    For me, taxi is almost always a last option, or one that doesn't even occur to me as a possibility. But then, I'm able-bodied, enjoy trains, and am usually travelling alone. That doesn't apply to everyone.

    Sometimes, especially in a foreign country, after a flight, you just don't want to think. Even places with good public transport, like Singapore (which i've been to and from Changi via numerous times), after a 12 hour flight, i'm gonna pay the extra for a taxi to get to the hotel directly. That bed is calling!

    I think the biggest factor to getting a taxi over train is not having to think about navigation. I don't always need the stress of thinking what time, platform, changes I need and also having to make sure I get off in the right place. In the taxi this is all done by the driver.

  • @1MrT
    @1MrT 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Totally agree, door to door, and the knowledge of the driver getting you to your location. No worries about what stop do I need what direction do I need to go when I get off what platform etc. and you’ve got the privacy of just you and the driver. And the option to change your mind on the destination or stop along the way.

    Love it. What's so unique about London is that there are so many people, that you almost have endless opportunity of situational events that will always work in favour of transport. Far different to a small town or city. Many people forget this. And London and it's scale will always benefit.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but a lot of taxi journeys are business related. The taxi user isn't bothered about the cost - they aren't paying the company is (also tax deductable as a business expense). Why sit on a train when you have your own space and privacy and a pleasant view of London when you use a cab.

  • @map-reduce
    @map-reduce 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    You made the point, but it's definitely cost effective to take a cab when I have my family with me. Plus, I don't have to worry there won't be anywhere to stow my luggage, and that really is a big deal versus the train. You basically say this, but one of the best things about London is the number of options to get where you're going. Also, something more recent after knee surgery, cabs are much more accessible than many tube stations with my cane and punishingly slow gait :)

    I agree with most of your reasons for taking a taxi from Heathrow. One of the main reasons I like to take a taxi is that because I don't get to London very often, so you can see the city as you are riding in the taxi. When you are taking the Tube, it is all underground and you don't see anything of the city. I consider it part of my sightseeing as I go into London. It helps to get me in acclimatized quicker to London, especially having just flown in from Canada.

It just different transport methods are better for different journeys, that’s why it’s important to have a wide range of options available in the city
