I believe that Dunhill is slightly better than Peterson...at least everyone says so...I have always heard of this tobacco as unsurpassable, when it was Dunhill, this Peterson is very good but not exceptional...when you try it let me know what do you think please...☺
Another fine day with the company of briar broom! It’ll be a sad day if Mac Barren go as they are one of my favourites and we as pipe smokers should try and make a stand against the possibility of them closing down, it’ll be another nail in the coffin for us. HU did away with the only tobacco I really enjoyed which was the Tillerman which left me with the Dockworker which is Ok but no where as good as the Tillerman in my opinion. Great thoughts on the tobacco sounds an easy going tobacco. I can only imagine the stress that Christmas brings for a parent, it can’t be easy as each day gets closer to the big day. Hope you manage to get all sorted then you can sit back with a favourite blend and relax and maybe with a stiff drink! Have a great Sunday

As lve said before, I enjoy Virginia's very much, though I do go on a burley kick once in awhile. I haven't tried this blend, but hopefully some day. Here prices are getting more and more prohibitive so I get what I can that's budget friendly. One of my favorite cigars chocolate flavored...2 birds with one stone 😂. Enjoy

It’s kinda worrisome about all the tobacco mergers and acquisitions. Certainly not in the interest of the consumer. I had enjoyed a tin of this when made by Dunhill, very tasty, have not had this blend in a long time, thanks for bringing it to my attention again. Happy Sunday to you. I do like flake or coin cut tobaccos. The experience of smoking them reminds me of gongfu tea. The flavor of the tea changes as you consume it that way. I find that the flake tobacco changes in little ways as I enjoy it. So it is not one flavor but many as it is consumed. Good luck with the Christmas shopping!

Cornell and Diel have announced a collaboration wih Toacano and have at least three new blends with Toscano featured in a blend with the usual other tobaccos. That sounds exciting for Toscano lovers. Get out there and go shopping! LOL
I've not had that one. I had wanted to try the dark flake but never got around to it. The STG thing is a bit upsetting. My favorite Mac Baren tobacco is HH Rustica. I smoke it daily. There is no other blend i have found like it. Always good to see you

Mac Baren tobacco is still available. We won't see changes from the STG buyout for quite some time. So stock up. Even after the factories (Macbaren in Europe, Sutliff in USA) close the warehouses will still have an abundance on reserve. So you better not pout, you better not cry, you better not shout, Im tellin you why, you need to grab all the Mac Baren's you can. We still have time. It's also worth noting that STG makes Peterson's tobacco...
Thanks again for the video! (Looking forward to seeing the other Santambrogio pipes!) Yes - sad news with MacBaren/Sutcliff. Just discovered a few MacBaren blends this year, but I guess I'm probably not going to go too far with those. Still some other smaller producers that produce fine "pure" tobacco - we need to encourage them! Peterson Flake? I just got a tin last year and I have to admit that I was a bit underwhelmed, (as with Nightcap & Elizabethan). It's an ok smoke, but there are much better Virginia flakes out there. And you're right, it's missing that citrus taste, that I love as well. I think I would take Orlik first or, with a few more dollars, Capstan Blue, and not to forget - any of the Fribourg & Treyer. Have a nice quiet evening and enjoy the smoke!
The problem is that small blenders get their tobaccoes from large ones like MacBaren...also many small ones gave up due to hilarious regulations...so only the big ones survive amd they can dictate the prices and quality....

It's an easy going smoke, I do however much prefer their Dark Flake that has the addition of some Perique, it enhances the Virginia's and provides a more flavoursome smoke... When STG purchased the rights to every Dunhill blend they originally released the 7 most popular blends under the Peterson brand, then a few years later added a further 2 more of the old Dunhill blends. Sure there are a few more of the old Dunhill blends I would like to see, Durbar as an example, but there has to be enough demand for them to justify adding more blends, me wanting to buy a couple of tins simply isn't enough, maybe down the road more of the old Dunhill blends will be released... Quite often companies make too many blends, many are very similar to each other, some I can argue are literally identical give it take a single strand of leaf, there are really only so many variants that are truly distinguishable, it is called marketing, releasing a new blend that isn't much different than another, aside from the tin art and name. I suspect STG will streamline their offerings, they are there to make money and have purchased Mac Baren who recently purchased Sutliff to add to their portfolio of product offerings to make money, if there is enough demand for a blend and it is profitable they will make it, it is that simple. Sometimes people complain that this blend or that blend has been discontinued, when in reality they only ever bought a few tins of it in all the years when it was available 🤦😂✌️
What you say, wise Stoney, is a sacrosanct truth...and it is not as destructive as the opinion of many...about the Durbar...I was about to buy it when a tobacconist advised me against it because she considered it too strong for me... Io sono messo come te, adoro i tabacchi naturali pur non disegnando alcuni aromatizzati, però ecco, a proposito di MacBaren mi sento male al solo pensiero che la loro serie HH possa scomparire! Proprio in questo momento sto fumando l'old dark fired e sarebbe un delitto eliminare un tabacco simile dalla produzione... Mac barren sold out. They made bad investments and had to sell. Still sucks, I just started smoking a pipe a couple months ago and have gravitated twords Mac barren. Such is the world .

