I like the song but it doesn't sound anything like OM&M. This is a very generic sounding song, and the lyrics are generic too. The thing that I like about OM&M is that they have a sound that no other band has. When they come through your speakers, you KNOW that it's OM&M. Not so drastic that it makes them unfamiliar with what their fans are used to, just a more mature, yet enjoyable sound to it. Look at All That Remains, they did an amazing job transitioning to their old style of music to what they play now.
This sounds really good. Seriously. I'm glad they have changed their sound. It's for the betterment of their existence. Bands who stay the same don't get far. Cheers to musical innovation!!
Dude why are so many people hating on this its pretty good, not as heavy and raw as previous albums but still good. Remember this is one song out of 12 on the album!
This song would mean so much to people and I don't think half of you realise. Austin's always said he wants to help people and this song is just another way of getting his message across. Of Mice & Men is a family to so many people, not just some band. They've helped so many people and have saved a countless amount of lives. what if Austin and the guys see your comment? They work so hard for you, the fans, to try and give you what you want. to try and make the fans happy and what do you do? throw it back in their faces. seriously, grow up.
You guys should stop complaining. The guitars sound awesome, Austin's voice perfect as ever. Not Tino's best work but it is still really sick. And about Aaron's voice, damn it, of course he isn't shay but he still have really cool vocals and they fit perfectly this song. They are changing and we can't say if that's good or bad yet because this is only the first song of the album. For some reason the first song released is the most generic one just so people who are not into this type of music can listen to it too. Guys, keep the good job going, your fans are still here!
Of Mice & Men has been at the top of this genre for quite some time now. But if this album is anything like this, they will surely fall and only have fan girls left supporting them. This isn't anything crazy or special that makes OM&M, well, OM&M.
all the same despite the fact that they have changed a lot in the genre - admittedly a great song! but if the whole album is in such a direction - it certainly would not be very .. sorry for my (or rather "Google translator") lousy English
It's been a long time since it hasn't mostly just been fangirls. I used to love this band more than anything. Now it seems they're just trying to fulfill people's insecurities to make money. Not sure if it's that or if it's just me growing up and finding new music. And just to back up my argument i can gurantee people will bitch at me for this comment, which shows that the fanbase is majorly built up of teen fangirls.
Dan Johnson I'm with you here man. Loved OM&M big time years ago but as I've got older and matured I've been getting into different music. It takes a very solid album to make me want to purchase music of this genre anymore and this song didn't cut it. Truly trying to fulfill peoples insecurities for sure. If people like it, that's fine, just not the OM&M I'm personally looking for right now.
Joseph Emanuele I don't know about the rest of you but Of Mice & Men's other stuff was way more unique in my opinion. That's why I loved it so much cause Shayley's voices was epic, Austins screams weren't the best but pretty dam good and different, and the bass/guitar/drums sounded a hell of a lot better. This (aside from Austin) sounds like every mediocre rock band you hear on the radio.
this sounds nothing like Korn and other nu metal bands, so please explain where you got nu metal from this is clearly still metal core and explain how they sold out
For those of you freaking out on us who don't like the song and telling us that every band changes: yes, we know that and we encourage that! Coming into this song I was expecting a different sound, but not a worse sound. I remember in 2009 when I first heard OM&M they were so much different sounding than any other band I had ever heard and had so much to bring to the table. If I didn't know what Austin sounded like when he screamed and I was blindfolded so I couldn't see the name of the band, I wouldn't be able to tell who it was because it sounds so much like everything else that is out there. I am all for change and progression and I was really rooting for OM&M to bring something refreshing to the genre but this is far from that.
I personally think this is an amazing change for OM&M. Their sound is much more mature now. Austin's raw vocals with Aaron's beautiful cleans go together perfectly IMO. I do agree the lyrics are bit lackluster. However, this is only one song. There is no reason to judge an entire album based on one song.
I am in love with this song! Even if they sound different... who cares, it's about the lyrics and how passionate all the members in the band are! OF MICE & MEN, this song truly means alot to me because I have been struggling alot and am really starting to give up. I can't wait for your album to come out, I promise I won't leave at least until you're album comes out
I'm really DG'n this new song. Sure it sounds different from their usual stuff that everyone knows, but this band is simply amazing so who cares? I got great expectations for the new album.
This has a classic vibe to it. The dynamics are executed pretty well too. Can't wait for the rest of the album. I don't know why a lot of people are ripping on this. It's actually really good!
If this is the first song you've heard from them you may not like their older stuff. It was way better. However I understand that this is just one song out of an entire album. There may be gems.
