They always played these 2 songs back-to-back on radio in 70's.
The Kings of syncopation and improvisation. I NEVER get sick of listening to Zeppelin. My favourites of all time 🔥🔥🔥
A couple of times every year I sit down and listen to the entire Led Zeppelin catalog from beginning to end. It's a remarkable achievement. I wish I'd seen them live.
The closest I ever got to see them live is the movie The Song Remains The Same. Those of you out there that got see them live I am jealous of you.
I saw them 2 nights at MSG IN ‘77. Scalped tix both nights. Cost 15 & 25. I wish I had seen them in 73 but I was 13 & not going to shows yet.
I saw them 5 times. My high school boyfriend was a Zeppelin fanatic. Lucky me.❤❤
Right, Jimmy Page said Zep never performed a song the same way twice. They always left wiggle room for improv. Thanks for your reaction.
One of the greatest one-two punches in rock history. They fit together so well.
Heartbreaker was my favorite of these two. I do like the line “When your conscience hits you knock it back with pills”.
awesome line... Plant was a much more "rowdy/randy" singer/writer back in his youth.
Just remember this song is about 55 years old... hard rock and metal begat here.
for sure man! This song and others by Zeppelin are the true origin of heavy music.
Growing up with Zeppelin, they are just automatically my top five band ever. An incredible amount of songs that are just amazing and so creative and well played.
I grew up w/ Zep too 10 yrs old in '69 when Zeppelin really hit, but I admit, they were my fave for a few years then I strayed, funny thing though, Now I like/love them more than ever.. I've heard others my age say same -like them more now than when we were in our teens.
They always played both songs back to back on the radio, just like We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions. So if you heard one, you heard the other.
Def Leppard's "Bringin' On The Heartbreak/ Switch 625" is the same thing. They usually play those together too
Not to mention Boston's "Foreplay/Long Time".
I always assumed songs like that were actually only 1 song with different styles, and those styles had names.
If it had never been done before, if it was unconventional, Zep led the way. Stopping in the middle of the song for a guitar solo, as in only the guitar, back to the band for more soloing and build up to the stop. No one but Zep. After Zep walked the path, a lot of other bands followed, but there was only ONE Led Zeppelin. Epic.
Doesn't matter which song you like "more". If you don't hear "livin', Lovin" immediately after "Heartbreaker" you feel like you just had a great dinner but, NO DESSERT! . . . . .
Growing up, the local prog station (back when DJs could program their own music) always played these 2 songs together. And every Saturday overnight they did the "Saturday Night Six-Pack", where they played 1 side of 6 different albums. We didn't realize how good we had it...
Zeppelin is GOAT. My desert island band. Hope you guys are listening to entire albums. Too many from Zeppelin but listen to The Rover from Physical Graffiti.
Cannot wait to see their faces...................ch ch ch ..........pow!!!!!!! 😎
Was 12 when this came out- I remember how exciting it was-still on my playlist.
growing up, my musical journey went from Elvis to Strawberrys Fields Forever to Inna Gadda Di Vida to Led Zeppelin, I was blown out of the water by this album
never, ever get enough of Led Zeppelin.
Didn’t know either Zeppelin song but then again I was born in ‘71 with a pops who favored R&B/jazz and a Lite-FM loving mama. Discovered the likes of “Immigrant Song” and “Whole Lotta Love” on my own as a teen in the 80’s. Anyway, appreciate you guys.✌🏽
Really ? Where you been all your life ? You are in your fifties. Just messin ' with ya. Hope you liked the the tunes. Better late than never. Came out only two years before you were born. Zeppelin II with Ramble On ,as well..I'm sure you haven't heard that ,either.
How is that even possible?? You are a year younger than I am. Im assuming that you are trolling. If you actually are being serious, there was a movie made in 1977 called Star Wars that you might want to check out.
@@arwiviv How is that possible? Neither of my parents listened to Led Zeppelin let alone this type of rock. My mama liked softer music like Chicago. My pops was all about Earth Wind & Fire (and not their crossover hits). I loved the radio and flipped from station to station so I was exposed to a little bit of everything. I missed Led Zeppelin but I knew of “Stairway To Heaven” when I was 9 or 10 from my white friends. None of my black friends knew of Led Zeppelin. I discovered “Immigrant Song” first when I was 12-13 but that was bc of a Rolling Stone article. I’m not a fan but learned to appreciate LZ when I worked @ a record store from 1988-1994, largely due to the older employees sharing memories and playing albums. ✌🏽 P.S. Haven’t seen any of the “Star Wars” franchise; never got into sci-fi.
