      Have you tried working with a dry shampoo to help the second day hair?

      I have a cowlick on the left side of the back of the crown. I have to use either a root lifter or some kind of product every day, if I don't it takes over and the back has bald spots. Did I mention I have very fine thin hair? And I would like to wear a pixie now. What to do?

    I have short hair, but I have a very pronounced cowlike on the right side in back of my head, it really is a pain when I try to style my hair, how do I get rid of it.

      Thanks Terri... some feel that it's a sales pitch but knowing proper usage of product is so essential to what we do. I'm glad you see value in it :-)

    Can you show how to actually do it - an actual before and after?

    • @samvillahair

      Hi Michelle, sometimes we are a little restricted with our video content to always have a live model but we understand it's better for the viewer if they can see an actual finished product.

      Brush it back and forth against the cowlick's direction while you are blow drying it, have some kind of holding product (mousse, gel, paste, wax- whatever you prefer) to hold it better. For really stubborn ones, tease the roots a bit at the base of the cowlick, then smooth your hair over it. I have 4 that I deal with, with fine straight hair and a pixie cut, and this works at covering up the biggest one pretty well 🙂 Accept that they add character!

    You need to demonstrate on on hair with the problem. Demonstrate from beginning to blow dry end

    • @jessicah3450
      @jessicah3450 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Conceal it, it's how the hair grows from the follicle, so you can't get rid of them. You were born with them.

    What can you do about lack of volume in thin fine hair if the client is allergic to most or all products?

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That can be difficult when the client can't use many of the products we recommend. It might be worth looking at some of the dry shampoo powders out there as a finishing product. If there is one she can use, it can be very beneficial for fine hair.

    • @FannysLoA

      The problem is the chemicals. With Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, basically only (organic) food seems safe.

    • @chasey1978
      @chasey1978 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally would suggest they use a volumizing shampoo with a brand they already use. In addition less conditioner or none at all depending on the hair texture. They can also blow dry up then out to create lift temporarily. I mean no style is going to stay past a few hours without hairspray so she will just have to realise this until she can find something she isn't allergic to. This is just me suggesting from someone who also has sensitive skin and scalp. I have psoriasis that acts up sometimes with certain products and I get itchy. Its tolerable though and not life threatening.

    What about folks that have wavy or curly hair with a nasty cowlick that don’t blow out their hair?

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great question... that would be a tougher client because the heat and tension is what really helps to break up the growth pattern. While setting the curls in place to air dry, we'd just suggest trying as best as possible to move the hair direction in the opposite way of the growth pattern as it dries.

    Do you put on the redken satinwear 04 while the hair is wet? Same with the guts 10 - does this get applied on wet hair? And does this go all over the hair or just the one area? Thanks!

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great questions Jill. Yes, both were applied to damp hair before blow drying... the Satinwear is focused on midshaft and ends while the Guts is focused mainly at the scalp or base of the hair.

    Hairdressers spend more time pushing products. Teasing the roots a bit tames my really crazy cowlick. I then smooth some hair over it.

    • @samvillahair

      Hi Maria, just simply explain that it helps you to see how their hair naturally falls. Since part of hair cutting is a visual process, that part of the cut should be done as close to how they wear it as possible.