The thing about metal core bands such as OM&M, BMTH, Slipknot and such is that when your my age (I'm 11 no joke) is that everybody calls it satanic, evil, stupid, and 'too loud'. Nobody at my age really gives this genre of music a chance. Like really? I've been listening to Slipknot since I was in the womb (I thank my mother for being a fan ahead of time). It just makes me upset when people immediately put down such a good genre without even trying it out
Lol you know when you grow up, there'll be absolutely no one who gives any shits at all what you listen to? more people listen to metal than you think.
Why is everyone saying that they sound different and they want the old OM&M back? IF they made this album the same as their previous you would be moaning about how they all sound the same, so please if you do not like it shut up and leave.
You guys know what i really love about THIS special youtube video? Because HERE people are kinda "grown ups" and talk about the music and its changes really professional ... without hating, without whining (nearly)... Just different opinions and their arguments ... I love the community here in comparison to other bands in this genre! Greetings
haha, that's all it'll take, an opinion to butthurt someone. when it is face to face, no one will bother anyone, but on the internet, it's too personal and dramatic. hey, where are the good old days when you just go to football games and start a riot/fight for no reason? instead, just get high and be naked. where's the good old days where you or someone get's their rear kicked, they just admit it in defeat and just e friends with the person you lost against because of respect. where's the good old days where 11 to 14 year olds act like their age, not 21 and being a slut for those older men. and now, this is just a random comment because I am BORED. nothing wrong with that XD
Gill, for one, apparently you made a douchebag post too. Second off. I don't remember making statement this at all. I guess one of my buddies posted it when I had it up. Oh well, but that statement i didn't post made a good point
Its really nice hearing Aaron finally on recorded studio stuff. Seems Austin is trying new things with his vocals. This song is ok, but I hope there are more original/unique songs on the album.
I regret not giving this album a chance earlier, this album may not be the best, but damn it's pretty impressive, im pretty stoked to see them with Linkin Park.
Scott Adkins 97 Well, I think he means he was excited to see OM&M in concert with Linkin Park. Unless he was one of the first stops, he probably got less stoked really quickly since Chester broke his ankle, meaning most of the tour was cancelled.
As you can tell from my earlier comment i wasnt really into this song. I listened to it more and im starting to really fucking love it. Im glad i gave it another chance. Aarons vocals sound great.
2017 has barely started and I already miss Austin so much. I'm just glad I had the chance to see them live over the summer. Of Mice & Men is one of my favorite bands, but I don't think it will ever be the same.
So this song's based on self esteems and depression, good we need songs like that. I live in a negative environment and we needs songs that have outstanding life saving lyrics like this. Because I need them really badly (reason: unwanted thoughts of suicide)
+caleb Reedy they're both fucking great. different, but, equal. learn some conservation, yea? it's a psyche a term when a kid sees two different cups with the same amount liquid but think one has more because of the shape of the cup. you are that kid
ItzAmufn Have you ever tried writing a song? It isn't easy. Sure the message may be a little over used, but it's still not a reason to bitch about it. Just look for new bands that carry different meanings in their songs.
this song saved my life so many times. we need to stop and appreciate the good austin is doing for our world. he changed my life for the bettter and he can do it for the WHOLE world. i love you, lord carlile. i pray to you every fucking night, and also sometimes oli sykes because i luv him
therealfolkblues007 that's truly amazing. that's PROOF OF HOW we NEED to accept carlile as our lord. your mother IS A BITCH. but austin is not. he's so nice and guess wat. I met him at warped this year and he put a smiley face enxt to his signature when he signed my arm which shows he CARES about his fans like mmf bmth wcar and bbq
I personally think Aarons voice does fit quite well. I love it. Of course I'll still love old OM&M just the same. Whoever thinks this is bad is really close minded because all that changed is the clean vocals. Why is it such a big deal
Jacob Miller Im also a musician and songwriter and personally I wouldn't have thrown it out. But that's your opinion and you're entitled to it so I wont argue with you. By the way there's****
Taylor Ann music is a creative outlit for an artist. like drawing or painting, or writing, or dancing. once it loses the creativity, its just cashing in on what you can. i personally dont enjoy lyrics, i enjoy music, and the music is less than stellar. this is why i dont enjoy the song. i still hope it will be a good album, but in my opinion its a bad song.

I'm so excited to see these guys in February. :)
I'm seeing them in February too!
Sweet! Which place?
Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln!
Ok well have fun. It's gonna be a great show!
Are you seeing them in Spokane Washington? I might see them at the Bing Crosby theater.
I'm digging this and I have been into them for awhile now. I'm not judging until I hear the whole record
It's been interesting to see how Austin's screams have changed over time.