Mac Baren tobacco is still available. We won't see changes from the STG buyout for quite some time. So stock up. Even after the factories (Macbaren in Europe, Sutliff in USA) close the warehouses will still have an abundance on reserve. So you better not pout, you better not cry, you better not shout, Im tellin you why, you need to grab all the Mac Baren's you can. We still have time. It's also worth noting that STG makes Peterson's tobacco...

Thanks again for the video! (Looking forward to seeing the other Santambrogio pipes!) Yes - sad news with MacBaren/Sutcliff. Just discovered a few MacBaren blends this year, but I guess I'm probably not going to go too far with those. Still some other smaller producers that produce fine "pure" tobacco - we need to encourage them! Peterson Flake? I just got a tin last year and I have to admit that I was a bit underwhelmed, (as with Nightcap & Elizabethan). It's an ok smoke, but there are much better Virginia flakes out there. And you're right, it's missing that citrus taste, that I love as well. I think I would take Orlik first or, with a few more dollars, Capstan Blue, and not to forget - any of the Fribourg & Treyer. Have a nice quiet evening and enjoy the smoke!
The problem is that small blenders get their tobaccoes from large ones like MacBaren...also many small ones gave up due to hilarious regulations...so only the big ones survive amd they can dictate the prices and quality....
@@BrutalEnough Yes - I even noticed last night that Savinelli tobaccos & Newminster will both be potentially affected. That was a surprise - I really like the Doblone d'Oro - maybe it's over. And I heard even Peterson tobaccos are going to be gone. But so many rumours at this time.

It's an easy going smoke, I do however much prefer their Dark Flake that has the addition of some Perique, it enhances the Virginia's and provides a more flavoursome smoke... When STG purchased the rights to every Dunhill blend they originally released the 7 most popular blends under the Peterson brand, then a few years later added a further 2 more of the old Dunhill blends. Sure there are a few more of the old Dunhill blends I would like to see, Durbar as an example, but there has to be enough demand for them to justify adding more blends, me wanting to buy a couple of tins simply isn't enough, maybe down the road more of the old Dunhill blends will be released... Quite often companies make too many blends, many are very similar to each other, some I can argue are literally identical give it take a single strand of leaf, there are really only so many variants that are truly distinguishable, it is called marketing, releasing a new blend that isn't much different than another, aside from the tin art and name. I suspect STG will streamline their offerings, they are there to make money and have purchased Mac Baren who recently purchased Sutliff to add to their portfolio of product offerings to make money, if there is enough demand for a blend and it is profitable they will make it, it is that simple. Sometimes people complain that this blend or that blend has been discontinued, when in reality they only ever bought a few tins of it in all the years when it was available 🤦😂✌️
What you say, wise Stoney, is a sacrosanct truth...and it is not as destructive as the opinion of many...about the Durbar...I was about to buy it when a tobacconist advised me against it because she considered it too strong for me... I didn't take it and after a short time it disappeared...here's my experience with the Durbar...never listen to tobacconists 🤣🤣🤣

La notizia che SCG chiuderà Sutliff e prenderà pure MacBaren è veramente ma veramente pessima! Spero vivamente che Cornell & Diehl metta una "pezza" a questo scempio e che almeno salvi i tabacchi del Seattle Pipa Club. Io sono messo come te, adoro i tabacchi naturali pur non disegnando alcuni aromatizzati, però ecco, a proposito di MacBaren mi sento male al solo pensiero che la loro serie HH possa scomparire! Proprio in questo momento sto fumando l'old dark fired e sarebbe un delitto eliminare un tabacco simile dalla produzione...
Spero sempre in qualcuno che possa porre rimedio o comunque limitare i danni di questo scempio!

Mac barren sold out. They made bad investments and had to sell. Still sucks, I just started smoking a pipe a couple months ago and have gravitated twords Mac barren. Such is the world .
