Today I'm playing against 7 brutal enemies on Command and Conquer's Arctic Circle as requested by a lot of you! Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe for more Command and Conquer content!
one of the problems with the skirmish against AI is that they are so predictable. Always 4 jets, or 3 kirovs. Never a massive rush with multiple players coordinating, etc
Bryan Vahey a fun one is to play as Yuri, after a while all you are doing is moving captured units to grinders, it's awesome
There is a mod called 'artificial brutality' - try that, it makes it much harder. Also the AI will try sending much larger groups of naval forces.
The AI always maxes themselves out and never expand.
I remember Generals A.I. being better for that reason. If you let them build up, the next thing you know, every single thing in your base is either covered in toxic chemicals, has been EMP'd or there's a stack of Overlords and nuke cannons turning your shit into Fallout 5.

If I recall, manually targeting with the AEGIS actually makes it shoot faster than letting it just choose targets on it's own. An elite one has an absurd manual fire rate that will easily destroy a kirov in seconds. At least that's how I remember it from back in the day.
Yeah, I was hoping to see some of that again when I saw the elite Aegis! Just like ole times
i thnk its done by selecting the elite aegis and double click on a target, and the missiles will come in bursts

IIRC, the burst happens when the unit you were targeting was destroyed
OMG, I have no idea how many tens of hours I have spent playing this map.
Capturing all the oil derricks, shutting down all the super weapons with jets, capturing at least one mcv from soviet and yuri
building all the super weapons and unit types, and then just chill.
like getting a dozen fully promoted chronolegionnaires.
I remember having to build a LOT of IFVs or aegis to shoot down blimps
other people did this too?!!
I just use rocketeers.

Bryan, if you have a 1 Chevron or 3 Chevron Aegis Cruiser, and you actually command it to attack Kirovs (instead of simply telling it to drive near them) it will gain a massive rate of fire increase

Ordering it to enter a patrol loop is much better. Fire rate at burst mode. Plus no hassle of manually targeting each
@ 6:50 I noticed with Aegis cruisers if you order them to directly attack something they spit out missiles at like 300% their normal speed.
A much better trivia. Order it to patrol loop and the fire rate increases like crazy without the hassle of manually targetting
Now try that in Mental Omega, see how long you will last (lol)

I remember loving to play this map as yuri, building an obscene amount of psychic tower at the bridge, and sending large amounts of enemy cash donations straight to the grinder

this card is very light. you destroy bridges and capture towers. you put a shipyard in the center. you defend the sky and mock your rivals
The prisms wrecking yellows base in a matter of seconds at the end is insane.. However, watching you play against the computer is not remotely as much fun as against real people.

Seeing an army of Prism Tanks go to town on a base is truly a sight to behold.
I did beat 7 Brutal AI with Superweapons.. but only with Yuri.
This map brings so many memories. I played on slower speed and felt like A real general. Destroying both bridges and putting AA up while camping. In the end I did special operations where I sent helicopters with units lol. And used jjets as airstrikes ^^
This map was where I learned to fight better against multiple enemies. I'm still crap at RTS though, and still don't have a computer that can play mine
If you put a mind controlled civilian inside the battle fortress its game over
i think you can't put any "mind controlled" troops inside any vehicle

Why is that so?
Step 1: destroy bridges
Step 2: lotsa IFVs or flak tracks
Step 3: mass kirovs or harriers
Step 4: profit
now try 1 vs 7 brutal AI on mental omega with mental AI bost activated :3
I used prism tanks with mirages on this map. Just coming close to base and shot with prisms...but air careers do this job good enough too
Now do exact same thing, but with superweapons.

I can do it but I need a map with tons of gold and oil derricks ..and I can take them all
I remember there was map where 7 player are in one large connected area and 1 player is on an island that have an Allies MCV. I would pick Yuri and keep restarting the game until I spawn on that island then capture that MCV to have both allies and yuri. the enemies would send mostly Kirov and rocketteers at me so I spread cruiser all around the island to kill them.

Have you tried having combining a Tanya, and 4 elite antiair men inside the battlefortress?

