TH-cam is a very powerful tool to build a personal brand, started over a year ago, 100+ videos later and lots of effort and about to hit 5k subs. Honestly, the sub count is not as important as whether you enjoy the process and journey.

Building a personal brand is definitely overwhelming! Especially when just beginning on TH-cam because the goal is to stand out and be seen, but also be original and remain true to our own style.
yea it can be hard, but the one thing that i have noticed is that because i first started out on youtube it has helped me stand out in my community on IG. most of my community members do not use that much video when it comes to their brand, but i am able to use the skills i learned from youtube and stand out :)

I’m a youth fitness expert and have always HATED the internet with a burning passion simply because it has been a source for so many of my students’ emotion/physical health issues but I’ve realized that to best duplicate my efforts, extend my arms out to touch more students, I need to be online working with the people who influence these kids everyday. I do everything by myself on TH-cam! From filming to editing to brainstorming, to thumbnails and uploading!! But once I really started focusing on my channel and being active on TH-cam (Interacting more with my audience) my channel started to grow!!

As soon as I station in another city, my co-founder withdraws all the funds from our company, so I'm working on getting back on my feet (AKA one-woman show) in a new city.
I kept getting suggestions that I had to be on youtube, IG, Pinterest, podcast, etc. I'm a mom of two, plus a researcher, a student, an educator, and a business owner, it's a lot.
Last month I published a bite-size article and turned out getting tons of compliment, so now I know I can stick with my writing and focus on this platform first (even though I thought no one actually reads nowadays).

Thanks Sunny! Getting some great tips from you. Around 25k in instagram and making a big push there. Somehow initiated the algorithm and took a big growth spurt at end of 2018 and now am trying to get that algorithm going again.

It was super hard to take a break but I love building content for you tube and my goal is to do 1-2 videos a week for March. You can't grow every platform, at the same time. That's true. I know because I tried it. I think you can be on most of the main social media platforms, without specifcally trying to grow them all, and be super active everywhere.
I love blogging, personally. But I actually love watching You Tube, perhaps slightly more than reading blog posts. I do both, though. I guess I'm okay with being a little contradictory.
I'm trying to focus on my novel and other writing projects more this year, and need to balance everything with health challenges. Overall, it's not easy, but getting there, in many ways - not so much, in others.

Now I’m wondering if I should’ve just stuck to what I had but I really wanted to rebrand. I am still not sure if I want you tube to be my personal name brand yet bc my channel is geared toward ladies finding their purpose:). The "how to brand" issue isn't any easy one. I call my blog Paula Writes, and have the domain: paulathewriter.com. I literally blogged with the WordPress suffix for over a year, partly because of lack of funds, and partly because I dithered about how to upgrade. Most people were advising to go self-hosted, but I'm not technical, so I ended up going with upgrading WordPress.com. I know it's possible to change courses later. And I needed to have a domain, so that my posts would be viewed as credible. The (Name) Writes blog title is slightly cliche, but also does say what I do, and is broad enough to allow me to alter my precise direction. I was reluctant to use my last name in my domain name, as people often can't spell (or pronounce) it. Sunny may relate to that. 😃
Blogging and You Tube can be complementary, but it's so much better to do one well. I find Pinterest excellent, for generating blog traffic, and it can work for You Tube too, from what I have heard. 😃💝

Hey, thanks for this. I'm a solo bag maker. I do everything from sewing the bags to marketing and sales. It works because on my preferred platform, fb, people know it's me writing about what I am making today or what I made yesterday. My clients get a real kick out of coming into the studio for a private consultation with me, one-on-one. Hmmm, I need to promote that more now that I think about it! BUT it's tiring being a one-woman gig and recently I have felt overwhelmed. It's great seeing vids like this to help me get my head back in the game. So thank you Sunny, I'm glad you're around :)

Sunny, I thank you for this. I am a TH-cam lover. I can't stop thinking about TH-cam. I have tried others because for one, the company I am with pushes that we advertise the company on them. I do not really like blasting about the company on any site at all. I did look those platforms up but right now, I am going back to what my heart tells me to do and concentrate on one.

As someone who is currently going through building a personal brand solo - I can 100% vouch for focusing on one thing. For me, that was LinkedIn. I tried to get on a bunch of stuff starting out and ultimately, they crumbled. Out of all of them, LinkedIn was the most engaging and I enjoyed it the most. Now that I feel I understand the best way to approach it and have formed that habit, I'm looking to branch into TH-cam.

The way your videos go, the way your emails go (great list, it's all about QUALITY OF INFORMATION, and there is good info), good to study from people who are better than you in a specific sphere.
I make videos in the Amazon FBA sphere, and I try really hard to give out good information and make quality videos (and the stuff I share was actually tested on my own Amazon shop, which makes me show what worked and what not).
I realize that the time of people is very costly, and I want to deliver good information to them, which also saves them efforts and money.
Always happy to see a video from you, gets me on the right track.
I had limited experience in front of video cameras, some commercials on tv and small roles (just literally being a dude who says "hi" somewhere, or just standing and doing nothing). Some experience in front of cameras for photography.
When I started on TH-cam (about 14 videos ago, which makes it 14 weeks, which is just 98 days, I already enjoyed cameras, which helped me just a bit).
But I had to be a beginner again because it's not just being on videos, it's all the SEO, holding audience, metrics. There's a lot behind it.
I LOVE it! Consistency is very important, the first few videos were hard. it was hard to create the habit of posting a video weekly.
I am on 245 people who have subscribed up until now, and freaking 7000+ minutes watched, this kinda blows my mind.
I hope that I'll be able to reach more people and also develop my own skills further.

Love this video. I definitely made the first mistake of trying to grow multiple platforms at once. I love how you encourage us to educate even if we don't feel like experts. I just got into bullet journaling and wanted to share tips on Instagram but the fear of being seen as a newbie held me back.

We started our blog site last year after I quit my 18-year secretarial job with the idea of mentoring disabled people, born or made, through our experiences as a disabled couple while teaching able-bodied people about the life. This year, we've branched out to TH-cam with the same idea. Of course, we're than our disabilities, so we talk about other topics occasionally.
Love the value as always Sunny! 1000% spot on, especially when you talk about niching down. I feel like for you to scale in business, grow a tribe or anything, you need to become the authority figure in something. Excited for the next video!
