- I have upgraded my OneFinity X-35 WoodWorker to an Elite Foreman. This machine has a larger cutting capacity and opens up a lot more options to CNC new projects. In this video I walk through the table design + build as well as the initial unboxing and setup. I also decided to go with a spindle for this machine vs the Makita router I have been using and I talk about the differences between the two different systems.

Great job mark!
Thank you! I’m a big fan of your machines.
Phenomenal content per usual Mark! Love the walkthrough you did!
Thanks Chantz. Question for you: are you still using the Makita router or are you using something different now?
@@EigenDesigns I’m still basic and use the Makita router!
Amazing Video. Thank you. I am considering one of these machines and this was a huge help.
Thank you so very much. I just received my Elite Journeyman. And was really hoping to see exactly what you just did! Thanks. I also really love your work bench solution. Looks super rigid!
Chris
Glad it was helpful Chris! The 4x4 construction of the CNC has been rock solid. I have been really happy with it so far. Good luck with your elite foreman!
I'm thinking of getting the same but can this be run all day
Great work! Excited to see the content you will put out with this new shiny toy 🙂
Thank you. Any suggestions on what I should make?
I don’t seek out cnc or laser content but I enjoy when my favorite content creators put out these type of videos. It’s possible someday that I may be in the market for them so having this info is quite helpful.
Thanks Logan. I think you would really like it if you ever got into it. It opens up a whole new realm of creativity once you come up the learning curve. Thanks for your continued support!
Great review. When I first saw the masso controller it looked overwhelming. Not so now, after you’ve explained it a bit. 😊
Great vid...my 1F Elite Forman arrives thus weekend...you dud a great showing of how to set up the table, power and cnc.
Thanks so much! Congrats on your new machine. It’s notably heavier than the smaller version, but very well constructed. I am sure you will love it
Congrats! Mine will be here in a couple months-good time for me to change the shop up and try to learn as much as I can from all you fine peeps.
Love the spoil board system will be sure to check out your dedicated video
So well done, Mark! Super clean setup. You’ve inspired me to fix up my xcarve station. Also what, no LED light strip behind the logo? 🤣
Thanks JP - I was going for a more aesthetic setup since I am using my CNC for a lot of TH-cam content.
Also, you think I would let you down? Check out 22:48 😉
@@EigenDesigns Ha! I should have caught that. Nice work!
😂😂😂I may have laughed at the moment of silence it was good, but I really needed a laugh so thank you. I also totally love the last enclosure. I want to make one just like yours.
Yessss!
I liked the last enclosure too, but I went with an open design for the larger CNC.
Nice Shop, good job
Thank you 😃
Awesome walk through. Have you put any thought into your enclosure?
Thanks Nathan! I have decided to keep this design an open-top concept. I will run dust collection to the dust boot, but other than that I have no plans to build an enclosure around this thing.
Did you buy the wiring extension kit from Onefinity? Looks like you have quite adequate wiring lengths with this install.
No, these are just the cables that come standard with the elite foreman
Congrats on the upgrade Mark! I've been watching since the start and it's very encouraging to see you upgrade in only a couple of years.
I'm still scrounging together the pennies for an x50 woodworker or journeyman, but down the line I'd love to upgrade to the elite, but a pwncnc spindle will definitely be one of the sooner upgrades.
Looking forward to more content!
Thanks so much! You’ve been an early supporter and I appreciate that. The spindle is one of the biggest game changers for this upgrade. My first impressions are very positive so far 😀
Great video. Very helpful for those of us looking to jump into CNC and are debating jumping in with two feet (foreman elite) or taking steps (X-50 woodworker). I'm inclined to go straight to the foreman elite. Any regrets now that you have had your system for four months?
None whatsoever. I really like the elite foreman. It's a significant upgrade from what I had and opens the door to a lot more CNC projects for me. If you can make the finances work, I would highly recommend the elite foreman.
@@EigenDesigns Thanks for the reply. I'll be working on the finances 🙂.
Very nice video
Thank you 😊
Very Nice Mark! I just received one of the very first Foreman Pro's off of the line, and am going to use your table build as inspiration. I'm curious as to the front overhang dimension. I'm guessing about 14" to allow for a 12" drawer? Any regrets as to this aspect or size of overhang? I think those drawers will come in handy. I looked through the comments but didn't see this question asked, I apologize if it's a repeat question. Thanks man!
