    The best is when Wormer tells Pinto that his 1.2 GPA is at the top of the Delta pledge class--Bluto and Flounder give him these "congratulations, way to go" looks like it's some kind of noteworthy scholastic achievement!! This movie RULES FOREVER!!

    Daniel has no grade point average. All courses incomplete.
    When I was in high school, I was part of the key club. During parent night we would help out with passing the report cards to parents but we even peeked at the grades because they weren't in envelopes, just folded. A lot students had incompletes. I remember one student had all F's and Incompletes in every subject except gym which was a C.
    I heard one girl, a junior had no credits in any courses except in gym and chorus. The guidance counselor told the girl's mother that there was no way she was going to graduate and that she could go to a jr. college and get a GED but she wasn't going to get her high school diploma. The mother was outraged and told him that he was wrong but he calmly said, "Ma'am, I have been a counselor for 35 years. I've come across many students like your daughter and I can assure you, I know what I'm talking about."
    My high school had a lot of students that didn't take schoolwork seriously. They only did well in gym. Well, doing well in gym isn't going to get you far. Even if you want to become a professional athlete, you still have to go to college for any hopes of that because recruiters usually only look for young athletes on college teams. They don't look for possible candidates in high schools.

    0.0 GPA. So that means Bluto never showed up for class and never turned in any work. If his academic scores and coursework were this bad, he would have been called in to speak with his professors and would have been dismissed from his courses as well as would have other academic penalties would have been imposed on him. There would have been no way that he would been allowed to attend any courses before this point, much less would have been allowed to take the midterm exams. Then the decision would have been made that he would have to withdraw from Faber College.

      0.0 means all his grades are F - not necessaily that he didn't turn in work. Also, I don't know where you went to college, but in my experience professors absolutely do not call in students to speak about substandard work. They regard the progress of the student as entirely the student's responsibiity.

    • @atroll109
      @atroll109 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blueodum Most colleges and universities insist that students have to maintain at the least a minimum of a 2.0 GPA to remain in good academic standing and to keep being enrolled. The Deltas are already on academic probation. So realistically, they would or should be getting notifications and summons from advisors and other members of the school administration that they would need to drastically improve their grades or face expulsion or having to withdraw from school. Based on my academic experience and from other people that that I know, participation is included as being a part of students' grades for a class. So a student gets credit just from showing up. Yes, professors do regard student progress as entirely their own responsibility, but they would still voice their concerns to advisors, etc. who would be in contact with those students with such bad academic scores and coursework. Funding and grants from alumni and government is determined by how successful a college/university is and how many students graduate. So it would not be in a college/university's interest to have students who are performing that poorly.