I know how you feel . I grew up in the sticks with country loving parents and didn't hear Zeppelin till 78. Been in love since though.
Im sorry for being a jerk. My parents, both of whom who are in their mid 70's now, have no idea who Zep is either.
I found out about Zep on my own as a teen in the 80's.
I have seen Led Zeppelin 3 times!!!! Amazing!!!! Next...." The Lemon Song" is the next reaction from Led Zeppelin
I remember we had that single. This was the B side of "A whole Lotta Love. That was in the sixties. Those were the days. 🎶🎶🎶🎶👍
Heartbreaker and The Ocean are probably my top 2 Led Zeppelin songs ever!
Heys, Views From The 502, great reaction to the greatest band to ever grace the Earth, Led Zeppelin! Please keep in mind they released 2 separate masterpiece albums in the SAME year: Zeppelin I and Zeppelin II, BOTH in 1969! Now we have the greatest solo performer to grace the Globe with Lucy Thomas, also from England! Must be something in your atmosphere........
I was blown away by this song when it first came out. Being only 7 hrs. old,I had raked leaves to buy it.
Wife Speaking...Great Transition for sure....Pure 🔥!!! ...One of the first songs I could play really well on bass!!
Every Northern ,Ontario Canada ✌️👍bonfire Tune
The bass from JPJ on "Living" is so good.....JPJ picks his spots to go off!
Great reaction to a timeless Zeppelin song❤!
Your guys' dynamic together is awesome. Fucking love your channel! MORE ZEPPELIN! All of it! 😆
Me and my buddies used to go to a Led Zepplin laser show at the planetarium in high school. It was an out of body experience
Bought this album as a high school junior and at that time this was outside the mainstream of pop music, the beginning of the heavy metal era. My parents hated it, what else can I say? And you guys are trying to figure out their style now and can't comprehend how ground breaking this album was. It still rocks today
Thank you for including Living Loving Maid bc i can't hear Heartbreaker without it
If you guys want to hear two more bands that sound like Led Zeppelin, then you should listen to a band called Detective and their song Grim Reaper. They came out in 1977 and the lead singer is Michael Des Barres who was friends with Led Zeppelin. The lead guitar player is Michael Monarch and was the guitar player for Steppenwolf. The band was even signed to Led Zeppelin's record label Swan Song. The other band who sounds like Led Zeppelin came out in 1988 and was called Kingdom Come. Check out their songs Get It On and Livin Out of Touch. Michael Des Barres also toured as the lead singer for the band Power Station. Robert Palmer was the singer for the band in the studio but was too busy with his own projects to do the tour, so that's why Michael Des Barres did the tour. They played at Live Aid. The guitar player is Andy Taylor, and the bass player is John Taylor who were both members of the band Duran Duran. I'm actually still waiting for somebody to do reactions for Detective and Kingdom Come. I haven't heard anybody do any of these songs yet from them.
I tend to think of it as video games can sound "kind of Led Zeppelinny." But i am a 60 yr old... enjoy the channel.
Forgot how frickin' awesome Heartbreaker is. As much as I love Alex Lifeson, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page is the nasty master of many, many iconic rock guitar riffs.
I have Gilmour right at the top, always have.
Followed by about 75 other great axemen.
@@TheCornishCockneygilmour is so overrated, he's not even the best keep it simple and sweet guitarist
@@isopropyltoxicity Fortunately for Jimmy he is the king of riffs.
This is some of their early music and it's the best. Grew up with these tunes. Love Led Zeppelin 2
Man oh man! Bonham and Page just completely rule it! It’s absolutely beautiful and raw and grind you in the mud is how it makes me feel. So damn good. If people could just make music like they did then, we could still rock out! Thank God we have the option to be able to be born decades later and the ability to hear this music! So good oh my Lord!!!!
Led Zep II was my first album purchased with my own money! Played the he** out of it - much to my parents chagrine!
I always remember since I'm a little kid that these two songs were Always played together on the radio as if it was one long song. They sound incomplete without each other.
Love watching your heads bob to the beat 😅 Great reaction as always
Iconic! Just the best combo songs ever put together. first heard it in 1970!
"Nope, never heard it."
Man, I'm old.
