Hate isles fans all u want. U have to admit tho, they're are one of the dedicated and passionate NHL fanbases in the US. I myself can attest to this and I was at game 6 of the Pittsburgh series, it was just like this. We're gonna bring that same energy to the new arena this fall, LGI 🔶️🔷️
Yeah gonna miss the tailgating especially. It just felt normal to sit in the parking lot in a lawn chair under the ten while my dad cooked food on the mini grill… can’t believe they won’t let us do that anymore with the huge parking lot they on both sides, though it IS a 10 minute walk from one parking lot and they both lead right onto the lie

Try being an Islander fan in Manhattan in the early 1980s when all your best friends are Ranger fans.
Wasn't long ago i bought 4 $85 tickets for $50 each online on the Blue line where i knew the away team would shoot twice. When we showed up we expected to be 4 of maybe 1000 B's fans at The Coliseum. We had never been there before so we where thrilled when we showed up and seen its like a NFL type tailgate atmosphere outside the arena. We had a amazing time before we even entered the stadium, was shocked that we where apart of a personal estimate of 30-40% of the fans in attendance. Bruins won 6-0 and we basically had the entire arena to ourselves the entire 3rd period. This was about 6-7 yrs ago. That's never happened at any away game I've ever been too besides Miami (Florida Panthers).
I was an Islander fan. In the early 1980s. In MANHATTAN. I even sat in the blue seats at MSG several times. And lived. Barely. (Being a Mets and Knicks fan saved me). I became their fan when i tuned into Channel 9 for the harness racing show and the Islander-Leafs Game 7 quarterfinals was running late. I rooted like hell for them as they were New York and was heartbroken when they lost, but could see they were young and rapidly improving, ruthlessly building that dynasty which I got to see every step of.

I can never be mad at this team after those four Cups. I didn't stop watching because I lost interest in hockey, but simply because nothing would ever top it. Thirty-eight years later, they are still the last team in any major North American sport to have won four consecutive champions. All the teams which just missed have one thing the Islanders do not, however: excuses.

well yea they’re from Long Island which was historically the Jets main market lol so they probably are Jets fans. The Jets used to play in Shea stadium which was in Queens, right next to Nassau county where the Islanders play. Nassau/Suffolk is primarily Mets Jets and Islanders territory as historically those are all the closest proximity wise, though it’s still NY so you get fans of the other NY teams even the West NY teams. They all also historically were the more affordable option compared to their competitor, so on Long Island there’s a pretty big class divide between the fanbases a lot of the time though ofc there is always exceptions. Hence why the islanders fans in the vid kept going on about “blue collar” etc, which in this instance when compared with the rangers is 100% apt Nassau Coliseum was an absolute dump especially compared to MSG. I loved it as a fan as it was our spot, but objectively it was shitty lmao UBS is far better. The neighborhood the Coliseum was in though was very working class historically etc. All of this plays into the type of fans the teams attract lol. It’s Strong Island baby it’s not for everybody but we are having a great time 😎
