    As the weather is dreadful here, and I've been quite sick over the last few weeks, I haven't really made or had plans to make any videos over January, but yesterday was decent enough (well, not lashing rain anyways) that I decided to go out and film a cheeky video talking about my Top 5 motorcycle trips I made last year. And also talking about some speculative plans for this year's adventures on two wheels!

    Hi Brendan and anyone else who picks up this comment. I started watching your channel a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed it. I wanted to ask your thoughts. I've been riding bikes for over 37 years and had every genre of motorcycle. However I think I've finally realised what biking is for me. The occasional leisurely ride without worry about technical clothing is equipment. So I currently have an RE Himalayan but am thinking of a bullet. I would love to hear what you love about daisy and what others enjoy about their bullets.

      The bullets/classics are a very unique riding experience. I have an 1800cc and it doesn't compare to the joy I get out of riding my bullet 500.

      Thanks Ryan, glad you're enjoying the videos! 😁 I'm nowhere near as seasoned a rider as most of the people that watch my channel, so I think John said it very well above! There's something special about the riding experience; before going out to film this video my dad was asking me if I wanted to take the new Honda out for the spin, as its more suited to the wet weather with its windscreen and hand guards, but for me, it had to be Daisy, no question about it! 😆 You won't get anywhere too fast (but not quite as slow as some people might think!), however you'll have the time of your life on the way. To me the Bullet screams adventure in an old world sort of way, and if the occasional leisurely ride is what you're looking for, you will certainly have a great time with a Bullet or Classic 500! Haven't had a chance to ride one yet, but my friend Naim occasionally test rides the new Classic 350s and says they're quite fun too, so if there's no Classic or Bullet 500s in your area, i'm sure the 350 is a worthy substitute! (Plus it would have a bit less maintenance than the 500 being a newer engine!) I've pinned your comment so more people can share their thoughts with you 😄

      I ride a Himalayan and it's a great little bike. It's so versatile and I have a lot of fun on it. I've ridden many bikes over the years and almost all have given me pleasure in one way or another. But I also have a Classic 500, and nothing comes close to its character. Puts a grin on my chin every time. It's a bike with soul and personality, and as close as you can get to a friend in the form of a machine. It's a bike that takes me back to my childhood. A time when things were simpler. It rekindled a flame that, until riding it, I hadn't realised had gone out. But having said all that, I think it's something that can't be put into words. It's a feeling you get. Aww I love it :)

      Agreed with the comments below, that the bullet (or classic 500) is quite a unique bike. The engine being what it is makes it very special (in a good way) compared to ALL the modern bikes you'll find on the market. With the bullet you're coming close to what old bikes were, except that it's much more reliable to old bullets or old english brands such as BSA etc, being E-fuel injected. As @bulletwanderer mentioned, I went on two test rides with the new classic 350 and have been very, very impressed! Don't let the "350cc" fool you, the power delivery is similar if not better when cruising around 100KMPH. Royal Enfield have done great with the new 350cc engine platform. I can tell they're trying to keep the character of the single cylinder alive, and doing so with the EURO regulations. The best thing for you to do you'd be to go and test drive both, if possible. :)

      There's nothing out there quite like the Bullet/Classic 500. They vibrate like hell when new but once the engine breaks in they're quite civilised for a 500 single with no counterbalancing shaft. It can take quite a while, mine didn't really free up until from about 2500ks onwards. I've changed the front sprocket to one with an extra tooth and it will do 110kmh comfortably enough solo and that's the top legal speed down here in Australia.
      Every time I ride mine it reminds me of the first time I rode a bike, it's basic and a bit rough but it's as real as it gets. A lot of modern bikes are so good they can feel a bit detached as a riding experience and these bikes are the perfect antidote.

    Great to see the recap’s from last year, and good to hear some of your plans for this year. I had the best day riding ever in Snowdonia. It isn’t far from Cornwall. Pop down and I’ll buy you a pasty 😀👍🏼

    Scotland will be great, can't wait.
    p.s. You can't go to second gear because the gears are constant mesh and the speed difference was too big. If you rev it can go or slow the speed and will go too. Some old bikes had neutral between last two gears for dawn hill coasting.

    11:47 why do you have a road sign that depicts a sasquatch with a shovel? I have been thinking of planning a motorbike tour following the coast of Ireland, with a stop off in Kerry to see family. Thanks for posting.

    • @BulletWanderer
      @BulletWanderer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bigfoot crossing, of course! 😂 It's supposed to be a sign for construction work going on, but I'd imagine someone forgot to put it away Friday afternoon, there didn't seem to be any happening yesterday 😅 Some of the best parts of Ireland are the coasts, i'm sure you'll have a great time 😁
