Ian you pervert, you're back, thank God.! You helped me through some tough times, I even went to Bristol to meet you but you never showed up, but how were you to know???? It was wet, I had to walk about two miles to the Wave Pool along very dodgy country roads, I even took a surf board to the face, claret every where. Lost my jib, but not really but got another one, praise the Lord and you Ian Sampson. I will always be your Delilah, your trebuchet, your halberd, your working week, your Sunday rest.
Good to see an update Ian. I've watched all of your videos. Can't believe the first ones were so long ago. They were really good. You are probably the reason for me really wanting an ev. Well I'm just waiting for my lease car to arrive so I got there in the end. You and your family keep safe and I look forward to future updates.
Hi Ian, nice to see you again. Years ago we had a Sherpa van which had a similair problem with the sliding door except that bit snapped in two. It was fine when it was closed but when you opened it it slid to the end and fell off. I think we just bought a new slidey bit when we stopped laughing.
Good to hear from you, it’s been a while. I see there’s a lot of new electric vans coming out soon form after manufactures now. Things are moving up... Hope you are all well and safe
Great to see the update Ian. I remembered the trials and tribulations when you bought the vehicle including the rear door mix up! Lol we have 4 children and did seriously look at the Nissan E-NV200 but the range was just too restrictive to be practical. Glad the nissan worked out for your family👍.
I didn't realise up until recently that all it needs to be on free vend is the no WiFi connection light. Good to know when I finally am allowed out! Been waiting for the updates so good to know you're safe and well. Hope the family is okay too!
I can highly recommend IKEA delivery, it’s well worth the cost. We had a load of furniture delivered for our daughter’s bedroom and I knew it wasn’t going to fit in the Zoe so I opted for delivery. The delivery drivers were very friendly and take all the boxes to the room you want, even upstairs. When you factor in the time to drive there and back, browsing the store, the hassle of locating all the packages for the stuff you want then loading/unloading each end it soon makes sense.
Ian Sampson I went for the 40kwh, the range is more than enough for my requirements (avg. 90 miles per day). It’s properly enough for most tradesman and I’ve even taken it to West France. Exceeds my expectations so thanks again. 👍
It has been a while since we've seen you thank you very much for the video. Who would have thought so many miles on a vehicle that does not really go that far on each charge.
Yeah the number of short but many journeys certainly starts to stack up! In a van style have to just drive with the right foot almost is just so relaxing!
Thanks, Ian. Glad to see that the bus is holding up to the burden of a family very well. That door issue shouldn't be too difficult to fix. Hard to tell, but it looks as though the rivets are stretching. Some assistance with a hefty persuader might be all that's needed. Have you spoken to your local friendly garage about it?
Hi, Glad to hear all is going well. What mileage do you achieve between charge-ups? I planned a 227m journey from Epsom to Wigan and the evnavigation was predicting 7 charging stops starting with a full battery (charging to 80% each time which seems a lot with about 33m between charge-ups... thoughts and experience, please.
Hi, yeah on MOTORWAY (as in high speeds) we looks to stop every 50 miles approx (you can run it to 65 miles but then you are almost at 0% and thats scary...especially if the charger on arrival is dead!)
Good to hear from you again! Love that car but it's range was just to small when I was looking to buy. I wonder if they've put in a larger battery by now.
@@IanSampsonRLO It's very comfortable and has a nice ride. Much better for me with being so short. Don't need the two cushions that I needed in the two Zoe. Haven't been far in it yet, but am raring to go.
That door problem is is really a minor problem . I’ve actually never seen / had any issues with mine . 45k so far But I am reckoning 3 things 1, baring collapsed in the slide roller ? 2, runner damaged due to over slammed open .. 3, the clasp looks slightly missed aligned Good luck . 18°C hot, I laughed. I'm all rugged up and shivering I looked at the thermometer it's18°C.😎 Good to see you are all well and the van is going well. Is the Zoe still going good? We may get a new battery in our Mk1 Leaf under warranty this year. The reduced range isn't an issue it still does 90% of our needs.
Zoe is going really well yeah. Cants see there being any major with either vehicle to be honest! MK1 leaf with battery warranty? How longs the warranty on those then?
@@IanSampsonRLO My wife in charge of the Leaf, so broadly speaking the cars were imported in 2011-2 & didn't sell. We bought one, heavily discounted, as a runout model in late 2015? we have a 5-year warranty. I believe the several years in storage didn't help with the battery life. It's on the cusp[of qualifying. Otherwise no issues.
Ian Sampson the 24kwh premium van, fantastic car, still 80% SOH, my Model 3 have 44000km since 04.03.19, my wife have 29000km on hers, 2013 leaf had 168000km when we sold it last year, 76 % SOH
@@IanSampsonRLO the young man there that also produces their videos mentioned a very interesting point. He prefers upgrading the 24kw env200 over the 40kwh as it heats up much less when driving and charging then the 40kwh version. Stated he finds the cooling works better. To the point that when using his battery pack and CCS conversion/charge controller the extended pack can be DC rapid charger much faster than 50wkh!
Unfortunately the discount is no longer available, it seems to have stopped at the end of last year. The IKEA near me in Nottingham often has the bays ICE’D - probably because it’s located in a retail park with other shops and the charging bays are essentially at the front door of IKEA.
Ian thought about increasing the range there are some other uploaders who have put the 40kw pack in by swapping the cells over have a look as some of them have setup businesses and can do it for you
Yeah, they will be 2 a penny in 4-5 years time. We bought it completely with that in mind - to upgrade it ~10 years from purchase and then carry on for another 10 years. As long as the body holds out. So far no signs of any rust or anything.
See that's the thing about EV charging. Folks leave their EV on charge, walk away and forget about it. That, and the time it takes to charge, must surely add to n the frustration of EV charging.

Good to see you back. From a non EV driver I still found this inspiring
Thanks for following along! Soon everyone will be driving EV's by default lol.

You can choose to lock in the 3.3kw cable when charging at the car end. On the rapid it locks auto.
