Character Creation is what sold me on Mork Borg. You can roll up characters that are so hilariously stupid yet cool as fuck at the same time. For example, one of the players at the Glass Cannon Podcast rolled up an oracle of a dead god of death whose only possessions were a donkey and a bomb...it's just amazing!
I just got jump scared by a toy Dino and a scream. Glad to know I'd actually scream in terror when combat starts at Taron's table if it is announced like that...
A quick aside, this game plays more like a roguelike in that 'getting better' isn't so much how your character increases their competence, it's more about finding new gear. There aren't many ways to stop death, but there are many ways that players can avoid that situation altogether. If you die, starting up a new char is just a way to have a fresh start.
Love how much traffic Mörk Borg and the other iterations are getting! I currently have a CY_BORG campaign running and am starting another Mörk Borg for a different bunch. It's a great system that's easily tweaked into whatever weirdness you want to create.
I love that it uses reaction and morale like in the D&D's of old instead of assuming every living or unliving thing just wants to fight you to the death on sight. Yeah the world sucks but it also needs room to be weird. 💚
Been playing as a bear cursed skinwalker in our game and my dm roled up a chaos zeihander when roling for loot, needless to say he was really surprised at my luck
Mörk actually means dark in swedish :) the dots it's part of our langugae. But yeah It has been used by a lot of metal bands and such to make the name cooler.
I’m so glad u mentioned the rule book being hard to follow cause I was so confused when I tried to read it and I thought it was just my autistic ass lmao
10:02 Reaction's been the name for that mechanic since the D&D Basic set back in the late 70's (maybe earlier, I haven't read OD&D). Probably any OSR game that tried to rename it would get some weird looks, since it's so ingrained.
I love the These games my favorite is cyborg. Mainly because you can take everything and anything from every other iteration. The magic, the pirates the guns and you can all throw them into that 1.And it will all still work because you can just say Hey.When geese when ground zero went off the whole entire world basically experienced one massive metaphysical glitch. Also I like to run it as a true rogue like in the sense of when your character It gets greased I rule it that your new character gets that Gear, your old character had since there's no real level.Up system or anything gear is how you improve yourself and your chances for survival. So it made sense to me to make it at like Where to spite your character meeting a greasy end Your new character gets all their old gear.Cause they just stumble across the scene of the old character's demise. The surviving player characters knowing that they're living on the edge. And well, you can't really pick your allies in this situation.Just automatically take them in. Because screw it.Why not.
I love Mork Borg and they are awesome with how you can use their property and add on to it with clear and concise rules. This can either be really positive or negative but 3rd party supplements for the game, for which I own about 20, are usually extremely small and focused. About 5 of the supplements i have are a standard US Paper size turned horizontal and trifolded. They are cool, but extremely small. Other expansions are a single class or a set of 3 monsters. You aren't often getting fully fleshed out products, you are more getting the page of another metal magazine.
What was the name of the artist you said at around 00:25? The auto captions say Ralph Stemmons, but I'm not finding anything for names even remotely similar. Can anyone help me out? Edit: nevermind, enough creative googling found the result. To anyone else who was curious, it's Ralph Steadman who is known for his Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas art amongst others.
So, a 25% chance to die when you drop to zero hp? That's 75% less lethal than old school d&d. (Yeah, I know, just on the face it.) Sounds awesome, but something my kids would want to do once in awhile, just for the flavor. Pick it up when I get the chance.
classes were better than no-classing until the Heretic supplement included the feats for no-class players, and most of the feats are better than the class features.
I never played D&D or any other TTRPG (if you don't count Munchkin, hahah). I've decided to start with Mörk Bork, and came here to learn what it's all about. And here you explain to me stuff like "toughness is similar to constitution". Okay...
It's pronounced in Swedish like "Murk Boree" but the company is aware of how others pronounce it as Mork Borg and have turned it into a joke by releasing things like "Ork Borg" and stuff like that.

a donkey and a bomb are really all you need.
You are what you own!

True story, my players TPKed from being hit by a meteor. And more than once when looting the room, they rolled a bomb that blew off their hand.

Ninja Borg too.
I have found my people. It took 41 years, but I found my people.
For future reference, the two dota above a vowel are called an umlaut.
Just found your channel, and it is exactly what I have been looking for (even though I didn't know it) - cosy, informative, nice, friendly and fun!

Tack!
I love that it was dedicated to Pelle "DEAD" Ohlin R.I.P. , infamous singer of scandinavian extreme metal bands Morbid and MayheM.
I fucking love the art and aesthetic of this game.

Oh cool, I didn’t know there was also a WW1 version of this! I’ll have to give it a look. Thanks for covering Mork Borg; it’s such a fun game.
This game gives me dark souls and Elden ring vibes
the strange art and weird layouts honestly helped me read it lol

Another excellent addition to my collection

Your "typical" crazy class description is to die for LMFAO!!!!!!

You had waaay too much fun editing this
Mörkk Borg - the end is only the beginning - ... oh please.

Just about to run my first game and this was an incredibly handy overview! Thanks so much!!
This has been my favorite game for about the past year. Now I'm itching to use my new Cy_Borg stuff.

Thanks for the review.
Thanks this was very helpful.
All right, picked it up. Got to check this out
Putrescence Regnant is the most amazing TTRPG thing I own.
...and there is a competitive cooking show version of Mork Borg called Smorgasborg! 🥁😉
This video has convinced to try this system. Thanks!
Thanks
I can't wait to get my hands on this game!

Campaigns? Average life span = 5 combat turns.
Dang, where the heck can I find that vinyl!?
It’s unfortunately now completely and finally out of print. They sold the final 20 copies at Gen Con this year
I’ve been kinda’ interested in this game for a while but haven’t jumped in yet. Thanks for the overview, it helps!
Been doing my own thing with it as well just a bit different than the ones listed but definitely
"you know this game is metal af [...] and it uses these two dots above the o right here" no, Ö is just a letter in the Swedish alphabet.
It’s a joke
Fear and Hunger vibes
Nanu, Nanu, you will be assimilated.

Um... actually... I believe it's pronounced Mjweurk Bjjeirwgrghrgg...
"MÖRK BORG vomits style" - you said everything here.

@@Indestructoboy Okay
Doesn't that speck on your glasses bother you?
Yup, that's why I got new ones.
Mörk Borg is swedish för dark castle.
Dark Fort, but yeah, I'm aware. Lol
How the hell do you pronounce the name of the game?

Wow! Awesome video, would you review my RPG maybe? :)
Yelling COMBAT is big dumb and immediately made me click off 🙄
