This one took several hundred casts over 17 in game days to finally catch. I caught over a hundred trophy Volga Zanders and dozens of unique Zanders before catching this guy right off the dock at 35.00, 88.24. I will say, the Rattlesnake Worm 4" on a #4/0 Barbless Jighead 7/8 oz was the best performing lure and I caught 90% of the trophies and uniques as well as the unique Volga Zander. Cloudy days from 7-8pm had the highest bite rates as well on this setup and is when I caught the Unique Volga.
I haven't got the Uni Volga yet (planning on knocking out the 30 day stay challenge while I focus on this since it seems almost mandatory), but after 5 days I'd say I'm having the same experience as you (although I'm alternating between the rattlesnake and new club worm). Lots of Trophy Volga, and an insane amount of Uni Zander. My biggest challenge is the number of Pike I'm getting though. Thanks for your feedback and tips!
@brien9 I was alternating between stop and go and twitch right off the bottom. I found that retrieving as slow as possible and as close to the bottom as possible while not touching the bottom worked to avoid pike. You may want to experiment with slow retrieval reels. I was using my JigWinner 8'10" rod with a FatBoySpin 4000 reel and 12lb fluorocarbon line. The FatBoySpin has a low gear ratio and slow retrieval speed that was just perfect for the 7/8oz jighead. I hope this helps.
@@Bovineslap Got mine on day 12. This method with the rattlesnake worm works. Lots of Uni Zanders and Trophy Volgas before I finally got it, but it does work.
Thanks a lot. Your video helped me believe it was possible so I kept pushing and after several hours I finally caught a unique at 2.637 kg. Cloudy day at 6:30 pm with the red narrow spoon, 21 gram, #3/0. Mark: [-846.52, 7.64].
@@SoopaDaveGaming thank you. Still unable to catch this fish. Already tried for 15 days. This is the only fish never get caught yet to complete all the species.
I can't catch the 6.7lbs zander with craws jigbait. Can anyone help? At Ahktuba. It's been weeks and weeks I keep coming back to try. It's one of three last challenges before I can platinum and it's killing me 😢
Finally caught a 5.5lber with the 4" glow worm after 5 days. That wraps up Akhtuba River all species. Thanks Dave.
This is a tough fish nice job!
This is the ultimate "your mileage may vary" situation. Congratulations on catching the white whale Captain Soopa.
Took around 11 "full game days", but eventually caught them with a 10cm worm (glow).
Thanks Dave !
This is a tough one!
Such an elusive fish thanks for tips and video gonna try to get mine next time I'm there. Well done Dave 👍👍👍👍👍

Also, what retrieve method did you have the most luck with? Stop and Go near the bottom?

@@J3batDerhaka this is the toughest fish in the game in my opinion I've only caught 6 uniques of them ever (that is by far my lowest in the game)
