    What about "a winter's morning" for the name of the white Dahlia.

    • @alisonbwise
      @alisonbwise 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Maybe shorten it to Winter Morning? Or maybe First Frost?

    Hi Danielle! That is Salvia Mystic Spires. I have been a greenhouse and garden center manager for 30 years. I love it and planted a dozen in my mixed beds. What a beauty! Sometimes my other annual salvia (Victoria Blue) comes back, so I'm leaving it in to see if it makes a curtain call.

    i grew two anemone dahlias last year that both had very skinny stems, and the stems went all bendy too ...not fussed..regrowing them this year to see if they do better ( I am a novice tho ) but if not then won't grow them again. Those dahlias u picked ..so gorgeous . Someone on GA just said her Cornel Brons survived the frost perfectly okay !

    My Anemone Lifestyle were amazing performers in the garden. Great stem strength, but not overly thick. Mine were much larger than the ones you showed and the colors gave it an illuminated appearance. Stems only lasted 4-6 days in the vase for me.

    I also got cucumber beetles on my seed dahlias last year, but they didn't do too much damage if you catch them early enough. Love Myrtle's Folly, what beautiful form and color. Glad you got such a wonderful collection of blooms before the frost. What a great find with the bumblebee with a young one! Always love to see Grace, she is just so cute.

    I love your autumn garden, Danielle! Pretty sure that variety is Salvia farinacea(Victoria). It amazes me every time I sow these beauties that just one little tiny seed could flourish into something so glorious.

    Hi, I think it's a Victory Blue salvia. I saw the plants at a local garden center last year and fell in love with them. I found the seeds at Botanical interests and grew them from seed this year. I had good germination and they have been flowering like crazy. I am drying the flower stalks and they seem to retain their color well.

Also, it’s been almost all about drying flowers for me this season so it’s fun to see what you’re drying. I dried that same salvia but I’m not sure of the name either? And of course Grace is adorable!

  • @lauras6312

    I think the salvia is “blue victory”. I grew it from seed this year and got the seeds from botanical interests. I grew the lifestyle dahlia this year too. Same experience. However, it was one of my most prolific bloomers and the tuber clump was massive! (zone 4b Minnesota 😊)

    I'm all too familiar with the cuc beetle. In 20 years of gardening, I've never seen so many. I used the organza bags but they crawled up the closure whole. Now that I have pulled the dahlias, I have them all over the remaining roses. Maybe I will skip flower planting next year, I don't know what else to do. 🤷😩

      I'm finding it's HARD to find dahlia seeds! So far, I've ordered from Swallowtail Seeds--one variety is called Double Extreme (18-24 in tall with 4-inch blooms) and a mix of Giant Hybrids that contain a variety of singles, semi-doubles, and doubles. I also bought a couple of tubers from Longfield Gardens. I'm going to try again to store them. I'm a zinnia lover, but I want to add some dahlias into my mixed borders too.