I don't care what people say about this song, I am in love
Every time I feel like I am not going to make it in a depression crisis, I come back to this song and it always saves my life...
I wouldn't care if there are less fangirls... I think the song is very good and i really like the lyrics.
all the same despite the fact that they have changed a lot in the genre - admittedly a great song!
but if the whole album is in such a direction - it certainly would not be very ..
sorry for my (or rather "Google translator") lousy English
Dan Johnson i agree!
This gave me goosebumps. Can't wait for this album. I love this band so much
from under the cork tree ;)
I've never been a fan of OM&M, but I have to say that I dig this song a lot, it's pretty unique compared to their older stuff.
Lol? other way around there buddy.
Metsky Diver Personally, I think the new Of Mice & Men is way better than the old. And this is coming from a die-hard fan.
Metsky Diver
What do you mean?
Joseph Emanuele I don't know about the rest of you but Of Mice & Men's other stuff was way more unique in my opinion. That's why I loved it so much cause Shayley's voices was epic, Austins screams weren't the best but pretty dam good and different, and the bass/guitar/drums sounded a hell of a lot better. This (aside from Austin) sounds like every mediocre rock band you hear on the radio.
Metsky Diver Agree with Metsky!
If austin carlile screaming "your not alone, your with me." Doesnt make you feel safe nothing will.
Omg a band changed it's sound quick everyone start bitching and saying they sold out and in a bout a week fall in love with it
***** nu metal? please explain.
this sounds nothing like Korn and other nu metal bands, so please explain where you got nu metal from this is clearly still metal core and explain how they sold out
For those of you freaking out on us who don't like the song and telling us that every band changes: yes, we know that and we encourage that!
When your reflection in the mirror smiles back. It lies, You know it! :)
What if your reflection frowns back at you?
Then it tells the truth
Deeeeep!!!!!
stephanie blessings ...that's the lyrics
Am I the only one who likes this more than their other stuff?
I personally think this is an amazing change for OM&M. Their sound is much more mature now. Austin's raw vocals with Aaron's beautiful cleans go together perfectly IMO. I do agree the lyrics are bit lackluster. However, this is only one song. There is no reason to judge an entire album based on one song.
I am in love with this song! Even if they sound different... who cares, it's about the lyrics and how passionate all the members in the band are! OF MICE & MEN, this song truly means alot to me because I have been struggling alot and am really starting to give up. I can't wait for your album to come out, I promise I won't leave at least until you're album comes out
i love when this song comes on during mid-set in my workout. this shit hypes me up @ the chorus
I'm really DG'n this new song. Sure it sounds different from their usual stuff that everyone knows, but this band is simply amazing so who cares? I got great expectations for the new album.
ya i hope so they have so much talent and Aaron pauley is pretty good he was amazing in jamie's elsewhere
This has a classic vibe to it. The dynamics are executed pretty well too. Can't wait for the rest of the album. I don't know why a lot of people are ripping on this. It's actually really good!
Have been a huge fan of OM&M from day one and now I'm even more stoked for their album!
I can't believe this is 9 years old. Time flies and to worst
How did I not listen to OM&M before now... props to heather for recommending them to me. C: tank u heatherrr
If this is the first song you've heard from them you may not like their older stuff. It was way better. However I understand that this is just one song out of an entire album. There may be gems.
On a positive note, Aaron matches the sound really well.
I'm not too crazy about his screams but his cleans are outstanding
different dude does cleans.
nope aaron does.
Aaron Pauley does all the vocals besides Austin's screams
The screams and cleans are done by different people
The thing about metal core bands such as OM&M, BMTH, Slipknot and such is that when your my age (I'm 11 no joke) is that everybody calls it satanic, evil, stupid, and 'too loud'.
I cringe when you called slipknot metal core...
Slipknot is regular metal. When you get into the older grades there's a huge fan base for all of these bands
+Music Maniac Agreed 100%.
But Slipknot isn't metalcore.
Slipknot is metalcore...?
This is freakin Awesome! I love the new album!
i just got it *o*
clover smith It's a shame you can't do the * o * anymore xC
This is a classical douche-bag-look-at-me-I'm-grown-post
Gill, for one, apparently you made a douchebag post too. Second off. I don't remember making statement this at all. I guess one of my buddies posted it when I had it up. Oh well, but that statement i didn't post made a good point
Gill Ambrose Right back at ya
Of Mice & Men just earned a new fan!
Aaron is such a good singer/screamer and is capable of doing both amazingly :(
His true potential is definitely being wasted.
***** Have you never listened to Jamie's Elsewhere?
***** Have you not listened to his band Jamie's Elsewhere?
Listen to "Giants Among Common Men" by his band Jamie's Elsewhere, he definately screams in that and sings in that one
Great song. Melody was well build, and I loved the lyrics. Perfect.
love u guys
To anyone reading this and going through a rough time.
