Love Picallili. Glad she's in a big creche and socializing. Going to miss her but I'm glad she's going to her destiny. Great job getting her strong and healthy.
After Tuesday Picca will be in creche and that's the end of her story. I don't get updated unless there is a problem. I hope there is no problem, so this is it. I still have some footage of her which hasn't gone up, but there will be no further updates after the footage is put up.
@@Megabattie I read all of the other similar comments and replies, and you're right. This is how I feel letting a little bird go, however much I love that little bird. I just didn't think of it from "the outside" over here, where I'm not the one who went through the care process. Cheers, and congratulations on successful saving, raising and re-batty-ing these two adorable little bats... especially Piccalilli, who would not have made it to her first day without 90 minutes of help to breathe!
Piccalilli wasn't the one who was born prematurely. That was Lydia. Lydia went to another carer and was raised and has gone to creche in the Shoalhaven. Piccalilli's mum was probably electrocuted on power lines and was found in the gutter. The MOP didn't bring in mum's body so I couldn't tell if she'd been hit by a car or electrocuted.
Piccalilli is such an interesting bat, she has beauty and personality. Glad that she's on her way to having a good healthy wild life. As busy as you all are I have to thank you for your time to update us, thank you, thank you, thank you!
It's not hard at all for me. I can let them go without missing them. It's what's supposed to happen and it means I've been successful. It feels great to move them to the next stage
They grow up so fast! Gonna miss seeing that adorable little chatterbox on your channel. :) Stay safe out in the big wide world Picca, and plant lots of trees and have lots of babies!
Miss Lilli looks more unsure of herself. Bless her with her dummy. I am sure you will miss her. Kyla, of course, was in the thick of it. Good luck learning to be a colony and moving closer to release 🦇😍🦇😍
Kyla was with me for 36 hours - I didn't attach to her at all. She was a baby in need of care, that's all. I have no problem letting the babies go and move along to their next stage.
Enthralling to see them interacting and chittering! Little Piccalillie still looks so tiny and vulnerable with the dummy in her mouth! I love watching them move around in the aviary, and sometimes seeing thumb fights! It’s all adorable-except the cleaning up part...
I'm going to miss little Piccalilli, I have fallen head over heels in love with her. I'm very glad she's growing up well and I thank you for all you do. Oh and I wanted you to know that my next pet will be named Piccalilli in honor of you both 😍
Looking forward to hearing how well both Piccalilli and Kyla progress in this new phase .. Hadn't realized how big Piccalilli had gotten until I saw her fully stretched out hanging in her new enclosure, she has really grown so much 💖💖💖💖
Piccalilli is going to big kids creche on Tuesday. I don't see her again and I won't really hear about her unless there is a problem. I would prefer there is no problem, so that will be the end of her story. Kyla is a wild baby and will go to creche probably this week. I won't hear about her further either
"Sniff her? I don't want to sniff her, woman! I'm going to carry her up on top of the teddy bear and EAT HER! Mwah hah hah hah! Mwah hah h- oh, so you're Kyla? Peeps, this is Kyla! She smells like a grape and she trashed her Mum's kitchen!"
It’s very gratifying for us to see the babies rescued and transition through your care to the crèche. You do a great job and have a big heart for giving so much of your time and love to these fantastic flying 🦊. Piccalilli is one of my favorites. She looks like she is a bit overwhelmed by the new surroundings and hanging there with her dummy in her mouth. Also, excellent technique with the grape in Carla’s mouth. Did this work with Megabitie, or was she to fast with the teeth to attempt without loosing a finger tip. 🙄
I don't remember ever stuffing Miss Megabytie's face with a grape to protect myself. It was a few years ago - she was Megabytie to begin with but she turned into a total sooky la la in no time and lost her bitiness.
i was wondering why there's bands on one side of their thumb. i'm from the USA and i don't know too much about the fruit bats but they've always interested me.
@@Megabattie ah okay that make sense. I'm guessing they come off when released and in the case of them staying in care for one reason or another they keep them on?
@@Megabattie ah so no different than here with birds and such. The only difference would be the bats have it on their thumbs and birds on their feet. Thank you for answering my questions, I love watching your channel and learning about the bats.
It's lino and it's a bit padded. But they don't fall. They would flap like crazy if they felt like they were falling, and hook onto everything they could grab. Lots of drapes and lots of mesh everywhere.
If they bite into a finger joint they can cause a lot of pain and infection. They have strong jaws and sharp canines. If you get bitten it hurts. They also don't like to let go, so to get free of them you have to let them go.
Our babies get banded before release, once they get transferred to the release cage, but it depends on the availability of a bander. banding licences are hard to come by. Some creches band, some don't.
I shall miss you, sweet precious one. I wish you a long and happy life!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I had a bit of a tear saying bye to Picalilly❣️ But well done ladies now she is on her way to freedom as you always hoped for❣️
Best wishes to Picca and Kyla!!!

