- Tag along with Justin and Haylee Newell in Black Hills of Wyoming. They find themselves set up on a flock of Merriams just before first light. The surrounding timber comes alive with turkeys as Justin hopes to put a tag on his very first Merriams.. If you enjoy hearing wild turkeys this video is a must see.

Thanks Matt!! It was a great time hunting in Wyoming for sure. One of the best turkey populations we ever had the chance to hunt.. Seems like turkey numbers are down everywhere for the most part. Appreciate you watching and best of luck to you in New York!!

Hello MMO crew I have a question for Haylee, I am a young call maker looking to compete in a state turkey calling competition and I just wanted to ask how do they judge your calling? I’ve heard you can’t call like your hunting.
Hey Tanner first off I’d like to say thanks for following along with the videos. Haylee is on her way to Nashville as we speak to call in the Grand Nationals this week so that’s why I’m answering. It’s awesome to hear that your making calls. If your considering calling at contests I would recommend listening to as many real turkeys as you can. Calling in contests is set up a little different than hunting because they are looking to hear one particular call at a time. Most of the time when hunting it’s more like carrying on a conversation with another bird. Your sound is obviously gonna be a part of your score, presentation, realism, and feeling also add to your score. Calling clean with as minimal mistakes as possible is the goal also. I hope this may have helped answer some of questions and best of luck to ya on calling and call building!! Feel free to reach out anytime!! Thanks again
Hi Justin!, thanks for your help and good luck this spring season!!
Man I’ve only hunted easterns!! I want to get out there so bad!! Congratulations!!
Thanks for watching!! You gotta do it if you get the chance!! Just being out there in that country is well worth the trip. Most vocal birds we ever hunted anywhere.. Hope you get to make the trip and best of luck to ya!! Appreciate the comments!!
I got my first Merriam about a mile from the Devil's Tower year before last.
Congrats on your bird!! That's an awesome area to hunt!! Appreciate you watching!!
@@memoriesmadeoutdoors9028 Thank you! I really enjoyed your video
@@bobbywatts222 Thanks!!
Nice bird, congrats!!
Thanks buddy!! Appreciate you following along!! Best of luck to ya this upcoming spring!!
Thought first bird was better
It may have been I wasn’t trying to be picky. I was more concerned with trying to capture everything on video and make the shot without spooking the birds. Thanks for watching!!