Hey! I don't know what recording software you are using at the moment but check out "OBS Studio". It's "mainly" for streaming but also works wonders for recording gameplay (It's what I use it for).
Setting up the program the first time could be abit tedious but once you've figured out how you want your videos to look and saved the settings, it's really easy to start recording your games!
(I'm quite new here but it's very fun to see that people are still playing RA2! Also, you make great content, and it's very interesting to see how you play)

For a challenge, this but, lose 0 units or active super weapons and/or xxxmalaboo as allied also, and it is you 2 vs all brutal computer players, that should be some nice chaos... maybe xD
I liked how you tried to cap the teal mcv but couldnt because of your prisms :D
On this map you can just destroy all bridges to the middle island except your's. The AI will throw at you air and navy, but around 20 antiair tanks will hold everything. As a plus you get all oil refineries.
Why you never build walls? They protect against infantry, spies and engineers.
I used to play alot in C&C Red Alert Yuri's Revenge and really like your videos, really enjoy it watching!
If it had been 1v7 Players, I bet this would be near impossible. Or even a FFA on this map. That sea section is prime for Dreadnoughts and Carriers to abuse.
Easiest way to win is create three tanks and destroy bridges three tanks fit side by side on a bridge control 'click' and attack (firce attack) the bridges once they are destroyed select the three tanks and control click on the water between the broken bridge that way even if the bridge is repaired it gets destroyed immediately now no matter how strong the enemy is you get ample time to build your base and army.
I would always blow up both bridges, put out rocketeers and guardian gis and and snipers. All enemy's against me were US with one Yuri and one Soviet. Not uncommon to have a 15k+ kill count at the end

Hey... use the aegis cruiser by actually clicking on the enemy units. It is exponentially stronger. At max rank it will melt like 50 Kirov's in seconds.
Why does AI leave you with oil derricks? As I remembered it usually just bombs them with airplanes or paratroopers and the biggest trouble was to keep derricks alive. With untouched derricks you just have ridiculous amount of money and it is so easy to win against 7 brutals
Very nice, brings back memories. So I tried to install RA2 on my comp but I guess windows 10 doesn't load the install (or it does but when you click install, nothing happens). Would love some advice on how to get this game installed on Windows 10 for those of you who are aware of this problem so I can join in on the nostalgia.
there are lots of tutorial to get RA2 (and yuri revenge) to run in windows 10, just search m8
i was having similiar problems, and now, thanks to the tutorials, i am able to lanch the game only to realize second later that it crashes right after i hit anything in main menu

i play ra2 normally on win10 pro 64bit without any problem/lag, even when i'm playing multiplayer. and i figure it out from tutorial on c&cnet forum if im not mistaken
Alief Adnan thanks, found a good source on the c&cnet. For anyone else looking, search on forum "Help Installing Red Alert 2" > click on "fir3w0rx" link which will take you to a new forum > Plokite_Wolf has a 10 part guide which I used and is working for me. I couldn't find my Yuri disk so I just did steps 1, install, 4 and 5 and that's all it took for the game to run. Hope that helps for anyone else.
I appreciate your RA2 vids, thanks for your help in keeping the community alive. I have some questions about this match:
Were they all teamed together, 1A vs. 7B? (I assume yes)
Was it set to 60 FPS in skirmish or 45 FPS in a CnCnet lobby game?
Was it set to 4 Russia/3 America AI or others mixed in?
I'm trying this from the same spot on the map, as Korea, at 60 FPS in skirmish, against Russia and America all teamed together, with Brutal AI checked. I'm following the same build order and setup and I'm surprised to see them destroying all my oil derricks (maybe because the bridge was destroyed) and so many Tanya/engineer choppers flying in.
Did you know Ctrl + left clicking on attack when Aegis Cruiser is selected makes it fire faster and more rockets?
I don’t think you need to hold control down to accomplish. Simply selecting the unit to attack rather than letting it auto select makes it shoot faster
I think all of us have tried fooling the AI in this map abusing they're dumb af when it comes to bridges. They simply stop attacking you and send you air stuff which you can defend easily.

There are many ways to make fun of the AI, there are some maps with buildings you can garrison near the enemy base destroying everything they build.
In the map "Little piece of dune" you can beat any brutal enemy in a minute or less. Fun stuff.

So, idk which iteration of this game you're playing, but C&C The First Decade showed up today & I've got everything installed, now I just hafta run compatibility tests cuz I've gotten errors for both RA2 & Generals & their respective expansion packs..
If you choose a target for the Aegis cruiser it will shoot much faster.
This is most notable when it has the elite rank

if you use an attack command on the anti air boat it shoots way faster
I really wish you gave running commentary. You put in a little commentary in post (possibly responding to twitch comments?) but explaining your thinking/situation as you go would be orders of magnitude more interesting and engaging.
Fair enough. If you would like a good example of strategy game type commentary I highly recommend checking out Stealth17's channel. I have enjoyed his content for quite some time now.
why no arctic circle map on Mental Omega?
if your aegis is elite you can just click on a nearby target and it goes crazy sht mode killing a kirow in like one second
try it again in mental omega ;) that shit is harder and a lot less predictable.
Every time I see a lot of enemy Prism tanks locked together, I would send in a chrono legion and they would destroy themselves with friendly fire.

