Mesmerised by the grandeur of this moment, the deep, respectful love and beauty of this family, the perfectly formed little baby girl so at peace and rest in the protective arms of her doting mother, father and grandmama, the solemn and thoughtful face of the father, the childlike attention and attentiveness of the siblings, my mind wanders back to another grandeur, one even surpassing this beautiful cathedral...I think of Jesus, the glorious Christ, coming as a humble little child, clutched like this in the nurturing arms of his mother and adoptive father, loved just as much though not as 'earthily' privileged....and growing up to become sin for us all, sacrificing Himself on a cross as was the plan, and rising again having descended into hell ..."the first and the last, and the living one...dead....(now) living to the ages of ages (with) the keys of death and of hades" (Rev 1: 18, parentheses mine) and ascending triumphantly to the Father, parting a way in every heart that would humbly believe and seek forgiveness of their sins to have the same oneness/communion with the loving, Heavenly Father...all this flashed before me in this timely ceremony...the palpable love of this family, their humility as bowed with their newborn before their Creator, a humility so expressive before the altar, perhaps depicting their need for His assistance, His favour...this was, oh, too beautiful....too beautiful...a glimpse into what's still powerful in the world....
