Vietnam - Phoenix from the Ashes - Wildest Indochina 4/5 - Go Wild

  • Vietnam is the easternmost country on the Indochina peninsula. Its tropical jungles are bursting with wildlife. But less than 50 years ago, things were very different. For more than a decade, Vietnam’s forests were decimated, as a battle between people became a war against nature. The devastation was so massive that the terms “ecological warfare” and ‘ecocide’ were coined to describe it. The dust finally settled and remarkably, life fought back.

Awesome documentary about Vietnam's rich wildlife and its nature. Our Wildlife Tour in Vietnam in Oct/2023 was organised by Vietnam Eco-Tours. We luckily met a lot of endemic mammals species (red shanked douc, Cat Ba Langurs etc). The local ecoguide Vietnam, Luc Nguyen, was really excellent. Our next trip will be a Photography Birding Tour Vietnam with Vietnam Eco-Tours. Can't wait for it 🦬🐒🦚🐸🐊🦋🐛🦠🐵🐒

The Red Shank Duke monkeys are the most !! . He is so well made-up and so intricately put together . It's as if the leaders in the fashion world, have at some point taken a page out of his book .

Thanks for reminding me how beautiful my country is. I thought the birds of Paradises are the most colorful birds until i saw the bird in this documentary. Great documentary and I've subscribed.

Wonderful documentary which shows how nature can bounce back after forty years of war and destruction.

A wonderful film but it shows that there will be only one winner and that's nature because humanity will destroy itself and become extinct and then the Planet will flourish

So you're saying "climate change" isn't real? That Earth will continue to flourish no matter what humans do? That we may kill ourselves off yet we're not actually killing the planet?

Hello … I love all your wild nature ‘documentaries. In Vietnam , there are 7 endemic langurs who have still survived nowadays , from North to South : 1/ Tonkin snub-nosed langur 2/ Cat-Ba island langur 3/ Delacour’s langur 4/ Hatinh ‘s Langur 5/ Red shanked Douc langur 6/ Gray shanked douc langur 7/ black shanked douc langur .
And the last Javan unicorn rhinoceros has been shot illegally in 2010 in the Nam-Cat-Tien national park , South of Vietnam .

I have ever since 1972 been deeply shocked by the ecocide in Vietnam. Never I ll forgive this General Westmoreland to have ruined an area as large as one third of my country The Netherlands by his dioxine poisening ( agent orange) and carpet bombing. I have seen the children malformed by these chemicals and napalm dropped from the air. To be followed by an entire range of wars, today even on my subcontinent....with depleted uranium ammunition, spoiling the best agricultural soil in the world. I am so excited to see beautiful species making a come back after the hell on earth caused by the military-industrial-complex.... alfred.vierling@gmail.com

However, after having seen some of the more intricate color patterns ,of the coats some species of monkeys . I'm forced to change my point of view .
