    Hey everyone! I made 2 mistakes in this video, so the 15-45 does have OIS, there are just no switches for it so you have to turn it on in the menu and the 18-55 is not weather sealed. I sincerely apologize for these mistakes! Still learning! Thank you!

      @@jordanwilliams1546 Im still struggling between the 15-45mm lens or the 18-55mm lens. The only downside i see for the 18-55mm lens is the size is so much bigger, and I plan to use this mainly for travel photography. That plus it costs about $500 more for the 18-55mm package compared to the 15-45mm lens one.... I plan to buy the Fuji X-T30 II, and the 15-45mm lens is basically free

    Thank you for the video, I agree about the 18-55, just got it the other day! - Now the 2 lenses I generally travel with on my X-S10 is the 18-55 and the Samyang 12mm when I want wide! - I am thinking to sell my 16-80 f4, there's just not enough background separation at f4 and it's much bigger/heavier. I also bought the 27mm f2.8 pancake lens when I want to travel light :) - also for studio talking head video can't beat the Viltron 23mm and 33mm F1.4, but I don't usually travel with those.

    Both very good lenses. I have had the 18-55 and I still have the 15-45 plus a 16-80F4. The 15-45 lives on my XE3 pretty much all the time. It makes for such a fun camera. I sold the 18-55 as it is much bigger than the 15-45, size matters. The bigger 16-80 I use on an XT4 for work.

    • @michaeld5888
      @michaeld5888 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The 15-45mm is such a neat little package and makes mirrorless even on aps-c a compact package. I still have the 16-80mm I bought as a kit with a X-S10 but the weight and size just make it seem unwieldy and a burden. For just fun and recording things around the 15-45mm does fine. I enjoy Fuji for its film sims and colours but hang on to an EM10 II with the 30mm macro as the only Fuji lens that is actually macro 1:1 is a stonking price.

    I purchased a used X-T2 that came with the battery grip and the 15-45 lens. I thought I would enjoy the motorized movement of it, but I find that it can be a bit sluggish and I missed some opportunities because I couldn't zoom fast enough. Looking to get either a prime or the 18-55. I also feel like many of my images are much darker than they appear in my view finder, and I can only hope that it's the lens. New to the camera and newish to photography, but so far I'm loving the camera.

    I'd say the compact size of the 15-45 is a huge advantage too though. I actually had it some years ago and I paired it with an X-Pro2 of all things. That might sound weird, but the thing is that I'm used to those compact f2 primes, and almost all the other zoom lenses just feel large and unwieldy to me, while that one feels so lightweight!

    Very useful. Quick tip…there isn’t actually a single video on TH-cam that compares these two lenses AND the 16-80 version. So maybe revisit and include that one as well; as those are the 3 lens options in the UK when you first buy the camera. I was struck by the quality of the 15-45 and the size. I think the other one may be too big to get started with; as I’m just moving from my smartphone to my first proper mirrorless camera. looking at the X-S10; but somewhat fearful they are about to bring out a new version, as this came out a year ago? Do you think an X-S11 is in the offing? I don’t want to spend out a ton of cash only for a new one to appear a month later.

    Nice review of the 15-45 and 18-55. I own the 15-45, primarily for the extra wide 15mm. Both have their place, but there is a noticeable composition difference between 15 and 18 that I prefer. It's the main reason I bought the 15-45, as well as its incredibly low price. The 15-45 has OIS, but probably not to the extent as the 18-55. If there is a weakness of the 15-45, the sharpness declines after 28mm. It's still very usable between 28+ and 45. There is some softness in the corners at all focal lengths but that's not a concern for most photos. And, I wish it had an aperture ring. But the lens shines during daylight hours, and travel. One doesn't have to use the imprecise power zoom. Changing the AF+MF to Off in the menu allows the manual focus ring to adjust the zoom. Overall, I really like this lens. It's small, light, very sharp between 15-28+ and useable above. It's my go to travel lens, along with my 35 1.4 for low light, bokeh and overall great performance.

    Was hoping for a comparison indoor shot, where the camera is about 1.5-2 Arm Lengths away from the Subject in a "low" light environment. I am looking for camera and lens with Indoor recordings, but while most people like Bokeh, I don't. So I am looking for something with a wide angle, but a relatively High F (Let's just say that I am not a fan of the F1.8 of my Sony ZV1, where more F makes the picture too dark, or needs ISO beyond 800 which adds too much grain). So a comparison of both cameras at like F 3.5-4.0 would have been cool.

      That's the exact same kit I have and I absolutely love it. The 18-55 is fairly wide with great reach and a decent aperture of 2.8-4 for good background separation. The 23f2 is an amazing lens for street photography as well as a great broll lens cause of it's much wider aperture. Autofocus works well with both lenses and the X-S10 is just a fantastic hybrid. In Canada, there's no option for the fuji x-s10 with a 15-45mm kit lens... it's either 18-55mm or 16-80mm. Which one do you think is best for video?

    • @BiancaMikaehla

      Although I never got my hands on the 16-80, it does seem a lot more versatile for video. 🙂

      I have every lens you can think of Fujifilm. I shoot only Fujifilm. Between both lens mentioned here, for video, the XF 18-55mm is way better. The autofocus works way better than the XF 16-80mm. Personally, I carry one lens only on my street camera and that is the XF 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6. Why? Because of the extra range plus it is weather sealed, and has OIS. It is also heavier which means that heavier yields better image stability. Hope this helps.

  • @stefandesu

    Thanks for your great video! Could you elaborate on the noise the 15-45 makes while zooming? Does it mean that the lens uses a motor to zoom the lens instead of a proper zoom ring? This might be a stupid question, I've pretty much only been shooting on iPhone/GoPro in the past few years. 😅
    Ideally I'd like to have a 15-45 with a bigger aperture (and "normal" zoom), but that doesn't seem to exist. There's the XF 16-55mm f2.8, but that lens costs as much as the camera body. 🙈

    • @BiancaMikaehla
      @BiancaMikaehla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there! Sorry I'm getting to you so late. First off, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!! The noise the 15-45 makes is very reminiscent of older digital cameras. It has a proper zoom ring attached and you can control the motors with that. The 15-45 is a fantastic lens even with a 3.5-5.6 aperture. And yes, finding a zoom to that wide with a wide aperture is quite hard. If you're on a budget maybe consider getting the 15-45 as a zoom and a samyang 12mm F2 prime?

    • @stefandesu
      @stefandesu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BiancaMikaehla No worries, thanks for your reply! I actually did a lot of research in the meantime and I've kinda come full circle. Maybe the 15-45 is actually a good lens for me, especially in the beginning because it's my first proper camera in a while. The concept of an electric zoom in an external lens still sounds weird to me, but I don't think it's a deal-breaker. I probably don't even need a second lens because I mostly want to use it for video and vlogs. Now I only have to consider if I REALLY should buy a camera or if I should rather continue using my existing equipment for now. 😂 Thanks again, Bianca!

    If you'd watch 18-55mm lens disassembling, you'd be surprised to discover that inside aluminum shell everything that holds glass is plastic. But, if you believe that anodized aluminum look and extra weight would make you a better photographer, go for it.

    Both lens has ibis. Did you use gimbal too? Such a smooth consistent motion flow in video. How did you get it? I must appreciate your video-taking skill. I like the 15 wide end a lot as reflected in your video. If the video is taken at fixed zoom, then sound is avoided of digital zoom and 15-45 seems a better bet. Alas I cannot find the lens anywhere. Perhaps it is discontinued by Fujifilm.
