How to Remove MK4 SMOG System AKA SAI Delete DIY

  • this is the eziest DIY you can do that will actually help Diagnose your car. This DIY eliminates all the headache for looking for boost and vacuum leaks.
    To get the Resistor kit order from
    www.urotuning.com
    I also suggest to order the blockoff plate from them as well or make one from sheet metal which cost a lot less.
    I also suggest to research your local and state laws for modifying your SMOG system.
    Basic hand tools and allen wrenches are needed for this JOB.

    This is the link to the kit you will still need to buy a block off plate for the egr/combi valve or make one.

    @PincheAls Garage - Ive done all of what you guys done on this video. I have a couple of questions. The first vacuum valve from the SMOG filter thingy, not the manifold side, the one next to the coolant reservoir ... u dont seem to mention if it needs to be capped off? or left alone with no pipe on it now? secondly ... i yanked the brake assist pipe at the rubber/plastic valve near the bulkhead, instead of cutting it like you said. there was a loud pssssss .... can i just reconnect it as if nothing happened lol!

    • @PincheALsGarage

      Most places that tune will need to reflash your ECU

    • @PincheALsGarage
      @PincheALsGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So your issue might be that you might lose your APR tune or they wont do it without saving the tune.... In all honesty i dont know. Never have had this issue. I would personally suggest a new tune with all the features you want but get a new ECU that way you dont lose your tune. If you dont like the new tune go back to your old one. Simple or you do like it you can sell your APR tune make some $$$ back.

    That cluster of hoses that goes down to the engine below the intake manifold, what did you do with the open lines into the engine.

    • @emotionalintelligence776
      @emotionalintelligence776 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The smallest tap under your manifold is for your FPR and or Boost gauge, you should definitely have a boost gauge. The tap next to that is for your DV. The bigger tap previously used for your Brake booster is capped off. And the last tap at the end of the manifold you would use to run a new single line for your Brake booster IIRC. All vacuum hoses are either replaced, removed, and when necessary unused ports are capped off. Get a tune that deletes this stuff and you are ready to go.

  • @alejandrodibenedetto66

    The N249 with no signal from the ECU communicates the manifold vacumm to the DV, and when the N249 receives signal from the ECU it communicates the reservoir of vacumm to the DV.
    Therefore the presence of the N249 I consider is necessary to have a better reaction in the engine to be able to activate the DV even when there is still boost in the manifold, therefore the overpressure does not force the opening of the N75 and the turbo does not fall from Rpm giving better reaction.
    As a conclusion I think removing the N249 engine would have less reaction and unnecessary wear on the turbo
    The only thing I see as positive when removing the n249 is less vacuum lines, better appearance

Basically what I've gathered is have coolant on standby and buy some 1/2 inch tubing for the brake booster, anything else I'm missing before I go and start ripping vacuum lines out of my engine? Also, how well does it run without a tune? As of right now my SAI pump is bad so it misfires under heavy load. Would this be an improvement?

    Hey man, thanks for the video it's a big help. I've got a kinda stupid question though. My stage 2 tune has sai and such deleted already. Will I still need to use the resistors or does having it tuned out take care of that? Thanks!

    Hey man I know it’s a old video but im doing this delete once the kit comes in. Right now the previous owner ran a line from the fpr to a t connector. Then ran a line from the nipple you put the dv hose on to the t connector. And then a hose going to the boost gauge. If I’m running the dv line to the end nipple on the intake manifold where would I put the line for the fpr ? And would I just have to Put a T connector in between the line for the FPR and intake manifold to run the boost gauge ? (Guy I got the car from is a complete idiot so I’m going over all the “work” he’s done to it and getting everything right slowly but surely. Making it easier to find a leak I’m having to where I’m only peaking15lbs instead of 22

    • @PincheALsGarage
      @PincheALsGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      from the charge pipe its 3/4 to 1"
      to the intake is 3/4"
      the vacuum line to the manifold is 10mm

    Hey man love the video! What size is that hose for the brake booster? Also where can I buy the blanking plate for the combi valve? Your removal shows 3 holes and all I can find is SAI blanking plates with 2 holes. I have an AGU engine and they have no SAI so I'm a bit confused. Happy to donate to your channel once I sort this also I see you mention this in a recent video 🤙🏻

    • @PincheALsGarage
      @PincheALsGarage  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Grant Mac Dee you only need to 2 holes to cover it.
      5/8 i think is the hose size youll nseed. just in case just take a piece of the one you removed to size it.

    • @GMDOnline
      @GMDOnline 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you get the opportunity to do a PCV simplification video on an AGU as the setup is pretty different. We have vacuum pipes also on the active charcoal filter which is in front of the coolant header tank. Also on the PCV simplification its the perfect chance to install a catch can and I would love to see your way around it. There are no guides online for AGU. I'm assuming I dont have the evap system if I dont have SAI either which then in turn makes this video a bit obsolete for me.

      correct the AGU motor is very uncommon so it will be very difficult for me to make one for you since i yet to see one or work on one i a long time. If you dont care for SMOG the car it will be very ez to bypass all the hoses since your just removing them. The only issue i would see if there is a coolant line or a sensor that is needed for the car to run correctly then you'll need to TUNE it out of the car for it to run correctly.