You're not alone.
There is always hope for the willing.
I LOVE the guitar
Its really nice hearing Aaron finally on recorded studio stuff. Seems Austin is trying new things with his vocals. This song is ok, but I hope there are more original/unique songs on the album.
I regret not giving this album a chance earlier, this album may not be the best, but damn it's pretty impressive, im pretty stoked to see them with Linkin Park.
xBrowniesGhostx What do you mean for stoked?
Scott Adkins 97 Well, I think he means he was excited to see OM&M in concert with Linkin Park. Unless he was one of the first stops, he probably got less stoked really quickly since Chester broke his ankle, meaning most of the tour was cancelled.
SensoryFour34 Understood
***** I like both bands,i prefer LP,you prefer Of Mice & Men.What's your favourite song by Of Mice & Men?
Scott Adkins 97 O.G. Loko, or Still YDG'N
OH MY GOD I FINALLY FOUND THIS AFTER SO LONG I USED TO LISTEN TO THIS ALL THE TIME O-o
As you can tell from my earlier comment i wasnt really into this song. I listened to it more and im starting to really fucking love it. Im glad i gave it another chance. Aarons vocals sound great.
Gah, I'm going to miss him so much.
This sounds awesome! I already pre-ordered the album a while ago. Can't wait!
It´s funny I met Of Mice & Men because I was looking for the movie from the novel for literature and I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE BAND!
Nice Lyrics "Strength In Numbers"
- Strength In Numbers
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Best song yet
I love Aaron's voice oml
Willow Jones shay was better
+caleb Reedy live, Aaron is much cleaner and way more consistent.
+caleb Reedy that is what I call an opinion
Peef Rimgar even if he had some bad performances (drunk) his amazing vibrato made up for it and some. And he is an amazing screamer now to.
+caleb Reedy they're both fucking great. different, but, equal.
learn some conservation, yea? it's a psyche a term when a kid sees two different cups with the same amount liquid but think one has more because of the shape of the cup.
you are that kid
Why are people so scared of change? Listen to the lyrics and take them in, they have good meaning.
These lyrics make me cringe, we've heard lyrics like this a million times. The next time I hear "you're not alone" I'm gonna drink bleach.
ItzAmufn agreed
ItzAmufn Have you ever tried writing a song? It isn't easy. Sure the message may be a little over used, but it's still not a reason to bitch about it. Just look for new bands that carry different meanings in their songs.
We are allowed to be critics.
I never said you cant be
I think my replay button is broken by now
same here i had to ask youtube for a new one
+Justin Moratzka hmmm strange they gave me a platinum one
Same
This song is the definition of perfection
Wow they've changed a lot! I like them now!
this song saved my life so many times. we need to stop and appreciate the good austin is doing for our world. he changed my life for the bettter and he can do it for the WHOLE world. i love you, lord carlile. i pray to you every fucking night, and also sometimes oli sykes because i luv him
therealfolkblues007 that's truly amazing. that's PROOF OF HOW we NEED to accept carlile as our lord. your mother IS A BITCH. but austin is not. he's so nice and guess wat.
Why is it such a big deal
and theirs no creativity in this. as a musician, and a songwriter if i wrote this i would throw it out.
Jacob Miller Pity. Why Does it need to be creative.? they're making music to help people, not to inspire their creative side.
Jacob Miller Im also a musician and songwriter and personally I wouldn't have thrown it out. But that's your opinion and you're entitled to it so I wont argue with you. By the way there's****
Taylor Ann Exactly
Taylor Ann music is a creative outlit for an artist. like drawing or painting, or writing, or dancing. once it loses the creativity, its just cashing in on what you can. i personally dont enjoy lyrics, i enjoy music, and the music is less than stellar. this is why i dont enjoy the song. i still hope it will be a good album, but in my opinion its a bad song.
'You're not alone, you're with me'
Thanks Of Mice & Men.
i remember when one teacher asked me "whats your favorite type of music" i replied "rock". She said "why" because its fucking amazing
This is metalcore :p
But it does rock ahah :D
Sans Fear not metalcore it's heavy metal. The vocals are too clear for metalcore.
It's all fucking metal stop bitching about core and shit just listen to it
Cosmo Harries it is Metalcore. A lot of Metalcore bands has songs with more cleans
Awesome !
i really hope the rest of the album sounds better, i love om&m, but i really miss their old style.
I never thought I would hear Of Mice & Men or any Rise core band on the radio, but I did today on 95 WIIL Rock in Chicago area and I like this song.
