I love the way you just go for it and get such beautiful results! 🥰. Can we please take a moment to compliment you on how cute you looked in your intro and outro today!? Loved today’s “do”. Pretty lady!
So I decided to watch you perform magic on this chair once again, months later. Boy-o-boy, I missed seeing so much. I realize that viewing any of your transformations just once is not enough. Actually, viewing them several times is required to digest how you work... The endless detail work is truly the icing on the cake. Watching you swiftly add them is hypnotic.. It makes this piece and most all your others one of a kind. Few furniture artists, if any, go to that length. So, I continue to learn and marvel at what you do and how you do it, hoping that I will eventually absorb and be able to create half as well as you do. Your much adoring fan and friend, Sydni
Hey sydni I'm glad you re watch the tutorials and your right, the brain needs to see it a few times to see everything. I have always been about the small details they matter to me. There are many furniture painters, but I really am all about the art and the creativity.... I just look at each new piece as a canvas. You will be storing all the info away in your brain ready to exicute when needed. Are you busy I am also so grateful that you watch as I know you are always time poor..... I'm grateful x x
Another great Sunday.... Its -42 and with the wind feels like -50 and colder... A Saskatchewan winter.... The tape idea is great ... Cant wait till next Sunday.... Take care.....
You are amazing. I don’t even HAVE a “script brush”, you wield yours like it’s part of your hand and obtain the most precise results. Looks like a lifetime of practice to me. I love how you teach the basics and say , “you don’t need the fancy stuff like Posca pens, stamps, stencils, etc. Just use what you’ve got and go for it!” I’m trying to branch out more with embellishments like yours. It makes a big difference. As always, than you for taking the time to teach us. ❤❤❤
What a very kind comment..... Yes branch out with the little parts of your design. Don't go in to deep to start with then jyst have fun.... See how it feels and then your confidence will soar x x
This is my favorite video ever and I have watched every video you have posted multiple times. I will say it again: you are the best furniture painter on TH-cam and Martyn is the best cameraman
WOW Martyn, what perfect music to exit on! Of course, I adore what you did with this lovely chair. How well worn and beloved it looks. Your use of pattern just bowled me over!!! I admired how you created a clay border without using a mold. Even though you are a super quick painter, how much time did it take you to complete this chair? If you were to use this much detailing on a larger piece of furniture would you be able to recoup the cost of the time you invest??? I have to assume that the right customer would be willing and able to purchase one of your super-detailed pieces. I know I would if I could ~sigh... It was such a delight to watch you design this chair this morning. Put me in the best mood. Lel, you are a terrific instructor, we learn so much watching you work. Have a productive week. Much love to you both, Sydni
Ah don't you worry sydni I make more than enough on my work and charge quite a lot for my time. I'm very quick in real life just it's very slow on video as each frame needs to be thought out well. Super detailed pieces are mostly about repetition and the muscle memory kicks in. Hope your well and not to tired Lel x
Amazing! So many new techniques. I’m so happy to see the old chair given a new fabulous life with a gorgeous distressed Indian look, complete with sun bleaching!
Stop stop stop pause You are sooo clever creative! Rolling out clay like a pie crust-- using play dough tools and straws-- love it that's genius❣️ whatever ate you going to do next? OK go go go -play
Ha ha ha..... The straw was my most fun part I'm not going to lie. I just wanted to show that you don't need expensive moulds to put clay on furniture x x
I think jenny will want that chair back when she sees it. Beautiful gorgeous job. Excellent instruction, and some time soon i will spread my wings and fly with that liner brush in my hand. You will make a free hand painter out of me! I am sending you a picture of my 3 das clay owls because when i showed them to my husband he keeled over in laughter!!!
I have actually still to break through and believe that I can do handpainting. I have the liner brush. I have the posca pens. You have given me the inspiration and technique. I have no excuses now❤😂😂😂. Brilliant tutorial.
You will get there it takes such a time to finally dig in and have a go and it's okay to wait till your ready to get into hand painting. Plenty of other products mean there's no need x x
We cut our lasagna dough with those little tools, to make a curly edge. I love that folk art chair! I do have one that is 'similar' in shape and may do this 'SOME DAY' to it. It's a perfect application for this little shape, isn't it? You say it doesn't take a great amount of skill and you ARE VERY MODEST. I would say you have MAD SKILLS!!! Love it. ❤Thank you Lel and Marty.
Fantastic. I watched half this morning before work and finished it off tonight. It's raining so heavy I had the phone up to my ear to hear you. Another silver!! I really must dust mine off and put it on the next project cos it looks amazing 🧡🧡🧡

@MadebyMarley please tell Martin he absolutely should do another piece. He did a fantabulous job and I'd love to see him do another. Look forward to your next piece 💜
Just when I thought you couldn’t outdo yourself you went and did it again. I absolutely love this chair and I am going to try to learn how to do some freehand paining - this from someone who can’t draw a stick figure but hey, it’s worth a try. I love the Indian style. I’m currently painting some dish towels for a family that the dad is from India. I’ve used stencils and am quite happy with the look but boy I’d love to add some of your “doodles.” That will have to wait for next time. Not brave enough.
This is just fabulous Lel❤❤❤ I’m amazed at how you can just start with a simple theme and create all of these additional details just seemingly from thin air! I would love to try this type creativity on one of the many random chairs I have! Maybe🤔😄
Start by practising a simple design on paper, one it's what you want just transfer it. Doing it this way gives you a chance to get a design just right. On my own I paint it on but in front of a camera I'm way to nervous ha ha ha
Peek-a-boo blue with Fuzzy Pink is brilliant. Simple shapes that transform a bespoking project on another level. Always inspiring. Have a lovely week. 😊
This is adorable! Years ago I painted an old chair and turned the seat into a planter with a bunch of flowers, My artwork was pathetic (can I say verrrry primitive?). I wish I'd had your guidance and inspiration. Must be time for me to paint another chair.
Awwwwesome chair, and I think the mystery shape is a Flame?? xx I am eyeing up a dodgy old wooden chair my darling brought home after he found it on the street x
I love watching ur videos & appreciate just how incredibly creative u are 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I love this piece, but I was also wondering how u think it would look if u put little black dots into the circle shapes that u made initially with the straw into ur clay that ended up being covered with silver leaf, that might add contrast & tone down the silver leaf a bit…what do u think 💭?

You are really a great teacher, you explain so clearly and you keep things very simple and basic.