RAW is the best description, blazing hot staggered staccato, then smooth, and fluid, then filthy chords, all encapsulated by heavy bass, and driving percussion, and those Gritty Vocals.
That huge huge tone Page gets on the main riff and barre chords is for the ages. It's like dining on the best 16 oz steak out there .
No subsequent metal necessary. They did it all in one song.
The GOATS OF GOATS!😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Perfection! Thanks guys
Once again, I am convinced that the real development of the rock industry began precisely in the 60s, namely, if we talk about the direction of music, Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, Jimmy Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Ozzy Osbourne and many others, one of those who did it and inspired, in the 80s everything was already weak, and in the early 90s everything was completely blown away, I’m sure that now we can appreciate it after 50 years.
Great review guys!!
I have said it before, and I will say it again. Rush is my favorite band of all time, however, Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band of all time.
If you haven't done "Since I've Been Loving You" from the third album, you should. Prepare to be amazed by some terrific blues and one of the greatest solos of all time.
Herb Alpert Rise, Chuck Mangione Feels so good...thank me later.. i promise youll dig it!!! love u guys!
The "riffs" in LIVIN LOVIN MAID, to me just sounds like its fun to play, etc
I always pictured them having a great time, ALOT OF FUN making it/ recording it
Been waiting for this one.
One of my favorites!
JPJ the silent assassin!!!!
Thank you for representing my generation of music I do have to say it was the best in music then comes Dimash but being 60 Led zeppelin was always my favorite
Led Zeppelin had a lot of sides to them. On this same album they had the naughty Whole Lotta Love, but I want to highlight a tender ballad that Robert Plant wrote to his wife. "Thank You" is a beautiful song with wonderful lyrics. It's my favorite Zep song. Nice 12 string guitar from Page. I bet it would be a reaction for all 3 of you! I hope you check it out, but be careful of a false fade near the end, as the music comes back.
note at between 8:23 and 8:24 that little 5 note riff he inverts it half way through - perfectly on the beat and with no effort.
Classic Iconic Zeppelin,great choice's guys!
If I hear Heartbraker on the radio and they don't play Livin' Lovin' Maid behind it, it ruins my whole day.
Thank you for reacting to these 2 …. The Right Way!! Next,
The Song Remains the Same/Rain Song (live from MSG)
I requested these songs on the radio when my gf broke up with me. She was sooooo heated by it lol.
I was hurt but then i remembered my good qualities and self confidence and just kinda thought "living, loving.... She's just a woman" 🤷♂️
They r the best. Period.
John Paul jones on that base guitar. This band just never stops to amaze. I was lucky to see them live in 1970. They were even better live. Was front and centre.
Before TH-cam takes this vid down I just wanna say, this song (two songs) was my first intro to Zep and I didn't understand it for a whole month. Having been a Beatles/Stones/Bee Gees kid. Yes, I'm old.
The tightest and best band of all time…
Jimmy Paige is the bomb. Saw them 5 times. He tore up his guitar everytime.❤❤
I like a lot of rock bands but if I was forced to pick a favorite it would probably be Zeppelin. But as much as I love them, I'm not really a fan of Stairway to Heaven though. Except when it's coming from Ann Wilson. That version I really like. These two songs are great - I like them both. Physical Graffiti is just killer. Kashmir, Houses of the Holy, The Rain Song and, especially Ten Years Gone are 4 of my favorite Zeppelin songs and I'd really enjoy hearing a reaction to any of those. Thanks for giving us some great music tonight.
I hope the guys don’t get a copyright strike from trying to react to this. I think I’ve heard that they are notorious for blocking their videos. I haven’t seen too many reactions from all the TH-cam reactors listening to Zep songs.
The channel Air Play Beats and many others do Zeppelin all the time. I think it may depend on how big your channel is or it may be completely random. I know Don Henley, and it is Henley himself, will go after anybody and I know several channels that were deleted due to a Hotel California reaction.
Page used to slip in a little classical guitar in the middle of that guitar solo sometimes. On thier live LP "How The West Was Won", he plays a snippet of Sebastain Bach's Bouree in E Minor.
Thanks for more Led Zeppelin ❤
You guys should hit "Kashmir", "Fool in the Rain", and, of course, "Stairway To Heaven".