I bought the Openbuilds 1515, I wish I'd saved a bit more and gotten this instead... Live and learn LOL
Oh bummer. If you get serious enough about it I am sure you could sell yours and get this one. Based on what I see on my local woodworking facebook market place page, CNCs usually hold about 60-70% of their value when sold. It's something to consider.
Good luck!
@@EigenDesigns I'm finally getting serious about the business side of woodworking. I'm incredibly lucky to have access to some resources through the VA which should help immensely.
I'm not sure if when I get to the point of upgrading, I should get this one or save a bit more and go right for a commercial grade machine...
@@robbie6625 if you're going to be working with mostly sheet goods (e.g. plywood and MDF) then you should consider waiting until you can afford a 4'x8' commerical machine. The type of work I do doesn't require a footprint that large so I can do 99% of what I need with a 4'x4' machine.
Bad ass. I just ordered an x50 journeyman and am excited to learn
You are going to love it! Thanks for the support.
Congrats! Me too! It’s gonna be a couple months until it gets here, but that’s okay because I know NOTHING, and this time will used to try to get up to speed a little bit.
Can you please share the spindle mfr and the controller source? I like the air cooled idea better than water cooled…
Put some LED lights behind the logo disc. A little extra umph. Looks great as is though. I'm torn between the OneFinity elite system and the Shapeoko 5 pro. limited budget so.....
Great idea, thank you. My advice to you would be to save up for the machine you really want and don’t compromise on a big purchase like this. I am biased towards the OneFinity (because I have had a good experience with them), but would encourage you to save the right machine for you. One positive for the CNC is that they can really help you make money so the hobby can pay for itself, if you choose to go that route.
good video! Thanks for posting! I notice your old table was enclosed. is there a reason you did not enclosed the new table? (I'm thinking about dust control.)
The larger footprint would have made the enclosure very substantial in my workshop. I am liking the open look on my cnc and the enhanced access to all areas of the CNC. In regards to dust control, none of that has been a problem with the v10 DustBoot and my dust collector.
Ok, now I HAVE to buy a CNC!
It's a great investment that I would highly recommend! 😃
Great video, thanks for that!
Do you remember where you got the 3D file for the Elite Forman? Have searched but cant find any :/
This is awesome work. Super excited to get started on my own build. Will definitely be taking inspiration from ya!
Any chance you'd mind sharing your 3D model of the Foreman?
Hey Paul - I can email it to you. Please send me your email address and I can get it to you.
@@EigenDesigns Done! I really appreciate it!
@@EigenDesigns Would you mind sharing the model with me too?

Great Video one mistake is that Masso does have a handheld but is an optional add on ( I have one on my Cadcam unit and did the Masso upgrade )
Thought so. Thank ya for clarifying!
Great video(s) Mark! I’m getting my Foreman this wk but was wondering why you choose to not have the enclosure system again?
The larger footprint would have made it difficult to access all areas of the CNC if I would have built an enclosure. So far I haven’t missed the enclosure… I am enjoying the open top concept 😊
@15:24 Who sells those clamps? I didn't see a link for those in the description. Thanks!
Give these a shot: amzn.to/3QJpBxZ
Thanks!@@EigenDesigns
Do you recall what size hole you needed in the tabletop under your screen mount to fit the wiring harness through?
I used a 1-1/4" forstener bit to make the hole.
Cool 🤩 what’s is the push clamps called that’s on the bed of the cnc?
Thank you! Here is a link to those clamps: amzn.to/3qNZ1ZX
I will go into those in more detail on my next video
Masso does sell a handheld mpg controller
I have seen it, but it’s just not quite as simple as the old Logitec controller. However, after using the Masso screen for a while now, I find that it works just fine for jogging the spindle around.
New subscriber here. Your videos are very well done and easy to watch. A couple of questions - do you plan to build a new enclosure for this machine? If not, why did you decide not to? Your machine base looks really nice but do you have any issues with it not being completely flat or rigid enough? I am close to ordering an Elite Journeyman and have watched people build torsion boxes to mount the machine to and I just wonder if that would be overkill.
