vid!

Justin on this video I truly enjoy the GoPro head mount camera angles, it gives the viewer a more "I'm There Look" or "More personal View" A lot of guys like to wear the Chesty Camera but when you have a fish on the arms, reel, rod are blocking the POV and can be a turn off. I think you should use the head strap view more often. Just a thought, Love the video man keep up the awesome work. I'm always looking forward to your clips, Keep up the great work again!!

LFG- you are an awesome guy and a great fisherman! I love how much you take the time to teach your fellow fishing freaks and have learned a lot watching your channel.
It hurt watching you lose those fish in the beginning! I know you don't like braid but when you are in a kayak you should try mainline braid with a flouro leader or at least beef up your rod to power that hook home. I'm sure you know this but I just wanted to share, since you have taught me so much. I swear by braided mainlines and/or by beefing up by flouro mainline a few lbs when canoe/kayak fishing.
