Cool video! When I was a kid in the early 70's we would hitchhike to the intercontinental airport and mess around, ride the train between the two terminals (only 2 then) and generally get in peoples way. We would carry bags for people out to the parking lots and pick ups zones for tips. Of course airport redcaps didn't like that much. Thanks for the memories.

Strange seeing the CA based Columbia blimp in Texas when they always had their own (the America). This was also the same year it was replaced by the recently defunct GZ-20 design, my personal favorite. Don't really care for the new semi-rigid zeps.

I went to spring High School for a short time in the early 70's. The blimb hanger was across 45 and we would see them dock and undock it when we were outside. One time I got to witness it when it got away from them and came close to crashing into the stadium.

@@xecukc7010 i lived right by in the 70s and witnessed the same things - minus the untethered moment you witnessed. the visitor's center was great - all glass and dug into a grass mound they created. My father knew someone at goodyear and we got to participate in a landing - and got to see the huge hanger and support crew.
