Ray Sawyer and Dennis Locorriere had some very underrated harmonies with Dr Hook. They were an amazing band...They were known to hang out and jam with the famed children's book author Shel Silverstein...in fact Shel is wrote alot of songs, some with Kris Kristofferson for Dr Hook Waylon Jennings and others...some tunes you may know that Shel wrote A boy named Sue made famous by Johnny Cash Syvia's Mother, I got stoned and i missed it, On the cover of the rolling stone, Freakin at the freakers ball and Carry me Carrie all made famous by Dr Hook

As an Alabama native and resident I can assure you we are extremely proud of our fellow Alabamians in the music and film industry .It is quite common to see them mentioned everywhere across the state even in the most remote places such as small BBQ joints in the boonies to the most modern cities and museums .We are extremely blessed to have so many talented artists in this state .Another great museum is Hank's in Montgomery along with his grave also .We can't forget about Big Mama Thornton either a blues legend who started the whole rock and roll thing .As a huge fan of both Elvis Presley and Janis Joplin Big Mama's originals of Hound Dog and Ball and Chain are the best in my opinion though both Elvis and Janis did amazing jobs on these songs .RIP Big Mama Thornton you did for rock and roll what Hank did for country .Heck we even claim Ray Charles over here on our murals .Yes I know both Florida and Georgia claim him as their own also but he had such an impact over here in this state also we consider him one of our own too .RIP to all these amazing artists .Visiting Hank's grave is a must for any true music lover of any genre and quite the experience to say the least and I will leave it at that .

Nothing as country as driving down country roads in my truck blasting dixieland delight.

I took my late parents to see them at the Nassau coliseum in Uniondale, n.y. For their anniversary. I NEVWR saw them happier than when I saw them cheering for Alabama.
