I hope this becomes a reality. At a minimum of $20 M/mile for track upgrades and infrastructure improvements the project would cost $6 B. A long section of the alignment would need to be Class 7 125-135 mph track paired with Class 6 110 mph track and a minimum of Class 4 79 mph track.
The amount of necessary subsidized annual operating deficit will be interesting to find out if and when there is a 'study'. The only feasible solution would be a Brightline-type service averaging 80 mph. Otherwise too slow is a no go. A projected service timeframe of five years may mean 10-12 years.

Maintenance isn’t as much as an issue. The real issue is CSX and Norfolk Southern, And i guess Larry and the other NIMBYs. But other than that, this is the service we NEED, and im hyped