I really like your commentary guys. This is just Zep at its most elemental - filthy, gritty, dirty blues with thunderous bass and drums and unexpected twists by Mr. Page. You didn’t note it, but Page’s production on Zep II was a landmark of recording effects, including panning and backwards echo and ingenious use of slide and wah. And Robert Plant’s vocals on Zep II are the best of all time IMHO. Regarding the a capella solo, Page ripped it off in a different studio at spur of the moment as a way of doing something shocking. Page’s balls were HUGE. Steve Vai speaks about this all the time as his greatest inspiration. Page was all about going for it. And both solos sounded better live if you hear the boots (check out Osaka 1971). Finally, on the fire second solo, it demonstrates how great Zep played as an ensemble. The greatest band of all time!
Absolutely a "fav"
They do!!! Guys Guys!!! Back in the days, a lot of people didn't Led Zeppelin or couldn;t see Led Zeppelin in concert so groups like Led Zeppelin would do solo improves deliberately on their albums so that their listeners would feel that they were at a concert by their band. Nii video or emails back then, but a helluva lot of Fan mail......so they knew many fans did not see their concert because they were all sold out!!!!
Sometimes Page can’t work his fingers as fast as his mind, but man I love the sloppy!
“alimony alimony, paying your bills” Ouch! Too close to home
Jimmy Page is perfectly imperfect 🎸🤘🏼🔥
Great follow-up to an incredible first album. Loved it when it first came out and still love it today.
Please, please do more Led Zeppelin. There are ton of us Led Heads out here and you can grow your channel fast. Plus it’s freakin’ amazing music! 🔥 Go back to LZ1 and start with song 2, since you have already reacted to song 1. Then just continue song after song in order, albums in order. That’s the way we heard them, and you will see how they progressed. I’ve subscribed, I’ll donate money, whatever needed to get you to do more LED ZEP.
Goat, indeed!
This came out a few years before Pong. So maybe we know where video games drew inspiration from. Long live Zep.
The Lemon Song on this album is amazing. Incredible bass by JPJ.
Let's face it, Jimmy had the best backing band for his brand of madness. He was the leader of Zeppelin, No Question. I'm not surprised at all Jimmy called it quits after Bonzos passing. I think it broke his spirit, and in a way, his career. He hasn't been the same since. That doesn't discount the contribution to music history Zep has been a part of, It enhances It... GOATS.
Such an iconic song
Gotta get the Led out!
~ You have such great content! ♥
I'd like to make another suggestion..."Earth, Wind & Fire" - 'After the Love is Gone', 'September'...and 'Let's Groove'. I think you'll love them! 🥰
I really enjoy your Zeppelin reactions. It would be great if you did them a bit more frequently. ;)
If you want to hear two songs back to back done really well, try "Waitin' for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago" by ZZ Top.
Guys, y'all really need to do Kashmir! Get ready to be mind-blown!
This is one of their best albums. I highly recommend you lsten to the entire side 2 uninterrupted. On vinyl. Loud. It will change your life! LOL😁
Hey fellas, listen to the songs Seed Of Memory and To Be Treated Rite by Terry Reid, Juicy Fruit by Mtume, Making Love In The Rain by Herb Alpert, Midnight Rocks, Timeless Skies, Midas Shadow, Broadway Hotel, End of the day by Al Stewart ☺️
John Paul Jones at his finest.
If I can give ANY advice for reviewing this band, it's always listen to the studio version first, then the live stuff will make more sense. When you take the deep dive into LZ (and everyone does) you'll feel like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. It's an endless labyrinth of discovery. It sounds cheesy, but you'll see what I mean. These guys lived what they played. You should read about Plant and Page's travels to Morocco and India, then listen to "Kashmir" from the Physical Graffiti album. There are two categories of Rock. In one category is every band in the world, except for one. In the other category, you'll find Led Zeppelin. They are the Godfathers of Heavy Metal, and IMHO, the overlords of modern rock and roll.
Guys, think about doing any Zep.....also, Elvis Costello, and perhaps The Clash .....
I love Led Zeppelin but I have a suggestion for Ryan since he loves the sax so much - give a try to Pink Floyd Shine on you crazy Diamond - he will love it
If you want a GREAT one-hit wonder double song--try the Kings, This Beat Goes On/Switchin' to Glide
Right on. I'm from Oakville, Ontario, Canada where members of The Kings are from. I love this two-in-one song and have been asking reactors to listen to it. A hidden, unknown gem.
I hope you don't get a copyright strike. Be careful with Zep and especially Eagles. Don Henley is a real f'n D
lions and tigers and bears oh my!
Just filthy good Zepp.
