Imo the best way to prevented being countered with leapers is to run 2 goldrin or a goldrin and a leroy or a goldrin and an extra baron or something like that. That helps a lot with the taunt lady. Blaster can be avoided if you just stat up your baron and bird a bit.
Not saying you should have gone leapers or encouraging anyone to. I barely play leapers anymore because of inconsistency as well, I was just mentioning how I handle it when I do.

Maybe evolve spell tries to spawn 6 minions but blocks the spawning of some when you're not level 6 with the same full board mechanic. Just speculating though, someone could see if it would give +10 attack on lvl 4 for example to confirm if that's the reason.

for some reason it counts this spell as a 8th unit on the warband and then procs

when you have mug its not bad to eat a catacomb crasher or something. With baron its +35 attack (and another +14/14 from golden crasher) on your whole board for very little money.

@@evgenykondrat1987 Well, in the lobby Dog is playing, no elems, no murlocs, it's fine to run 2 crashers and a whitemane. There were murlocs in my lobby, so I dropped one crasher for a demon (in my case, it was lightfang because I got the menagerie trinket). Whitemane for a cultist. And abom for a loc prince. EACH BUFF FROM CRASHER gave an extra +3/+2. it was nuts at the end.
