Very honest video. I liked watching the details you mention. I am learning a lot. I was wondering how come your shoulers of the top is a perfect one, and hummm now I know you make them correct with " try on"! I had passion for sewing when I was a teenager and living in a joint family, having all cousin sisters and I being the eldest, had a great opportunity to make dresses for them. When I got married and had 2 sons only..so when they passed the toddler stage I ended up doing my punjabi dress a few of them as in India the common dress code in our society is "saaree"! WEll, I started making my saaree blouse and was happy with my sewing activity, I could do as and when I needed the item! Now both my sons got married, luckily both have 2 daughters, 4 granddaughters! whoaa...I made quite a few forcks, tops, night dresses etc...but now they are entering in teenage stage, naturally they would not wear hand made dresses. Well, but I do want to learn perfection so making my own tops, though I don't need them as because of corona we hardly go out! :-D Thank you so much for such inspirational videos, learning by watching and whenever I have to make one, I can rely on your tips to get better results! Thank you again! :-D
Lucky for me, where I live we have very few bugs, only the occasional mosquito. Of course there are earthworms in the soil etc. But I completely avoid bees, though I know they do important work. My 30 year old daughter had an exploratory laparoscopy 6 weeks ago, they bought they would find endometriosis, but she had a very large fibroid. Because she has Von Willebrands they did not remove it that day. So last week she had that removed. All of this resulted in her moving back home so we could assist her while she recovers. So, my sewing hasn’t been very high on the list . She is a week post surgery today and coming along well. Glad Martin is fully recovered!!
Karina, you makes were great! The red one is beautiful! I also wanted to say...I'm sorry to here Martin still isn't well! Take care of your family that's more important!!! We all understand❣ Well wishes for Martin!!!!
I really like all your tops, especially the red/black version with the linen yokes. I'm working on modifying the top now prior to making the dress - LENGTHENED! Appreciate all your tips. Thank you.
Hi Karina. These 3 tops all look good on you. They are better made up than in the line drawings. That was a nice birthday present. Hope your son is better now. 😊
Beautiful sewing and such smart customization as always! I appreciate your showing all the details about the fit modifications and customizing you do as I am still learning how to do this for myself. I often need to adjust the bust darts and narrow the shoulders too. I love how you showed off the back yoke and cuffs in contrast fabrics. It highlights those design features very well. Thanks for sharing! I am glad your son is getting better.
Those first two shirts are works of art. I learn a sewing and fitting tip every time I watch your videos. I am so glad to hear your son is better. Thanks
Beautiful tops. Glad to see you again. I'm glad Martin is improved but sorry he is not 100 percent yet. I'll be praying for him and you, as you care for him.
And Karina, let me tell you, I have never used the ready patterns and that is why it is difficult to get exact final out come. But the last one I made I am so happy that I had to walk on the rope to fix several issues popped up with the "work in progress!" Thanks for your tips that helped me adjust the issues! :-D
Thank you for your detailed explanations of the alterations and how to go sleeveless as well. It is very helpful. I'm learning a lot. I have the same fabric you have for the first top. I had made a loose jacket/mid length duster. It's too light for that. Now I can use your idea for the Cielo top! Thank you, Thank you!
You have made some lovely tops. This is very timely for me as I just bought this pattern and am planning to make the tops in the next few weeks. Loved the first top - that fabric is beautiful. I also really liked the longer-sleeved one on you. I am small so the crop is probably fine for me, but I may have a go at the apex change. Thank you.
Apex height is the most modifiable in most patterns. The standard height can differ due to many reasons and an ill fitting dart does not look good. I always prioritize this before sewing. Thank you so much 😊
Thanks so much. I made this today. I'm making another one now. I wondered about inviting the dart also. You do a great job explaining and I appreciate it!
Love Love the Celio tops, you are so clever and guess what Karina i am just waiting for my fabric to arrive....so excited to make my first short sleeve top from Celio.😁 I like you, will make longer also. Thanks for all the tips which will be super helpful. LOVE watching your sewing projects🌸🌸
I really like how you make every pattern your own. You are so right, the garment should fit you. They all turned out as fun, colourful tops, that will get worn a lot - I suspect. Bravo!
As always, your hacks inspire and amaze me! I love all of them, but that colourful fabric is fabulous! Thank you for always showing us your processes. TFS and have a great week! 👍❤
Love them all Karina. Thank you for sharing your adjustments. I really like to see what changes you make. That colorful one makes me smile, happy fabric.
All your tops are lovely but I really love the satin charmeuse one. The colors are gorgeous and I think you maximized the fabric print with your pattern placement. I also really liked the lantern sleeves on the chiffon one. I hope Martin continues to improve & is feeling well really soon.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles I thought that was what they were called, so I looked it up to make sure and found this interesting tutorial: www.threadsmagazine.com/2018/02/21/learn-draft-lantern-sleeve . I know you like pattern work, so I thought you'd find it interesting.

