"The Sweet Science" at MSG was easily the largest audience for any klezmer performance in the entire history of the genre. Vulfpeck and Winograd have expanded the scope of klezmer for generations.
@@emorycarroll We need all the genres! Woody already gave us Christmas Jazz Vulf, now Klezmer Vulf. After that... Mark Lettieri and the Fearless Flyers doing Metal Vulf?
Came here looking for a Klezmer version of Dean Town, just got very much klezmerfunkierized. Was disappointed. Went to bed crying. Had to watch MSG again. Jumped out of bed being funked so hard. Went woodchopping and streetfunking and got caught by Yiddish pirates.
My goodness visualizers have come so far. I remember not long ago when Bach was visualized as simple dots and lines. Technology these days is astounding.

lol I know what you mean. Although even though what Jack does in lives gigs is mostly stripped back, as a drummer and keyboardist myself, keeping such a tight, solid groove the way he does, which such feel is harder than it looks.
I love how it looks like it might be a vintage recording until you see the plastic water bottle beside the Adidas kicks on the pianist. And I knew Jack could drum but had no idea he could shred like that! Well done! Gonna save up for the vinyl for sure.
That's Socalled?! :O I saw a documentary about him at the Glasgow Film Festival years ago and every so often I kick myself for remembering him but blanking on his name!
Shoutout to the guy who went to this live recording thinking it was a Vulfpeck concert! I wanted to say that when this was first posted, but I never got to do it.

Looking forward to a Cory Wong cover of one of these!
Vulfpeck was just a long game for Jack to have the top selling Klezmer vinyl record of 2022.
I kinda hope so. Worth it, but I'll miss Vulfpeck.
Top selling EVER!
"The Sweet Science" at MSG was easily the largest audience for any klezmer performance in the entire history of the genre. Vulfpeck and Winograd have expanded the scope of klezmer for generations.
He's gonna release it on shellac to make sure it's a top selling record in a category of its own
@@xavierhuc2125 are there even any shellac record manufacturers left in the world?
Damn that drummers pretty good he should start a four piece mostly instrumental funk band
Can we also appreciate the chadly respiratory stamina of the Reed player.
definitely! Their songs could have funky titles like Dean Town, Back Pocket or Animal Spirits!
@@plusgel5442 I imagine it being fairly low in volume too

Seems like the kind of band that could get Tony Robbins results at TJ Maxx prices
finally, something I can listen to at regular volume
I so wish I'd thought of this comment.
I can’t wait until Vulfpeck covers Yiddishe Pirat
Fearless Flyers cover is gonna slap
If you think about it, nobody’s ever seen vulf and Yiddishe pirat in the same room
It's all fun and games until Cory does his own spin on these songs with a horn arrangement
I wanna see Michael Nelson make a sax block out of this shit.
Klezmer is the only music genre that literally laughs and cries. And at the same time.

I've especially enjoyed the song with clarinet solo
truly a glorious day to be a vulf and klezmer fan
i can't believe there was more than a minyan for this but here we are!
This is the most dancing I’ve ever seen at a Vulf concert.
Jack has been holding back, suppressing his instincts to shred on drums for 11 years. It was worth the wait!
He's done some pretty cool solos on 3 on E and Funky Duck.
I’m confused but I’m here for it
i love that the audience gets up and dances from the very beginning
they all know just what to do, it's great
Gotta love jack and his dad just jammin on stage
Jack's key to success: always bring a parent on stage
Jack's supportive parents: the real mvps
I love that Jack put the warbly Vulf compressor sound on the piano on basically this whole album. Also I love this album.
I’d bet my gefilte fish sandwich that Vulf compressor is on the 2-bus as well 🤘🏻

On the Fender shofar... Mushy Krongold! 📯📯📯
This is my introduction to Klezmer. It’s quite tasty. Happy new year

I'm a bit sad Mushy Krongold didn't show up! Make sure he sees this precious visualization.
This is finally scratching the itch I had after the opening number at MSG! THANK YOU!
We did it guys, we made this the best selling Klezmer record of all time!
My phone notification is the Vulf coda. What a way to be notified that this was released!

I can't possibly be the only one who noticed that Jack's playing on an egg-shaped bass drum. Where does one even find something like that?
For example the Vox Telstar drumkit :)
@@fabianvanderelst9643 Interesting!
NGL, I'm only here because I'm running out of Jack Stratton content to watch. But I'm glad I found this haha.
the amount of editing and timeline displacement is actually so great, one of the many reasons I return to this video and watch the whole damn thing.
what do you mean?
Been a fan of Socalled (Josh) since first hearing him with Krakauer and Wesley with the Abraham, Inc. collab. This is magical.

Finally something i can really schvitz to!
Michael sounds in absolute top form, the Tarras of our generation.

Wait...is Jack's bean shaped bass drum DIY, or a commissioned work destined for the museum of modern art?
It's a Trixon kick. The idea is that you get different tones depending on where the beater is positioned. I wanna say they were popular in the 50s-60s

Klezmer. Let's goooooo!!!!!
fun fact for anybody else wondering. Jack's kick drum (and whole kit, actually) is most likely a Vox Telstar or some sort of vintage Trixon.
Telstar. They reissued them not long ago, but I would like to see a reissue of the clyde stubblefield vox kit

It's so nice of Vulf to borrow drumset and YT channel to promote Yiddishe Pirat. You don't see that too often
