- Joe Freshgoods has linked up with New Balance again, reintroducing the New Balance 1000 to the world. This 1999 running shoe was brought back as part of the "When Things Were Pure" collection consisting of two colourways. The one I'm reviewing today is the "Black Ice" pair, which features an iridescent shiny upper, black mesh and a gum outsole. Did any of you also pick up a pair of these?

Okay this is a sneaker that looks better on feet than by themselves, I'm interested to see where NB takes this silhouette during the year!
I think new balance is lying. I was around in 1998 and do not remember this disgusting little silhouette. Trust me, I’d remember it. This is a Psyop that is not going to end well. Ugly shoe! Thank you!

It reminds me of the movie “a Christmas story” when ralphies brother wouldn’t eat his food and the father says something like “I’ll open his mouth and I’ll shove it in”. That’s what new balance is doing with this 1000 silhouette. They are opening our mouth and shoving it in!

I went for both but only won the black ice pair. Initially I was bummed I didn’t get the pink but at least this is a more unique colorway that I don’t have. Hopefully I’ll get the pink one someday. In the mean time I got my pink jfg 993 😜

Personally I was only interested in the pink pair and got lucky with the JFG raffle (the dark pair looks too much like Air Max's - I get some people like them for that). I got wide feet and went with the same size as 2002r, and fit me well, but I agree, this silhouette is pretty long. Overall, I'm satisfied with the look and comfort.

I was expecting them to be narrow on first look so thanks for confirming they’re not narrow, they run a bit long and are comfy! 😊
I picked these up, depending on how the light hit them they look slightly different colors. Very different, i think i will keep them.
Aime leon dore ones look a lot better. My least favorite collaboration from Joe x NB
theses are nice but went with the silver metallic ones better.

Love your content, but I have question about sizing: is your true size measured on a Brannock device? Because I'm a true size 11, and if I pick an NB classic or a running shoe at 10.5, I can't even get my foot in the shoe. I'm 11.5 with a snug fit and 12 on a bit of room fit, which I like more. So basically I'm going two sizes up on my Brannock device to have a comfortable fit on NB shoes.
Maybe the sizing changes on larger models, or you like your shoes super duper tight.

and the general consensus is NB fits big for made in usa models, and true to size or a half size up for UK and asia models
@@SeanGo That is super weird. I'm a true size 11 on Brannock, no chance of me wearing size 11. I wear 11.5 on classics and 12 on running shoes like More V4, which give me that finger width of room in the front that you need when running.