didnt you know? if you select an Aegis cruiser and set it to attack a Kirov it will take it down MUCH faster than if you let it attack it automatically.... !!
i noticed you don'ttarget fire with the anti-airship from alied ...
when you let autoatack it has 1 speed and when you target fire it will go beserk
why not some mirage tank?? they are pretty useful vs tanks and also troops, also AI have a hard time to realize which is mirage tank and a bit of hint, spy helped for veterancy so it will be much easier to get elite (too bad navy ship won't be affected)
Epic game. I mean, I kinda laughed at the moment when the chrn legionnaires got ur mcv. The def was too shabby and weak. They did got the chance to get ur mcv at late game. The resource production is weak. Establishing good resource production at early game is a vital keypoint. Train more miners the moment you got ur wfactory. Then ore purifier when u got ur bttle lab. Mirage tanks and battle fortress mounted with guardian GI's and seals makes a rock solid def. Plus with scattered GI's from airdrops makes it more tougher. And a trivia, did you know that when you make an aegis enter a patrol loop makes the fire rate at burst mode?? Even an unpromoted Aegis roaming around back and forth can stop a full kirov assault single handedly. Makes a good air lock def aerial def. Espcially when surrounded with water. And using prism tanks on offense is definitely a must.
Any advice on buying this game again? I miss re alert 2 and yuris. I want to get back on it if possible thanks

You ever try Sins of a Solar Empire? It's one of the few games where I actually think Comp-Stomps are fun, because the AI has some pretty good awareness and responses. They, of course, get cheater resources like every other RTS AI, but they use it a lot more intelligently, and have a sense of self-preservation (IE, if they're in a hopeless battle they'll attempt to save their valueble units by fleeing, as a matter of fact, in one patch they were TOO good at this, so it got nerfed because it wasn't fun having the AI flee any time you came at them with a strong force.)
It'll even reach the point where if they can't crack through your defenses, they'll just start spamming superweapons.
Additionally, they (The developers) Did a really good job of at least "Faking" the AI's need to scout, so there's some reason to counter-scout. They won't be able to Superweapon any worlds that haven't been scouted, and they'll often send in a Probe to a world they want to attack before committing a large fleet.
Even though it's a fairly old game, the developers still support it, with a recent 1.9 patch and even a DLC a few months ago. Not sure what the online is like anymore, but it did have serious connection issues, and the games can drag on for a very long time. (There's even a save-state for multiplayer games, just to give you an idea)
the elite Aegis has a much higher rate of fire if you manually order it to attack
How the heck do you order your troops to attack a bridge? Or was that and enemy unit there?
in the older games you could force a attack by holding control or shift then click the area you want to attack, thats how you removes trees as well IF I remember correctly

Dude, love watching your videos. RA2 is my favorite game in the entire C&C series. I downloaded the game on Origin but apparently my computer is too advanced to let me play it. I hear the game start up and then I get a black screen with audio but I can’t play the game. Something going on with the compatibility options. I have tried EVERYTHING. every configuration. What CPU do you play it with and what have you used as your settings in the compatibility tab? I really want to play and I can’t. Ugh!

mistakes are something i can understand in a 1v7 but whats with some of the time skips? WOULDA been interesting to see even if you just fast forword the time / speed it up

My uncle wins a game against 8 brutal and he is in the middle of the map , and the map doesn’t contain islands or bridges. oh and there are a super weapons. I can’t see anyone is better than him 😎

Hey, most of your recent videos are a but squished. Seems like you have 16:10 screen now :) It would be better to upload it in original aspect ratio. Watching on 16:9 screen with small black borders is bit better than watching entire video squished ;) As for the recording software, use OBS :) It takes a few minutes to figure out, but it records really fast and high quality.

u could just try to get you mcv back from a box or take it from a comp!

Man, maybe some things have been updated in the past couple years, but everytime I play a couple of brutals they send tons of units at me in waves within the first minute and a half. I do wish they kept that level of intensity throughout the entire game without a mod though
Wasn't as hectic as i expected, i thought enemy units would just pile up and clog your bridge access and like kirovs and naval units all round..
Its why i moved on to Mental Omega cuz it can get much crazier, like it would seem like the AI has more through-put of units and more money than you have
Oh wow I totally just saw this after commenting on your last video. This is my absolutely favorite map. It's so hard to beat with superweapons on, but I can do it without them on. I destroy all of the bridges as fast as I can, I have learned that if you hit the bridges in the correct spot you only need 1 or 2 tanks to do it quickly. That cuts their land defenses off, plus eventually their ore. I then protect my derricks with a few infantry because that's really fucking annoying to have paratroopers destroy your derricks. The robotic tanks always get me but those are only on the YR edition. Fuck those robots.
you dont need so many prism tanks to defend..... 4-5 mirage tanks are more than enough just send them across the bridge and make sure they are in a tight group..... nothing gets past them