Good luck darlins!💎💙💚❤👍
Awwww!!!Goodbye Picca!!!!!! Stay safe. Oh I'm gonna miss her.😭
I love it when you show us the crèche! It’s so fun seeing how everyone is doing and hearing the stories about each bat. Thank you Meg.
Glad they're making the first step back to the wild!!
Piccalilli will be missed. Such a sweetheart. Wishing her and all the little ones a great life. 💖💖💖
Aw, good luck in your new home, girls. Make us all proud of you 😘
Good luck being big girls! 💚🙌
I would have a hard time releasing Picallili, she is adorable!!
We will miss Piccalilli !! She acquired many slaves. Please keep us posted!

I Love Creche videos.
Kyla did a wave goodbye. Piccalilli needs some support with a dummy. Ah! Meg, a fig tax! Cute! Do Well Sweet ones! :,-)
Picca has ditched her dummy now.
Congratulations on giving two more patties a chance at life again! 🎊💕🦇🦇💕🎊
It’s their first day of Kindergarten. How exciting 😊
You can tell it's hard to let go of Piccalilli for you Meg, rest assured, she will be fine. You and Maggie have got her this far... a great start xxx

LOL “who’s the hairdresser?” @5:26
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Meg being hair-styled by entrepreneurial bats like Justine...

Fly safely kids and may you be blessed with lots of children, yummy fruit and flowers and cool spots for Summer
That has to be tough to hand them off when it's time, even when they've trashed the joint.
Thank you for getting them on their way, Meg.🌸💟

What a big girl piccalillie pork chop is now. Blessings to you little girl. Xxxx
Dear Picalilli Pork Chop, happy trails to you (as the US baby boomers say). 🙂❤🦇
Very interesting. I have not seen a mini-creche video before. Now I know what you are talking about when you refer to mini-creche.

Carolyn Nunes Yes, I love a good thumb war as well!
we call it thumb boxing.

Grow big and strong Piccalilli pork chop, give the world lots of little batty people when you're old enough.

La guardería está de lo más divertida!!!
😊
i was wondering why there's bands on one side of their thumb. i'm from the USA and i don't know too much about the fruit bats but they've always interested me.
The bands are to identify them in the aviary.
If there are a lot of bats around the same age size and sex, we need to know which is which.
@@Megabattie ah okay that make sense. I'm guessing they come off when released and in the case of them staying in care for one reason or another they keep them on?
The plastic bands come off, the metal ID bands are permanent. They have a number for a national bird and bat banding scheme database.
@@Megabattie ah so no different than here with birds and such. The only difference would be the bats have it on their thumbs and birds on their feet. Thank you for answering my questions, I love watching your channel and learning about the bats.
The floor looks awfully hard for any little ones that fall on their head.
It's lino and it's a bit padded.
But they don't fall. They would flap like crazy if they felt like they were falling, and hook onto everything they could grab. Lots of drapes and lots of mesh everywhere.

Wondering how many times you’ve been bitten and if they can do real damage or not?
If they bite into a finger joint they can cause a lot of pain and infection. They have strong jaws and sharp canines. If you get bitten it hurts.
They also don't like to let go, so to get free of them you have to let them go.
Do all hand-raised bats get banded when they go to creche or is it something some creche "monitors" do and others don't? ~db
Our babies get banded before release, once they get transferred to the release cage, but it depends on the availability of a bander. banding licences are hard to come by.
Some creches band, some don't.
Do you build the living areas yourselves .?
I live in an apartment. I don't have minicreche or creche space.
The carers with the inclination and the space build their own areas.