Hey Andy, no plans to build an enclosure. Two main reasons for this: my dust collect is good enough to where shavings going everywhere isn't a concern for me. Also, an enclosure for a CNC this large could make access a challenge so I elected to have an "open-top" concept.
Also, no issues with the rigidity of the base. The base is super solid and I have not had any issues with it at all after surfacing the spoilboard. I don't personally see a need for that with how I use my machine.
Any EMI problems? Especially with the drag chain
None so far
I noticed in the comments that you are not planning an enclosure for the Elite Foreman as you are happy with your dust collection. How have you found the noise level with your current setup with spindle and no enclosure? Thanks. Loved your old enclosure - I am considering using it as a basis for my on order Elite Journeyman - unless not needed.
The spindle is definitely quieter than the old Makita router, but I found that the loudest thing in my shop was my dust collector that sits right next to my CNC table. It didn't seem to matter that the CNC noise was dampened when the dust collector is still roaring in my shop. Not everyone will be in the same situation as me so perhaps an enclosure still makes sense for some.
Good luck Richard!
When I work alone, I prefer to be by myself...
It makes you Thoroughgood
What kind of feedrate are you getting with this setup? I'm trying to do some small-time production work and curious what I might expect with this design.
Hi! Did your OneFinity X-35 support Fusion 360?
Hey Adrian, yes Fusion360 is compatible with the OneFinity X-35. They have a post processor specifically for the OneFinity so you can produce g-code for your X-35 machine. They offer a free version for hobbyists if you want to give it a shot.
Would this be a good CNC for a beginner? Would you recommend this or the Shapeoko 5 Pro for a beginner? Thank you.
They are both good CNCs for entry-level and hobbyist woodworkers. I think you'll find the real learning curve is associated with the CNC software (e.g. designing and tool paths) moreso than the CNC machine itself. I personally prefer OneFinity and found them to be very helpful from a customer service standpoint.
Where do you buy untreated 4x4s? My big box store only has treated ones.
My local big box store carries them. However, only the orange brand carries it not the blue brand. You may try calling around to some other stores nearby to see if they have them in stock.
I am getting this same machine. Do you have plans available for your table design? Really like how you thought out all the wiring issues. Thank you
Hi I see your ordering the same ,I'm goin to aswell just to ask what cnc bits would you consider purchasing, thanks martyn
@@pi3ladbd417 going to use some inexpensive bits at first to practice with until I get the hang of the machine
Cool might do the same. thanks mate
Hey Bob, I don’t have plans available, but I included all of the dimensions in the video if you’re looking to build something similar. Good luck!
I have not decided what to buy yet and I am subscribing to many of the channels on this unit. Can you tell me if there is an alternative to the touch screen? I have sight issues and I'm not at all impressed with this controller overall. I do not mind at all connecting a computer to a separate controller. Thanks! New sub BTW.
Can be replaced with no display screen controller, called DSP controller
Wonderful video! Any chance you'd considering selling the Sketchup files or better yet PDF files? I'm a disabled woodworker and I love to have a table built like yours.
Hey David, shoot me an email. I can work with you.
Where do you get your wood for your cutting boards?
I have found a local hardwood supplier that makes a business of collecting hardwoods from rural lumber mills in neighboring states and then selling them to local woodworkers. If you're looking to buy something in your area I would recommend looking at facebook market place for some local deals/dealers and search "hardwood dealers" in your area to see if any physical stores around you sell them.
Thanks
What kind of wood did u use for the table ?
I used simple pine for the table base, birch plywood for the table top, and MDF for the spoilboard.
Hey Mark, since you have a new table, would you consider selling your old enclosure?
Hey Will, interesting that you ask. I actually sold my old CNC and encolsure a few days ago. It was gone within a few hours of me listing it.
@@EigenDesigns ok well thanks anyway! I have the Onefinity Woodworker X-50. I think I’m going to build an enclosure like yours for it. Take care!
You may want to consider raising the cnc ( by placing full length boards under the cnc legs) the same thickness as your spoil board and/or spoil board plus work board. In this way, you gain either .750 or 1.5 in Z respectably. Thank you, very informative video.
That’s a GREAT suggestion! Thank ya for sharing. (I’m just starting this journey, and trying to absorb as much as I can)