Oh my gosh! I found this fabric today! They only had a yard and a half and I remembered your top with this fabric so I grabbed it up. This will be my 4th Cielo and I can hardly wait! Thank you for your generosity in sharing your makes (and I’m totally copying that first top)!
This was the first of your videos I have watched. I like that you showed how to make the changes, it was easy to follow your train of thought. I LOVE the birthday fabric. That shirt and fabric are AMAZING!
Hi Karina. Like your alterations,I love the material of the first top, really beautiful, Also really like the other 2 but don't really like the sleeves on the red patterened one, but you made it work! Thanks for showing how you alter a pattern to make it work for you, very helpful.
Karina, I recently read a sewing article that said "fabric is everything" and your Cielo tops are perfect examples of that statement. LOVE the fabric Viv sent to you, your favorite Chiffon worked beautifully for the full sleeved version, and the emerald green tank version is lovely. The pattern alterations you made dramatically improved the boxy shape, too. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the Rome collection.
I do actually fall in love with fabric first. The style and pairing come much later with the right inspiration. It’s a fun process. Thank you so much 😊
I am so appreciative of the work you put into these tops, and your written explanation in the notes. This is a pattern I might have passed on, but you showed us how to make adjustments. I feel the same way about matching threads to my fabrics. Thank you!
Threads to fabric is huge to me. I’ll delay a project if I don’t have the matching color for the serger. Fortunately I can find a vast array of colors locally and not expensive at all.
I have made a few Cielo tops and dresses. I am definitely going to try the lowered neckline. I do find the pattern neckline too high. I made a top with the gathered sleeve in silk and I ended up taking some width out of the sleeve, I felt it would be way too puffy at the top. I love all of your tips.
All your fabrics are beautiful choices. I particularly love the shape of the big sleeve version. I am pretty sure I remember a Burda magazine pattern with similar sleeves. I need to go back and find it!!
Hi Karina, I'm so glad I just watched this video. I too thought the bust darts were way too high on the model and was confused as I was always taught the dart pointed to the apex. Now you have confirmed my suspicions, I shall alter on my pattern! thanks again for your fabulous work, I love watching you xx (well THAT sounded a tad creepy?>>> lol)
I love the fact that you use Indie patterns. Would you consider doing a few makes of, Hot Patterns? From Florida I think? Thanks. I’m glad your son is feeling better. Looking forward to your next “visit” :)

Love each one of your very colorful tops. You have enticed me to try sewing a project using chiffon. Do you have a video on making bias binding with chiffon? Hope Martin is on his way to a full recovery. Love your videos!!
I cut the bias tape like normal and then spray it until soaked with starch spray before putting it through the bias tape maker. This video shows a little at minute 6:40 th-cam.com/video/7iv20zhVnRI/w-d-xo.html
I have the pattern and now you have inspired me to actually get on and make it! Thank you. May I say I love the ruched top you are wearing? Have you a video for that one too?
All your tops are beautiful Karina. I recognized that vibrant Charmeuse from Vivian right away, lol. I enjoy seeing how you modify patterns to suit your taste. I just used some bias tape on a blouse neckline the other day. I don't usually sew with it but I'd like to do more. Do you have any videos where you apply bias tape? I haven't actively looked yet but I'm sure you must. I'm very interested to hearing your review on the Closet Case pants pattern. P.S, take your time while caring for your boy:) xo
I wasn’t either at first and got it because the bundle was cost effective. I don’t add darts to everything and I wouldn’t want these types of fabric too fitted to me. If you note, I don’t always do the same adjustments. Boxier styles also have their place in my wardrobe, as long as they are the right fabric and length. I specially like the huge sleeves in chiffon. It’s a new style for me.
Karina, (I do hope I spelled your name correctly) I hope your son is feeling better now. I have watched a few a your videos & I appreciated how you show the changes you make to the pattern. The first video I saw of your's was the shorts jumpsuit & you said you might make it into a peplum top (I think) Did you ever do that? If so how did it turn out? I enjoyed this video, thanks so much. Take care & God Bless.
I made it into a dress and need to edit the footage of how I did that. I will be showing this later on and I’m happy with how it turned out. Thanks for watching 😊.
I also love frixion pens, especially for quilting. Its unlikely to be an issue in most climates, but I did find that the frixion ink reappears somewhat if you put the fabric in the refrigerator. Re-ironing causes it to disappear again.
This is the dart on the pattern and that’s why I used it. I didn’t make the pattern. Later, I made another video where I moved the dart to the side of the bust.
As always I find your process interesting, but I would have to say I would not purchase this pattern. I like the full sleeve blouse the best, but having said that, it has the "football" shoulders look that I don't like, because of the fullness of the sleeve that you see viewing the back. You can pull it off with chiffon, but really any other fabric would make most look like a quarter back in fancy dress.
Exactly the quarterback situation. That’s why I mentioned I’d make it in chiffon always. I’m always looking for styles to use with chiffon because it’s my fave. I can’t even imagine how bad I’d look with this in chambray 😂.

If you look at the website of the pattern, you’ll see there is a regular sleeve there. This one is only in 3/4”, but it’s up to you.
I've just bought a bunch of frixion pens, do they just wash out of the fabric? Or do they disappear from heat?
They disappear with the iron. Easy. I’ve only started to use them and they are a game changer!
I also love frixion pens, especially for quilting. Its unlikely to be an issue in most climates, but I did find that the frixion ink reappears somewhat if you put the fabric in the refrigerator. Re-ironing causes it to disappear again.
I’d heard that too. In freezing temp. Luckily that never happens here.

how come for the dart you used old dart leg positions, i thought we are supposed to cut out and shift the whole dart down/up?
This is the dart on the pattern and that’s why I used it. I didn’t make the pattern. Later, I made another video where I moved the dart to the side of the bust.
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles so do you mean for all patterns that I purchase I am supposed to use the old dart legs and not shift the entire dart?
👏🤗💖
